  1. I guess at first if bothered me some, but now I don't care. My MIL is always appoligizing to me when she eats something I can't have. I keep telling her I don't care and it does not bother me. The notion of what would happen to me if I did eat it is not so pleasent so I keep that in mind. It will get easier. As for him leaving stuff around, are you and...
  2. I've had better cake mixes, but it is decent. It works for when I have a hankering for something sweet.
  3. I agree with you that does not make alot of sense. If you really get down and look at things, all animals have something about them. The point is you want to eat product that is handled properly. My husband is a butcher so I'm a little biased and we love our meat!. He is very anal about our meat we buy. I don't even buy it anymore, that chore is left...
  4. I did replace my colander, but is was a plastic one. I now have a steel one and if by some chance it was to be used for gluten pasta I would just scrub it really good. You can see the residue on it really well.
  5. I may ask about this Open Original Shared Link I'm sure I'll get the huh? look but it seems reasonable. I am reluctant to undergo surgery just to have my symptoms continue.
  6. I may persue ph testing, but I think it is uncomfortable since they have to put something down through your nose into the stomach. I take probiotics on a regular basis and I asked if there is some kind of digestive enzymes I could take before I had my scope. I don't have a problem taking the zantac right now. I needed some relief and I was not getting...
  7. The frustrating thing is that I'm eating things that are good for me, like avacodos, using olive oil, nuts etc. and they make me as miserable as if I went out and ate greasy sausage and alot of it. The way I see it is that weather it's a good fat or bad fat, the gallbladder needs to excrete bile into the small intestine to digest it. Rice is agreeing...
  8. Thing is now I am not having any pain. No RUQ pain or referring pain to the shoulder, hence why the doc was reluctant to blame my gallbladder, and the fact the ultrasound was completly normal (I saw all the images when done and the us tech is extremely competent). I think after he found the ulcer he felt all the discomfort and symptoms were coming from...
  9. He didn't say what he thought might be the problem. I had two biopsies in the stomach. One was for H. pylori and the other biopsied the ulcer. Both were negative for H. pylori the bacteria associated mostly with ulcers. I don't take asprin at all and when needed I take ibuprofen maybe once a month or if I get my headaches every couple of months. I usually...
  10. I've been having some GI issues since Jan. Heartburn, bloating, belching, epigastric pain and diarrhea. I had a gallbladder ultrasound and Hida scan because I thought my gallbladder was giving me trouble. Had normal ultrasound and "technically" normal hida. Threshold for surgical intervention is an ejection fraction of 35% and mine was at 48%, not optimal...
  11. I used this recipe: Open Original Shared Link I made the following changes: I used the left over almond "pulp" from making almond milk for the almond meal, use brown sugar, used 1 cup of mashed banana that I had in the freezer, omitted the cardamom because I did not have any, used 1/8 tsp. of salt and nutmeg, and coconut oil. I decided to add a streusel...
  12. Have you tried wild rice, buckwheat, millet, teff or amaranth? I have only tried the first three in whole grain form and all in flour. Millett makes a great substitute for rice.
  13. Thanks. I was not sure if almond milk would work or not. I've been making my own and using it for smoothies, cereal and in baking. I recently used it in my pancake recipe and it was delish.
  14. I eat quinoa frequently. I usually use some sort of broth with it or seasonings. I have heard it cooks well in a rice cooker too. I however have a rice steamer and It did not work. I don't want to go out and buy a cooker since I already have the steamer. It works just fine on the stove as long as I don't forget about it. Here are a few recipes that...
  15. What could you use if you are avoiding dairy?
  16. I don't mean this in any negative way, but it sounds like she needs a regular routine, especially bedtime. I can see why she would not want to eat in the morning if she is up late snacking. I have to eat breakfast to even have energy for the day. I wake up hungry, but don't always get to eat right away because of some of my meds I take in the morning....
  17. I want a gluten free kitchen, but dh won't go for it. I can feed the kids gluten free food all day and they don't mind. Just hubby. He definately got more serious again since recently I was diagnosed with a stomach ulcer and with my AGA IgG still being positive.
  18. Mostly what they think is weird is my baked goods and when I eat quinoa. Otherwise everything else is pretty straight forward. The only reason they give weird faces is because they "know" my stuff is gluten free. Like that makes it taste terrible or something. People are funny when it comes to change, I try to be open minded but I have to admit that...
  19. I have not had any friends cook for me. My MIL has and I have since rethought that position. We are going over this weekend and I am making/bringing all my food and told her I would take care of myself. My mom has cooked for me at my house, so no problem there and we cook together at her house after a good cleaning and me bringing some of my own ingredients...
  20. People that work on my shift tend to think I eat weird stuff. The staff from the other dept is slowly coming around to want to try my stuff, only because the registration clerk's husband was diagnosed celiac recently and the other one just likes to eat well. My dept. coworkers all want to try what I have made and most ask for it. One lady is now really...
  21. I called the manufacturer that makes Off just this year (around Feb.) and they told me off has gluten in it. I have used badger anti-bug balm. The ingredient list is citronella oil, cedar oil, lemongrass oil, rosemary oil, geranium oil, organic extra virgin olive oil, beeswax and castor oil. It works but you have to apply it more often. I am also going...
  22. It would be helpful for you to list the other ingredients. More than likely something else got you, but the possibility is still there.
  23. Good info for those who are not aware that buckwheat is gluten free. My complaint with the bulk bins was with the oats. I don't eat oats, even gluten free ones and they were in the buckwheat that I wanted to purchase. It would be so simple to separate the gluten grains/seeds from the gluten free ones. They showed me the bulk bag they bought the buckwheat...
  24. Off bug repellant. Was looking at all my cleaning products etc for hidden gluten and the rep told me that this had gluten in it. Weird.
  25. The colonoscopy is not going to help with getting a celiac diagnosis. However it is a good screening tool if you are having other problems that could be colon related. I had one done two months after my celiac diagnosis and I was 35. The doctor removed a polyp I am glad I had it done for the peace of mind.
