Can you list the ingredients on the yogurt? -
ARCHIVED Cookie Questions
ang1e0251 replied to WardGirl's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Parchment paper or release paper is what professionals use in their bakeries and candy factories. We used it in our candy shop but I've never used it for cookies. I agree that for chocolate chip I do not grease the sheets but some other cookies like peanut butter, I do. Use release paper for something incredibally sticky like coconut macaroons which seem... -
ARCHIVED New Diagnosis - Frustrated, Angy, Sad... Will It Pass?
ang1e0251 replied to disneymom62's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
You know at the one month point, it's probably a time where you feel pretty confidant about the basic meals you cook at home. You're starting to tire of the selection you've been sticking to during this time. You're ready to branch out and try some of your old foods cooked in the new way. You're starting to work your way into social situations again and... -
ARCHIVED Celiac And Hospital Stay

Thanks for that!! I'm going to show my husband. He has an employee and patient/client who have celiac disease. -
ARCHIVED Planning A Celiac Seminar
ang1e0251 replied to jennyj's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
One thing I did at a meeting was to save some packaging from products I use. I displayed them and told where to buy them. Then I did another display with look-alikes, products that are safe in one form but not in another. Like Lawry's Seasoned Salt is gluten-free but generic seasoned salt from our dollar store contains gluten. The packaging is very similar... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Intolerant Vs. Celiac ?
ang1e0251 replied to blc40's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
None of the tests given now will be positive since you've been eating gluten-free. If you are planning further testing for celiac disease, you must eating gluten some say for at least 3 months. Being gluten-free for your testing will result in negatives. Don't worry about the colonoscopy though. It doesn't test for celiac disease and it won't matter... -
ARCHIVED Basco Cake Mix?
ang1e0251 replied to teemaree's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Interesting read. I don't think I react to all soy on that list as I drink soy milk and use many of those prodects without a problem. But.. the guar gum is a big no-no for me. I've never noticed a problem with MSG but I avoid it. With spices, I just try to stick to single ingredient spices. That's worked for me. And you're right, different people... -
ARCHIVED What To Expect
ang1e0251 replied to Anthony22's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I'm going to second the question about the dog food. Or if you share a can opener with gluten items. You're both right. Gluten is sneaky and can hide in all kinds of places you wouldn't expect. The problem with foods marked gluten-free is that you tend to not read the labels that carefully. Read every label! Some gluten-free foods have small amounts... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Intolerant Vs. Celiac ?
ang1e0251 replied to blc40's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Welcome to the forum. This is a great place to ask all your questions. Did you have blood tests run for celiac disease? Which ones? If you post your results here, there are those who are very knowledgable and can explain your test results for you. There is a lot of debate here about the difference between gluten intolerant and celiac disease... -
ARCHIVED Frustrated At 5 Months...
ang1e0251 replied to Light's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
1. Should I be doing better at five months? Is it normal to have setbacks spanning weeks this far out? People have reported setbacks like yours. I would say it's pretty common from what I have read. It usually turns out to be "sneaky" gluten, other sensitivities or an illness like flu. Sneaky gluten is gluten that's sneaking into your diet from... -
Don't get ahead of yourself worrying about other allergies yet. It sounds like you have a good reason to suspect dairy so go ahead and cut it out. You will know how you feel soon. Then after you've been dairy free for awhile, challenge it by eating some dairy again. The reaction should be strong if that is your problem. Keep a diary for awhile to track...

