  1. Sounds like you have a very strict diet except for the protein powder. I would be suspicious of that. Can you cut that out for a month & see how you do? Then you can reintroduce it, if you wish, to test it. Even if all the ingredients sound ok, it could be on shared lines or shared factory space with gluten. To be honest, I don't always know what...
  2. I am so sorry you're still feeling bad. I started experiencing gut symptoms when I was 16 years old. extreme stomache pain and the 'D' every day. It has now been over a year on an extremely strict gluten free diet and no lactose and live in a gluten free house. I have not felt even the slightest bit better. I guess my questions are how do I know if...
  3. Unable to go. Could someone record and put on U-Tube for the rest of us?
  4. Your iron levels could be wacky from bleeding so long also. I'll bet some of that testing checked for iron. I would call the nurse back and ask for copies of your tests. There are those on this sight who know what it all means. I am on Nuvaring also but I'm on continuous. My periods have always been painful, long and heavy. I love the dr that came...
  5. I would say there is 100 percent chance that you will benefit from a gluten-free diet! Welcome!
  6. I don't think the point is that it started recently. I think it's been going on for a long time and your body finally hit the tipping point and started complaining. My rash only kicks up again if I'm glutened. I would say that if your rash is ongoing, you are still eating "sneaky" gluten. What's your everyday diet like? I also have had a lot of...
  7. I just wanted to add that even if your scope shows no damage there is still a chance that you are gluten intolerant. That will not show on any test. If you feel that is true and you felt healthier when gluten-free, you can go back to the diet after your testing. You do not need a dr to give you permission and it is not harmful for you to follow. ...
  8. You're gonna need a sequined jacket and big hair for that revival! I'll sing in the choir!
  9. I would say that every time I am glutened, the symptoms vary. I usually always have the digestive ones but even those act differently from time to time. It can be very confusing. A journal is a good way to keep track of those wacky things. Recently I started having shoulder pain which I used to have for years, but in the opposite shoulder! It will pass...
  10. You are patient. I would have a very hard time returning to speak to anyone who repeatedly called me a fool. Not a very effective bedside manner. My GP made a similar mistake when he asked my symptoms from a glutening. One of them he laughed outright at. He's a family friend so I let him get away with it that day but the next time I see it, I will bring...
  11. I feel that way when my blood sugar gets too low or I'm dehydrated. Is that a possiblity?
  12. Sounds like you already have a good start but I'll add my 2 cents anyway. I like recipezaar for gluten-free recipes. You can make your own cookbook or request one made for you. There is also a shopping list feature. I haven't used that but it sounded good to me. A hint that helped me, was to go shopping including all your basics. When at home...
  13. This sounds more like CC than compromised immune system. What is your diet like?
  14. Not being a medical expert I can't tell you why weight gain can happen when eating gluten. My own opinion is it sets up an inflammation in my body and I retain water like crazy. If I just have a little, within a day or two, I'm in the bathroom a lot and the scales backs off overnight for me. Of course the years of eating gluten not knowing what it was...
  15. It's not as simple as everyone being thin before diagnosis. Many are overweight with out of control weight gain. I'm one of those. The weight comes on for me with the Gluten. Each person has individualized symptoms. I only gain weight now when I eat gluten or another substance I am sensitive to. I also can gain weight when I eat alternate grains...
  16. I take melatonin every night and have for years. Improved sleep and no bad reactions. If I forget, I wake up all tense and tired the next day. Oh yeah, I used to feel like this every day!
  17. My DD went through this also although your daughter had some very serious behavior issues that mine did not have to deal with. The benefit for us was she was rooming with four and the others backed her up. We were fortunate that the mother did not know this was happening. Finally DD had to call the mom directly, naturally DD had put all the utilities in...
  18. My rash took much longer than 2 weeks to heal but I did feel and improvement in the color and pain and itchiness in that time. The trial is a good idea since her father agrees. She will have to be eating gluten for the GI test thought as previously stated. Make sure she sees a pediatric GI as they will understand the problems in blood tests for younger...
  19. A food/symptom journal is an excellant way to nail down seemingly unrelated symptoms. It does sound like some other food is getting him. I could be wrong, I'm not a dr but I do know when I have a round of symptoms, it has always been something's "getting" me. I have a real problem with artificial sweeteners also. And the food dye, don't get me started...
  20. I agree that reading people's true life stories and struggles on this website changed my attitude and increased my overall knowledge of celiac disease. If she's confidant enough to do so, she could come to the section that is for family of a celiac patient. If she poses any questions, she will receive many truthfull and heartfelt answers that may help...
  21. Hey, everybody! I got a little behind. One week my Yahoo was down off and on and last week I was scrambling to get ready for a Bridal/Prom Show so I didn't have a spare moment. I have not lost any weight the last two weeks so I have maintaned my 3 pound loss. I just haven't focussed well. Financial problems have been really stressing me and...
  22. The only thing I replaced was my small teflon egg skillet, it was a mess & we were wanting to replace it anyway. Everything else I washed. I didn't even buy my own toaster till recently. That was a mistake but funds were a problem. Other posters have told you to keep eating gluten till your GI does an endoscopy. Exactly right. If you're planning...
  23. Brian has gotten over alot of his stomach pain, still some nausea, but his dh is , painful, burning, and tearing, are the words he uses to describe it. he can't stand to be in his own skin My DH only kicks up when I am glutened repeatedly, eating gluten every day. Last spring I traced it to the caramel coloring in my coffee syrups. I can still tolerate...
  24. I no longer have gas unless something is agravating my system. That can be gluten in that case I get D. Or it can be too much alternate grain, in that case I have C. When eating the way I should, I have no gassy episodes.
  25. I think if you are that concerned and she is that uncooperative, then you should speak to her dr. Call and ask to speak to the nurse the day before her appointment. Say when your mother is scheduled for her appointment and in a very short sentence or two sum up your fears about her. Say you would like to speak to her dr about her condition and just give...
