  1. The kids are 5 and 9. Little one don't get it, but the oldest one understands but forgets. I will let them help themselves to stuff only if their hand are washed and they know food that is safe for everyone is on the bottom three shelves in the pantry. The gluten stuff is on the very top only. They have a dedicated section of counter and their own toaster...
  2. I'll have to look into this too. I've been using alot of Bob's stuff so maybe it is contributing to the problem since I'm sensitive to gluten free oats too.
  3. For kisses on the fly, I'll just give him a peck on the cheek. If we really want to kiss he has to go and brush his teeth and use mouth wash. We have not been doing much kissing lately since we both just got over colds. Now he has a sore throat and may be starting to get white spots on his tonsils, so no thanks I don't want tonsillitis. Both the kids...
  4. Has anyone used these products and how do you like them?
  5. I saw something at the health food store this morning similar to what you describe. Unfortunately it was vanilla flavored and I did not think that vanilla would be good in sandwich bread. Yes, I have tried goat milk in the past when I eliminated dairy when I was breastfeeding my youngest son. I did not like it at all. I tried lactaid milk too and it did...
  6. I really like this recipe form gingerlemom girl Open Original Shared Link My only problem is I don't know what to substitute for the dry milk powder. Could I just leave it out and not worry about it or could I just substitute the water in the recipe with some other milk substitute? I don't like soy milk so if I bought it for baking I'm afraid the rest...
  7. After I was diagnosed I had both my boys tested. My oldest one has been tested twice. Both my parents were tested also. All were negative. My mom does not show any signs or symptoms, but my dad I think could benefit from the diet. MY youngest son is doing well too. My oldest son is contimplating trying the diet over summer break. I will then reintroduce...
  8. If your wanting to pursue further testing (biopsy) you need to keep eating gluten. Depending how long it takes to get your specialist appointment and scheduled for biopsy if you are gluten free for a period of time it could skew the results. Or you could go back on gluten at that point for about 3 months and then do more testing, but may not show either...
  9. Glad to hear that you have such a positive attitute. I have eaten out a few times in the last 1 1/2 years. The steak house I went to twice was awesome. I stuck to the steamed veggie plate and thought I would get the steamed apples. The waitress came back and told me that chef said that the apples would not be safe. I have not had any problem at the two...

    ARCHIVED Inlaws

I think she was as relieved as I was. I guess I shouldn't assume things. I've always tried to stay clear of confrontation with her cause it can get uncomfortable. But I think next visit will be much better.
  11. Thanks. Funny thing is, I was not even going to register for the exam. The doctor's office had me scheduled over a month ago, and I've been insistent it's not gluten and that it was my gallbladder. I had a rough three weeks with the bloating and D that I went back last Mon to the doctor. He was pretty insistent that I have it done. Glad I did. I know...
  12. Hubby and I had a good talk about the shared house. Personally I would like for all of it to be gone and they can eat gluten outside of the home. Well he got very upset about it saying it wasn't fair to "ban" it from the house for only one person. I got equally mad and said I live here and I have every right to be able to not be sick from their stuff!...

    ARCHIVED Inlaws

After my EGD today I've been a little disappointed. I thought I was doing good. Anyway, my husband is wanting to plan another weekend trip over the mountain, through the woods to grandma's house. I did not have a good visit last time as I did not feel well. I told hubby that next time I was bringing/making all of my food, and figured mil would get offended...
  14. I don't know what part of the country you are in but what about a picnic at a local park or something? You could bring the food. I think it would be sweet.
  15. If they don't take enough samples or biopsy the exact areas (damage can be patchy and bowel can appear visually normal and have villi damage under the microscope) the biopsy could be a false negative. If your numbers are that elevated then it is pretty supportive of celiac. I went for an egd today (it's been 1 1/2 years since my last one that was positive...
  16. I just got back from my repeat EGD. I had it done because since Jan. I've been miserable. Well they found a small stomach ulcer , esophageal changes (not suprised since I've been having reflux), and mild inflamed small bowel, which he said he expected, but it visually looked better than last time. He took more biopsies in the small bowel and in stomach...
  17. There are probably some on here that are more knowledgable about this subject. I was looking on the internet one day about celiac and bipolar disorder (my husband's sister is dx and he has a family hx of depression and drug/alcohol addiction) and was wondering if there was a connection. Maybe someone on here can substansiate this or not. Here are some...
  18. That does sound good. I've got a whole chicken in the freezer. I know what I'm going to do with it now!
  19. I've baked with it alot (I had a 25# bag). It was good for most everything except pancakes. Couldn't get a pancake to turn out to save my soul. Cakes and stuff like banana bread turned out GREAT! Very light and tasted good. I now use my own blend, but wouldn't hesitate to buy it again. I did notice with cookies that I had to add some unflavored geletin...

    ARCHIVED Fiber

Flax seeds or flax meal are good. My brother likes to mix it in with yogurt. Prunes are great if you like them. Lately I've been eating about 5 every few days. Also if you like to bake you could try coconut flour. Very high in fiber and very filling and also low carb. I also like to mix it into my smoothies for extra fiber, protein and to make it thicker...
  21. Check out Health Valley cream of chicken soup. The last I knew it was gluten free, but I have not bought it in awhile. It tastes so much better than the old standby condensed soups. It is not condensed so you may have to adjust your liquids or use less or use something as a thickner ie cornstarch, arrowroot, potato starch, or a gluten free flour blend...
  22. I've never tried it, and I'm not brave enough to try.
  23. It is feasable that if you have sensitive skin and are prone to contact demratitis or DH that topical gluten could cause a problem. By default all my personal care products are gluten free. Anything that could potentially get into your digestive system such as lipstick, lip balm, facial makeup, hand lotion, hand soap, shampoo/conditioner (I have to watch...
  24. Your free T3 is on the low side. If you haven't allready get your free t4, tsh and thyroid antibodies checked. Hair loss can be from hypothroid also. My endocrinologist and I found that I do best with a very low tsh and slightly elevated free t3 and free t4.
  25. No problem. My Gi said that my bowel showed minor changes but that we would have to wait for the biopsy results. I picked that avatar because of my occupation. I thought it was fitting. I work as a X-ray/CT technologist.