ARCHIVED A New Weight Loss Support/accountability Thread
ang1e0251 replied to lonewolf's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I think I'm down about 1/2 pound. Had a busy week at the shop with Valentine's Day and also had some off days. Not feeling too well. Yesterday I woke up feeling amazing! Can't really figure it out... Oh well, I'll take the weight loss no matter what! Hope your Valentine's was fun! -
ARCHIVED Honey Kix
ang1e0251 replied to bisja's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I have been fine with the Honey Kix. I've been munching one box for a couple of weeks. Do you think it could be like the Lay's? You can eat them and be fine the first ten times you eat them but the eleventh time, Boom, reaction? That points to CC to me. Maybe I won't buy them again. Maybe when writing to these companies we can point out the number... -
ARCHIVED Vitamin E?
ang1e0251 replied to NancyKay's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
My biggest worry is that he usually only prefers things that have gluten in them: ramen noodles, chicken tenders with breading, spaghetti with no sauce. We had him eating some broccoli and corn on the cob at one time but he is now "over that." I can't help you with the ramen noodles although there are some rice noodle dishes out there. They... -
ARCHIVED Basco Cake Mix?
ang1e0251 replied to teemaree's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
What is the vegetable gum? After having a very bad reaction, I went back to my cookbook to read about each ingredient in the gluten-free food I had eaten. I had quite a bit of guar gum in it which my book says has a laxative affect and should be avoided by anyone with D as a symptom. Doink!! Well I will be throwing that away!! Hope you figure... -
ARCHIVED Potential Cure Getting Closer?
ang1e0251 replied to Ryan T's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I would have to say that I would like to see a much better track record of pharmaceuticals from the last 30 years to have complete faith in them. Maybe some folks had the good care to be diagnosed early in there health journey. Those of us who suffered long and have long lasting effects can't be so cavalier about our bodies. -
ARCHIVED Boyfriend With Celiac
ang1e0251 replied to Yasemin's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
That's not true about celiac sufferers all being small. I think the number is about 30% are overweight, I'm one. He eats a lot of prepackage gluten-free food. Well, that could be your culprit right there. I have a problem with a lot of those things too. There are a couple of reasons why they could bother him. Some items labeled gluten-free actually... -
ARCHIVED Boyfriend With Celiac
ang1e0251 replied to Yasemin's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Don't panic. Many of us have had recurring problems after being gluten-free for awhile. I'm going through a similar period right and am slowly honing in on what I'm reacting to. Can you tell a little about his diet? What he commonly eats? Does he eat prepackaged gluten-free food? How about dairy? With some clues about his diet someone will probably... -
I would add that Hormel Natural meats are easy to carry around too. I like the ham the best. If you don't have to make roll ups with cheese, just take the whole package with you. As said, fruit cups are good. Cottage cheese comes in small cups, yogurt, trail mix, cereal and even a small can of beans. Good luck, that junior year is a challenge.

Wishing you the best on your tests. I hope it gives you answers. We'll be here for you.

ARCHIVED Potential Cure Getting Closer?
ang1e0251 replied to Ryan T's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I have been through the Lactaid thing with milk and didn't do well with it. I would be wary of any drug that would claim this. I think, for me, the diet works and I do not want to put food in my body that is a poison to me. Even though they claim their drug can work, I can't see it work. I don't want to wake up one day with cancer or something just as... -
I think I would start out very systematically to identify the foods you really have a problem with. Why should you eliminate any food you only suspect? The way you can do this is with an elimination diet. My friend's grandson is eating this way right now per the instructions from his allergist and pediatric gastroenterologist. This is how they do...

ARCHIVED High School Graduation Party
ang1e0251 replied to Vlynx's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I also vote for gluten-free. Not because I could eat everything there, but because the guest of honor needs gluten-free food and the day is all about him. Frankly I would just tell DH and everyone else that I'm baking their gluten cake and not tell them it's the same gluten-free cake as your son's. We often serve sloppy joes at open houses and I would... -
ARCHIVED Bone Aches And Weird Pains
ang1e0251 replied to GlutenGuy36's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I'm so sorry you have to go through this. The pain isn't the only thing, it really is emotionally draining when you feel your body is working against you. I feel you are still reacting to some food or product you are being exposed to. How are your vitamin levels? Do you supplement A, B12 and magnesium? Those are pretty important to celiacs. A lot... -
I don't have any magic answers for you except what's already been mentioned. It does take time. You mentioned you are eating rice. What do you season it with? What else are you eating? I met some friends today who's daughter is celiac. She was still having pain and D. She recently visited an allergist who identified 5 other foods she's sensitive...
