Yes. I hope you get over it soon. -

ARCHIVED Celiac, Fibromyalgia & Very Limited Food Tolerance
dilettantesteph replied to cindy.k's topic in Super Sensitive People
Yes, yes, and yes. I'm sorry I didn't see this earlier. I have gotten much more sensitive as time goes on. I don't believe it. I'm trying to get better in the garden so that I can grow more of my own. I haven't reacted to my garden veggies. I do better with the farmer's market than the grocery store. It seems like once things get into the mainstream... -
Sorry you got hit. I definitely get pain and gas, but I haven't noticed mucous. There is usually do much extreme D in there, I don't know if I'd notice it.

ARCHIVED Extra Diet Restrictions For Healing?
dilettantesteph replied to Baddfrog's topic in Super Sensitive People
I had extensive damage when I was diagnosed. Basically, I had been pooping in my pants for 20 years. My mood swings were out of control and the depression kept me in bed for days at a time. The joint pain and fatigue were debilitating. I hadn't been able to work for years and I wasn't pulling my weight as a "housewife" either. Now, I am working again... -
I couldn't find one I didn't react to, sadly. I am extremely sensitive, however. I hope you do find one.

ARCHIVED Could It Be The Udi's?
dilettantesteph replied to lindsayanne0's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
It could be. I have found that with me, very small amounts of cc can add up. -

ARCHIVED I Know I'm Doing The Right Thing...but So Frustrated.
dilettantesteph replied to lindsayanne0's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
That's great advice. Also, remember that cc adds up when you eat more of something. It is very hard when it's your child. -

ARCHIVED How Often Do You Eat Out?
dilettantesteph replied to smsm's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
It doesn't sound like an unwarranted fear to me. When I travel, I bring a plug in cooler made by Coleman, along with a mini microwave. That way I don't need to eat out. I think that you could communicate to your kids that they can eat out, but it isn't a risk that you want to take because you get so sick. The kids need to learn the difference between... -

ARCHIVED Upset, Confused, Venting, Scared & Frustrated
dilettantesteph replied to squirmingitch's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
I have 12 boxes of the stuff. I usually wash my grains, seeds and nuts. I think that it helps somewhat. Fortunately I have a not so sensitive celiac husband to eat my rejects. I also have a freezer full of rejects. -

ARCHIVED How Often Do You Eat Out?
dilettantesteph replied to smsm's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
I can understand why you wouldn't want to eat if there is a possibility of weeks of pain. Why do it? Why not spend the money on cooking supplies and gourmet foods and enjoy cooking and socializing at home? I don't eat out. I will occasionally go out with friends to socialize and not eat or bring my own food. More often my socializing doesn't involve... -

ARCHIVED Upset, Confused, Venting, Scared & Frustrated
dilettantesteph replied to squirmingitch's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
I got some of that special passover quinoa and I had problems with it too. Yet, I have another quinoa source which can eat every day. Unfortunately I can't get any more and I'm running out! I'm very sensitive by the way. -

ARCHIVED What Is Making Me Sick?
dilettantesteph replied to suziq0805's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Gluten free doesn't mean 100% gluten free, it means very low gluten. Some of us react to very low gluten. To find out, do elimination/challenge diets and keep track in a food journal. What we react to varies a lot from person to person. Until you can identify someone who reacts like you do, you really need to figure it out for yourself. I think that... -

ARCHIVED Almost A Year On Diet And No Results
dilettantesteph replied to eazyeazy's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Some celiacs are sensitive to lower levels of gluten than others. I am one who is sensitive to extremely low levels. I didn't get better on the gluten free diet either at first. The recommendations of celiacs did not work for me. The people making the recommendations were celiacs who responded to more "normal" levels of gluten. I had to take extra precautions... -

ARCHIVED Whole Foods 365 Brand Pistachios
dilettantesteph replied to basilicious's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
For some of us it isn't a CYA, but a real caution. It will take you awhile to figure out what your sensitivity level is. The safest thing to do is: if it makes you feel bad, don't eat it! -

				ARCHIVED Confused Please Help
dilettantesteph replied to suecosgrove's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
There are some genes recognized to cause celiac disease in Europe which are not tested for here. A negative genetic test doesn't mean that you don't have the disease. See if your symptoms clear up on the gluten free diet. If you eat more whole foods (produce and meat) it is less expensive and more healthy. -

ARCHIVED Upset, Confused, Venting, Scared & Frustrated
dilettantesteph replied to squirmingitch's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
I used to have those scabs on my scalp, but I don't think that I have DH. I do get a whole bunch of other symptoms though, and I have had to be very careful about my diet. As time goes on, I have to be more and more careful. I do the food journal thing. I only add one new food per week. When I feel like I can't cut anything more out, I eat extra instead... -

				ARCHIVED Gluten Free Products
dilettantesteph replied to nmull #newly diagnosed's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
That was a problem I had too. Once I got this diet figured out, it went away. Hopefully it will for you too. -

ARCHIVED Almost A Year On Diet And No Results
dilettantesteph replied to eazyeazy's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I did see you say something about a translator. Maybe there is a language problem. Where do you live? Farmers grow many grains in rotation. Sometimes they use the same equipment for different grains and they can get mixed up with each other a bit. I look through my grains and pick out stuff that doesn't belong. I find stems, small pebbles, and other... -
I've done some reading on this too, and it does sound compelling. I would also like to hear from anyone who has tried it. I think I'll wait until it's more proven, if it does get to me more proven, before I'd try it myself. The only research I could find where it was used for celiac disease found that it didn't work. Does anyone know of any research...

ARCHIVED Steroids For Refractory Celiac--Recovering Alcoholic
dilettantesteph replied to Kellyc306's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I agree with the other posters. Before steroids there are lots of things that you can do with your diet. It took me much longer than 6 weeks. Good luck sticking with your recovery. It would be really hard to be strict with the diet while on a bender. -

				ARCHIVED Cross-Contamination Considerations
dilettantesteph replied to kaygato's topic in Super Sensitive People
I don't think that you even need to be super sensitive for that to be a problem. -

ARCHIVED If You've Had Dh While Gluten-Free...

ARCHIVED Almost A Year On Diet And No Results
dilettantesteph replied to eazyeazy's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I'm not sure what you didn't understand about my post: Did you not read it carefully, or do you not understand why you would want to remove gluten grains? Do you keep track of where the strawberries come from? That might be the difference. One source might be problematic and another one might not. There is also a cumulative effect as mentioned...
