  1. As far as diagnosis, the hashimotos first in early 2000 and celiac in Sept 2008. Quite awhile between diagnosis. In hindsight I think I may have been celiac long before I got the hashi's diagnosis. I had chronic constipation as an infant/toddler with at least two impactions, as a young child/teenager would have bouts with constipation that I just attributed...
  2. Well at least your doctor did all the right thyroid tests. IMHO, Yes you should consult an endocrinologist and the gastroenterologist too. Autoimmune diseases tend to run together. Alot of us on here have thyroid issues. I was diagnosed with hashimotos disease in 2000. I know I had it several years before this because a friend of mine who did an ultrasound...
  3. Yes, and more so when not taking the enzymes. It also would get very, what I consider acidic, because it caused irritation and burning in other areas that I had to get a steroid/nystatin cream from the gyn. At my worst I was fearful of not making it to the bathroom in time and was having a seeping problem. UGG! THe other thing that has me thinking gb...
  4. That is what the author calls it. I agree with you on the spoon . After we made it I couldn't stop licking the spatula.
  5. I just did a 24 hour fecal fat quantatitive test. Very similar to the 3 day. It tests how much fat is in the stool. If over a certain amount then you have "malabsorption". Mine was 25.8 with a reference range of 0-6. However it did not differentiate what kind of "fat" it was. THe lab where mine was run I found that there is a fecal fat qualitative test...
  6. I made them tonight. They were good. The only problem I have is that my bread crumbs brown so quickly. Anyone have any ideas? I noticed this with premade crumbs too (I make and dry my own bread in a very low oven). I'm beginning to wonder if it is just a property of gluten free bread crumbs. I may not freeze them for the whole hour just half an hour...
  7. Mine was 17 also (range 32-100) and was put on RX vitamin D 50,000 iu capsules once a week and I am still currently taking this dosage. I was retested at 3 months and it went up to the minimum range. I have had labs over the last 1 1/2 years since I started taking it and I am now at 64.2. My GI, endo and gyn all recommended me staying on it year round...
  8. I know this isn't a marinade or bbq sauce recipe, but it might entice your daughter with fruit. I posted it earler so here is the link.
  9. My 5 year old and I made this fruit dip today. It is out of a cookbook he got for Christmas last year. It is super easy to make and was a big hit with both of my boys. The rest of the book is really cute, has text and picture directions for the kids, easy and I'm sure alot of the recipes could be adapted to gluten free. The title is Pretend Soup And Other...
  10. Here is the link to their recipe page. Like I said before I didn't care for the consistency of the almond milk for drinking or cereal (I prefer to make my own for this), but it was great for baking and cooking. Open Original Shared Link
  11. Glad to hear others eat them without problems. I really think they are fine, but going back a third time to look at things.
  12. These look good and easy. I'm wanting them now! Open Original Shared Link
  13. I am currently searching for a tortilla chip that is safe to eat. I do not like mission one at all. I have been eating Santitas made by frito lay. I don't believe I have a problem with them but I'm just going over a few things. Anyone have luck with these or have any other suggestions?
  14. I can understand your stress. I went gluten free the end of Oct. 08 and up until Jan of this year I felt great. Since then I have had issues and I'm still having problems. I don't feel nearly as bad as I did before gluten free, but still not fine. I have another appointment next week to discuss such issues. I know I have a fat malabsorption right now...
  15. I eat it too as I know the bottle I have is gluten free. I could find no info on their website, but on their meats website they have meat products using their original bbq sauce and they do have gluten info on there. Open Original Shared Link Also I just checked my Cecelia's marketplace gluten-free grocery shopping guide 2008/2009 version (I also checked...
  16. Jade Dragon soy sauce is gluten free. My bottle says: hydrolyzed soybean and corn protein, water, corn syrup, salt, carmel color. I also found this brand listed in my gluten-free grocery shopping guide (Cecelia's markeplace). Also San-jay makes a organic tamari wheat free soy sauce.
  17. I believe Sweet Baby Ray's bbq sauce is gluten free. My kids love it.
  18. I made the chocolate pudding from their recipe page and it was really really good! I liked the taste of it but I didn't like the consistency, just too thick for me.
  19. I did about a month and a half of dairy free and saw no significant changes. I don't seek out soy, but I know I get it in products. The only positive changes I have seen is when I eat virtually only rice and eggs or by taking the enzymes. I too think that is significant. I'm still at a loss for that sensation in my abdomen I get. Good idea to ask ahead...
  20. Well I did the dreaded fecal fat stool test and the nurse called me today. She told me that my test showed malabsorption and the doctor wants me to take prednisone for about a month and follow up. I told her I was very reluctant to take steroids and would rather discuss the issue in person with him. So I have an appointment next Tuesday. I knew the test...
  21. I was 35 when I was diagnosed and it will be two years this Sept.
  22. You may want to have your thyroid levels, iron, ferritin and vitamin D checked. All can cause fatigue.
  23. Well I wasn't able to start classes. I had decided to push it back and start in Jan. but I wasn't able to make that work either. However, it isn't a lost cause. I was approached the beginning of June by my supervisor and they wanted to know if I would be interested in cross training. So since the beginning of this month I have been at another facility...
  24. I found a retailer that carried Katz products. I bought two loaves of the challah bread. Well, while it isn't bad, it is not my favorite either. My husband did not like the taste at all and I prefer the taste of the Udi's better. So for sandwiches I'll take the Udis and husband would eat this too if he had to. I did let the Katz loaf dry out a little...
  25. Never had poison ivy until I was 32 years old. I thought I was "immume" to it. I've had it every year since then. I have alot of it growing in my woods in my back yard. My kids run and play back there and neither of them have gotten it yet. I heard somewhere that children are less suseptible to it and we get more so as we get older however, I can not...
