    ARCHIVED Inlaws

Well, it's that time again for another trip to the inlaws. Last one didn't go as planned. Anyway, now with me being extra careful, I absoulutely told her I wouldn't eat anything! She obviously doen't understand what that means because she kept asking my husband for a week straight if I could eat this or that! He finaly said to her to shut up about it...
  2. Let me start off by saying I'm sorry you were treated like this and now here is to healing and a doctor that did finaly help you figure it out. I can honestly say that yes I was angry, not at my diagnosis but at my doctor that dismissed me too. I didn't go undiagnosed as long as you, 2 1/2 years from onset of bad symptoms, but I was frustrated none...
  3. I bought a small amount of moon dough and was disapointed with it. I did purchase soy-yer dough and it works well with all the play dough toys. The only complaints I have about it is that when it gets really warm it gets sticky and will stick to everything and is hard to get off and when stored for any lenght of time it can crystalize a bit. Even so we...
  4. I found the article while looking up IgG, IgA, IgE, and IgM. My youngest went for skin allergy testing last week (his third time and is almost 6) and everything was normal. I had him off his zyrtec for a week prior and he looked like crap when we went. He had congestion, red swollen eyes and the lovely raccoon eyes. Since then his symptoms have progressed...
  5. Found this article interesting and it references celiac quite a bit. Found it researching information for my youngest son. Open Original Shared Link
  6. My youngest has had chronic rhinosinusitis since an infant. Has been allergy tested three times and shows nothing up on his allergy testing. Our new allergist is leaning toward food intolerence and we are retesting him for celiac. THe poor kid has been on so many allergy meds, breathing treatments, nasal steriods, and antibiotics in his life. I'm so over...
  7. I know what you mean about testing negative for allergies. My youngest was just retested (his third time) and no reactions whatsoever. I am finally convincing my husband that I think the root of his sinus problems is food related. Our new allergist is thinking somekind of food intolerence and is going to get him retested for celiac. I had him tested two...
  8. My mood is much more level than it was before diagnosis. It was the worse during pms. My hubby said I turned into a psyco "witch" (just replace the first letter). My mood swings are soo much better off gluten. I don't seem to get upset over trivial things as much either anymore except with extreme lack of sleep. I'm convinced my father has celiac...
  9. Well all of his skin allergy testing was negative again. I am happy, but still no answers. The new allergist did say that maybe he still has an intolerence to something and also wants to recheck him for celiac. He was going to research and find out what the latest and best tests to order. He mentioned the Deamidated Gliadin Peptide (DGP) Antibodies so...
  10. I think dairy would be hard for him. He does not drink much milk and never did like it when I weaned him. He so does like cheese though. As for cooking/baking that's no problem since I like almond milk. He does do milk on his cereal but won't drink what is left. He goes tommorow for his appointment. I just hope we can get some answers. I will do whatever...
  11. I know what you mean. None of us in my house like any rice based pasta! The only gluten free pasta I can get the whole family to eat is SamMills and it is a corn pasta.
  12. He has been tested for celiac in 2008 after my diagnosis. They only did the tTg. I can't get hubby on board to do gluten free with the kids without a diagnosis! I think I will ask for all the tests again just to be sure.
  13. I bought this some time ago because it looked interesting. I made some tonight and it was really good and even my kids liked it. It is a nice alternative to other gluten free pastas and it is grain free. I tossed it with some chick peas that I roasted with onion, garlic tomatoes, parsley and olive oil. I then put sauted chicken pieces I coated in seasoned...
  14. I was hoping to hear from anyone who has experience with food allergy testing. I am having my almost 6 year old retested for allergies since we switched allergists. He has had chronic rhinosinusitis since about two months old and had horrible reflux till about 10 mo. He also had reactive airway problems as a baby due to the reflux and was on nebulizer...
  15. I am also one that can not tolerate pure certified gluten free oats. I react very badly. I sympathize with you!
  16. We are going in January. We will be doing most of our own cooking, but this is good to hear, since hubby and I would like at least one night out ALONE, while the kids are with their grandparents. I can't wait to have a romantic eve. out with my sweetie!
  17. Glad it turned out well. I haven't eaten rabbit in several years. We raised them when I was a kid. I've got a possible lead on someone locally to maybe get a few and put in the freezer. My youngest son when he was three saw a bunny hopping in the park and said to me "mommy, I want to eat that bunny!" I laughed so hard, he was so serious. Two years later...
  18. My opinion I would look at the brands of potato and cornstarch you are using. I eliminated all of BRM products in a hope to find a reason for my still elevated antigliadin IgG antibody. They process the gluten free oats in the gluten free facility (of course they would ) and I am very sensitive to gluten free oats, reacting very badly. My thought was...
  19. Yes you can have just some of the tests to be elevated. The tTg was the only test that was done originally for me and it was positive. Six months later my tTg was normal but the antigliadin antibodies were still elevated. A year post diagnosis the tTg is still negative as is the IgA antigliadin but my IgG antigliadin was still elevated. I've made some...
  20. Yum rabbit! I wish I was at your house for dinner! If you think you are too acidic then give the liquid anticid a try. You can get an off brand and it's pretty cheep. I kept a bottle and labled it just for that use. I also did an emulsion with petroeulum jelly to help it stay on. At one point the acidity in my son's stool was causing his bottom to...
  21. If chafing is the problem then petroleum jelly or a good diaper rash cream like desitin works wonders and protects the skin while it heals. If you have irritation from going to the bathroom a lot or from diarrhea then I have found (my child's pediatrician recommended this) that liquid antacid rubbed on the area will help neutralize the acid and clear it...
  22. I was 35 when I was diagnosed.
  23. I use coconut oil frequently and have used it in the brownie mix with great sucess. I love the flavor it imparts. Yes it is high fat but it is fats that are good for you.
  24. I've seen a few episodes too. One was a woman who ate only french fries for every meal. The other episode was a guy that only ate pizza. The guy ended up having food allergies and was addicted to what he was allergic to in his case I think it was dairy. The nutritionist that was working with him also told him it wasn't good to eat that much refined wheat...
  25. I'm in the States and I eat Craisins all the time. On the back of my current bag (Craisins Original) at the top it states peanut free, gluten free and has an astrick beside it and then below states "Excludes Trail Mix items". Hope this helps.
