ARCHIVED A New Weight Loss Support/accountability Thread
ang1e0251 replied to lonewolf's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I do hope that my autoimmune conditions go into remission after a while. I did a poll some time ago of people with fibromyalgia who were now gluten free, and about 30% of those who responded said that they no longer had fibro symptoms, but it took a long time (around two years).[/quote I'm reading a very interesting book called "The Miracle of Magnesium... -

The reason I asked about your diet was that you mentioned eating in way that was like Adkins. I've been reading the book and I'm interested in this. Just eating gluten-free hasn't been enough for me. I did lose slowly in the beginning but just a couple of pounds and I'm rebounding. I agree with about the fats but I know I have too much sugar. Adkins... -

ARCHIVED Eating Out With The "boys"
ang1e0251 replied to UnhappyCoeliac's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I think at the next function you should prepare a handout with cartoons and give it to anyone who has asked you more than once for the info! On the flipside of that, I don't expect anyone who doesn't have celiac disease to fully understand it. My friend has it and I didn't totally understand. Even now there are new things to learn. Let's face... -
ARCHIVED Can I Delete One Response From A Thread
ang1e0251 posted a topic in Board/Forum Technical Help
I want to e-mail a thread to my niece that concerns her health. But one of the posters referenced another thread with a link in which I asked a direct question concerning my niece. I didn't mention her by name but she will recognize herself and my sign on. I didn't ask her permission to ask about her here and don't want to offend her even though I'm concerned... -
ARCHIVED **vent** My Loving Supportive Family. Grrrr.
ang1e0251 replied to quietmorning01's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hang in there. It does take time with the people close to you. They've seen you suffer through all the misdiagnosis' and they are waiting to see if this is another one of those. Your son is young. He'll get it as your health improves. You know if you have a picture of yourself at your sickest and compare your new self as you heal, it will be obvious... -

We must have a fashion center! But on our runways no pale waifs with bored angry expressions. Our models will have pink cheeks. All the fabrics will look fabulous on less than perfect bodies and even better if the bloat interferes. These fabrics will softly drape and expand from size 6 to 9 months pregnant without notice. -
ARCHIVED How Do You Talk To Doctors?
ang1e0251 replied to honeypond's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I do the same. I walk in with a list of questions and a pen. Even if I think I can remember everything, I pretend I am writing, it keeps the dr on his toes. If you have a real problem talking firmly to the dr, it can be helpful to take a confidant family member with you. For one thing, they can back you up when you describe things to the dr... -
ARCHIVED What Would You Do If It Was Your Child?
ang1e0251 replied to Nicholasmommy's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I know I would suffer greatly watching my child in needless pain. You have the blood test results and the dietary response. Sounds like your new ped will back you up with dx when the insurance kicks in. You could also get a genetic test down the road if you feel you need it. While it does not dx celiac disease, it will show the genetic tendancy. That... -
What were you expecting to hear from this doc? Did you have a guess at what kind of diagnosis he might offer? Are the tests he's ordering along the lines you expected? I thought you were one step ahead when he said celiac disease could attribute to some of your symptoms. Most don't know that much. What about vitamin testing? Did he say anything...

ARCHIVED Can't Stop Binging On Gluten!
ang1e0251 replied to Rachel Keating's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Good for you. Self control is a huge step. I consider myself to be very in control but I haven't taken charge of my weight for awhile. It's just laziness and not wanting to work that hard. I would prefer to cross my arms and blink and be skinny! -

Whatever song we choose for the cheerleaders, it must have "Doo-doo run, run..." in it... I think the color brown should be banned. We've washed enough brown skid marks out for a lifetime. There might not be enough entries for our first parade so we could have a nice pink healthy intestine. You know like the dragon in the Chinese New Year... -

ang1e0251 replied to Lisa16's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I kinda think with all the cookies and pizza we will all need hiney jeans!! All guests will have to go through a comtamination process. Their gluten food will be confiscated and they will be forced to eat gluten-free for their entire stay! Really cuts down on in-law visits! Students will come from all over the world to attend our D-Free University... -
ARCHIVED Anyone Here Allergic To Cats?
ang1e0251 replied to Armae's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Sorry this isn't exactly an answer to your question. I watched about 15 minutes of Martha Stewart yesterday and her vet was telling about what great pets rabbits make. They interviewed a staff member who had a rabbit in her New York apartment for 5 years. They said you give them free run of the place as they are litter trained and they are as smart as... -
ARCHIVED Migraines And Tinnitus With Celiac
ang1e0251 replied to Sher B.'s topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Remember that those tests only show the average for the whole population and each person's body is different. Low on the scale may be normal ( no symptoms) for the guy next to you but for your daughter, low might mean she is symptomatic. Some dr's won't use common sense to go with test results and read a patient's symptoms as in indicator along with test... -

ang1e0251 replied to Bosque's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I'm a florist with my own shop and we have a coffee bar in the shop also. Makes it easy for me when I'm the boss! But..a couple of times when I was alone, I was in the bathroom when I heard the bells on the door tinkle. A customer!! Kind of embarrasing but what are you going to do? My assistant is great and everyone around me is very understanding... -
If you're wondering about celiac disease why not have your dr run a celiac panel blood test? They are not always conslusive but it is a starting point. Also read the DH section from the home page so you are familier with the correct way to test DH. You can also have that biopsy. It's a place to start. Do you have other symptoms that might point to celiac...

I agree with the other poster who said get copies of your previous medical records. THe cause and effect of going gluten-free and your rash clearing up is no coincidence. If the biopsy wasn't done or read properly it can seem negative. I think it was irresponsible of the dr to say go eat gluten! This person appears to have a simplistic idea of celiac...

ARCHIVED Confused - Wheat Allergy/celiac/ibs?
ang1e0251 replied to SLB5757's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
You have some tough choices to make, as an individual and a mother. I think you already have the answers you need. Your body and your children's bodies are telling you, very clearly, that you cannot tolerate wheat. Blood tests can give false negatives and so can the biopsy. I guess you may not really know concretely whether you have a wheat allergy or... -
