ARCHIVED Anyone Take Immodium For Their Bowel Issues
Roda replied to willabec's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I can sympathize with you. I've been gluten free now for 1 yr 8 months. Out of the blue starting this Jan. I started with the horrible heartburn. I originally was thinking I was getting gluten somewhere (my reactions usually are heartburn, burping and constipation) but then I started getting a pinching sensation in my RUQ and pain in the epigastric region... -

Just curious if anyone has anything to share? This medication works much the same way as Questran(cholestyramine), so if anyone has any experience with the questran also I'd like to hear. -
ARCHIVED New Finds For Me
Roda replied to Roda's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Sorry it took so long to reply, I've been on vacation since the 18th. My absolute favorite cheese for grilled cheese is sharp cheddar. I usually use salami or ham with it but since we were going out of town we were out so, pepperoni it was. -
I'm 5'7" and average height for my family. Come to think of it I was the same height at 16. My father is 5'11", my mom at her tallest was 5'7" (She has osteoporosis and has shrunk about 2" so far. She can't take any of the meds for osteoporosis because of the side effects) and my brother is 5'10". I don't know of anyone over 6' tall in either sides of...

ARCHIVED Does Anyone Else Have Other Auto Immune
Roda replied to ivegotitalso's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Yep, I have hashimotos disease. I was diagnosed with it in 2000. Probably had celiac then and just didn't know it. -
I just got back from vacation. My neighbor was taking care of my garden. Everything looks great except for my squash plants I have in bags. They did not get nearly enough water. Two are probably not going to make it but the rest will. I'm not really upset because he was nice enough to take care of it for me and he and his wife are the best neighbors...

ARCHIVED New Finds For Me
Roda posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I went to the local health food store to pick up a few things for my trip north tommorow. I have not been in there in probably over a month or more. Wow, they were having a great sale and they have stocked some new products. The first thing I saw was Edward & Sons Let's Do Gluten Free ice cream cones. I had to have them! I love cake cones. I have... -
ARCHIVED This Is Gluten Free Right?
Roda replied to Luvbeingamommy's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
If the modified food starch was made from wheat it would have to state it on the lable. The ingredient I would question is the natural flavors. This can hide other forms of gluten (not wheat) mostly barley. -
ARCHIVED Won't Wear Clothes
Roda replied to jase's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Same here. I'm always cold and want to dress them accordingly. My husband runs hot too. I like to snuggle with the three of them because they are nice and warm. Even when they were babies I would go by how my husband felt, hot/cold, when dressing the kids. They are old enough now to tell me. I always know when my oldest son is hot because his ears get... -
ARCHIVED Still Have Active Coeliac Disease

Could anyone be using "your" toaster at work without your knowledge? -
I finally went back to the doctor today to discuss my ongoing issues with terrible diarrhea and the intermittent pain in my upper right side of my abdomen. I think it is probably realated to my gallbladder. We discussed various things and I brought up Habba syndrome. I appreciate his honesty that he had heard of it, but did not know much about it. Anyway...

ARCHIVED Gluten-Free Rice Krispie Treats
Roda replied to Grace'smom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I eat kraft marshmallows and marshmallow fluff all the time. I don't see why it would matter in the recipe if you used kraft instead of the other brand. As for the mention of it in (or lack there of) in recipes, that particular brand is what they used. The traditional marshmallow fluff has been around and people tend to buy what is most familure. -
I've been told by my endocrinologist, gyn and gi doctor that my vitamin D level should be a minimal of 50 and optimal at 70. When I started supplementation about 1 1/2 years ago my level was around 17. It is up past 60 now. I have been taking prescription 50,000 iu of vitamin D since then and all my doctors said for me to stay on it year round.

ARCHIVED Gastritis And Acid Reflux Question
Roda replied to Luvbeingamommy's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Could the plavix or any other medication be causing the gastritis? -
Thursday husband and I drove 300 miles to WV and met my parents about half way to their house. They live in NW PA and my boys are spending a week with them. We will be going up to stay for a week also on the 18th. This is the first time I have ever been away from my youngest (ds1 is 9 and ds2 is 5). I did spend 5 days in Chicago when the oldest was around...

ARCHIVED Need gluten-free Rice/Almond Milk
Roda replied to jasonD2's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I've tried the pacific and blue diamond almond milk and really don't like them after making my own. I just keep a big bag of almonds on hand and when I want it I blanch them, remove the skins and put it in the blender with filtered water. I then pour it into a jelly straining bag to drain and squeeze out the remainder of the liquid. I use 1 1/2 cup almonds... -

Man, I'm so gonna make these! I used to make these awesome grilled pizzas and I have not had them in such a long time. I will still use the old recipe, and use this for the dough. I'm one happy person right now. Open Original Shared Link

This reminded me of something my husband told me. He is a butcher for a local grocery and is the manager of the department. He is constantly having to throw away meat product because people, especially children, poke holes in the shrink wrap. This costs him money since he can not resell the item. This really makes him mad. On several occasions he has...

All my stuff is doing good. My four volunteer tomato plants out of all seven are doing the best. I have one tomato on my mr. stripy plant the size of my thumb! I have romaine lettuce coming out of my ears. I've been cutting lots of oregano and mint. My beans are nice and I think they will blossom soon. The cucumbers are starting to vine. I have two...

ARCHIVED The Funny Pages - Tickle Me Elbow - The Original
Roda replied to TriticusToxicum's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Well, my morning started out with a bang. Husband wakes me up around 06:20 and tells me the dog had an accident on the floor. GAWD! I get up and he does help me by scraping up the doggie diarrhea puddle with a putty knife into a plastic bag. Marshall, our german shephard, must have felt sympathy for me and decided to get the scoots too. Darn those kids... -
ARCHIVED Yeast Overgrowth In A Kiddo Just Dxn?
Roda replied to Luvbeingamommy's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My youngest, when he was a baby, continually had thrush and yeast diaper rashes. I knew he had a bad bowel overgrowth (from antibiotic use) when his stool smelled yeasty and he was passing stings of mucus with no stool. Not everybody is comfortable with giving them medication, but in our case I opted for medicine prescribed by his pediatrician. I also...
