  1. What aspect is outdated? I find the site very hard to navigate and get info from.
  2. I too had low HDL that needed raised and my triglyceride level was almost off the chart low. I had a doctor tell me that I was lucky! I didn't know any better at the time as these tests were done as part of an employee health benefit around 6 years ago. I just had it rechecked in April and everything has normalized. I still need to raise the HDL some...
  3. I do not allow any regular flour in the house. Most of the baked goods (gluten free of course) are loved by my boys and husband. Meals we eat together are made so everyone can eat them. I thought the shared household was working for me but now I'm not so sure. I'm reevaluating it now. Many do have shared houses and do so successfully.
  4. I make this alot and I love it! Open Original Shared Link Here is another link. I have made the crunchy buckwheat cereal. I love it on top of yogurt. Open Original Shared Link
  5. The method you describe with the jelly is not recommended anymore. You should use a water bath canner or freeze it for saftey. For low acid foods (except tomatoes and anything pickled) you need a pressure canner to heat it up to adequate temperature to kill bacteria. Inside the box with the pressure canner is an instruction book and how to can just about...
  6. This is the recipe I use and my husband and two boys who are not gluten free love them. We do stir in some mini cinnamon chips into the batter which makes them even better! Open Original Shared Link
  7. For quick things, I like to keep on hand blue diamond nut thins (these don't last to long at my house...I have to fight my boys over them), kind bars, nature valley roasted nut crunch bars, bakery on the main granola bars, ruth's power flax bars, boomi bars, raw almonds, craisens and cheese sticks. All of these are easy and very portable and make snacking...
  8. Well, I'm feeling a wee bit depressed this evening. I just recieved a call from the GI docs office and was told that my gliadin antibodies are still positive. My gliadin IgA was 13 (15 in Feb. 2010) and the IgG was 58 (61 in Feb. 2010) reference range was <19 neg and the other was a "strong positive". My fist tests for this were 6 months after diagnosis...
  9. Well the good news is everything looks normal on the CT scan! I've been taking the creon when I eat and I have noticed a difference that I have not bloated up after eating (and hubby made hash for dinner one night which would have made me miserable). I still am working the oral contrast out of my system. It didn't bother me until almost 24 hours later...
  10. Sounds like you are already getting answers to his reaction.
  11. I ended up going in for my scan tonight. Wow! that was weird! The oral contrast was gluten free as I called the company. It was really nasty and hard to get down especially since I have been bloated up since lunch time. The IV contrast did make me feel warm. It was like it started in the middle of my body and went out. The only way I can describe it...
  12. Just thought I would post some updated information on the CT barium. I inquired with this company because I am having a scan tomorrow and this is the brand we have in our department.
  13. I just thought I would post this info here too in case anyone came across this post. I'm having this done probably this week. You have to drink a total of three bottles of the CT barium (different from the contrast you drink for a regular ct abdomen), one bottle every 20 minutes. Then they place around an 18 guage int into your arm to inject the IV contrast...
  14. Well, I had my appointment today. I discussed everything I wanted to with him. He feels that it is my celiac acting up. I told him that I do not cheat at all and that yes, I have had a few accidents. I told him the only way I felt my diet wasn't strict enough was that I possibly could be getting cc'd from home still or low levels of gluten are affecting...
  15. Maybe he was thinking on the lines of the arthritis?? There are many forms that seem to be linked with celiac.
  16. I've tried Udi's and Katz. Udi's has a white and multigrain and the white is not as dry. Katz is very moist and more dense and has a sweet taste I didn't care for. So, I like Udi's out of the bag for making sandwiches or grilled cheese. Not wanting to waste the Katz, I made french toast and it wad good.
  17. When I get into poisen ivy it last quite awhile. The worst case I had it didn't completely clear up for 3 weeks! I had no doubt it was PI. If you are pretty certain you didn't come in contact with it look into the DH possiblility like raven said.
  18. Just another thought. Can you have tortilla chips? We make chicken finger strips out of crumbed tortilla chips. Take a bag of tortilla chips and make crumbs. Add in a package or more to taste of taco seasoning (or make your own if you can't have the mixes). Dip the cut chicken into egg and then coat with the crumb mixture. Place on baking sheet and...
  19. Here is a cake I make all the time. No flour at all as it is made out of beans. The only thing you would need to find a substitute for is the ricotta/cream cheese. I have had tofuti better than cream cheese and used it in this and it tasted fine. The recipe is originally for sugar free, but I substitue sugar all the time and it is fine. My recent changes...
  20. All great suggestions. Thanks!
  21. I didn't even know about cytomel. I started with an encrinologist in 2007 (had not seen one since 2003 regular dr. took care of my thyroid, albeit not well) and she immediatly lowered my levothyroxine and added in cytomel. What a difference! I wish I had known about it years before. I don't ever want to go back to T4 alone. The T4/T3 combination works...
  22. I guess this does sound confusing. I liked the pudding made with it. What I didn't like was to drink the silk almond milk or like it on cereal because of its thickness. It was great for the pudding.
  23. I work with a lady whose husband was just diagnosed about 6 months ago and he is mid 60's. However she said he has had symptoms for at least the past 30 years and was misdiagnosed with everything but celiac. He missed out on alot of school functions and trips because of his debilitating diarrhea. He was a truck driver and always kept plastic bags and a...
  24. My oldest had colic really bad and when I eliminated dairy from my diet he was fine. He also had very bad constipation problems until about 3.5 years old. We were told to give him more apple juice, then mineral oil, on to fleets enemas, a barium enema and then miralax for almost 18 months. My youngest one was colicy and had reflux bad. When I eliminitated...

    ARCHIVED Vemma

Wheat has to be declared in the ingredient list but barly and rye don't and could be "hidden" under the term natural flavors. Alot of natural flavors are gluten free, you just need to contact the company to find out.
