Sorry to hear of your loss. If you are able, pack some things in a cooler. That would probably be your best bet.

ARCHIVED Help With Test Results Please
Roda replied to judysj's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
You very well could have inhaled some airborn flour and gotten gluten that way. Also you should wipe down and clean your kitchen since you were baking with regular flour. I have seen on different posts here that it can stay airborn for awhile before setting down on the counters etc. So cleaning immediatly after, while good to do, will not prevent the cc... -
Anyone here eat corn nuts? From what I can gather as of 2007, CornNuts is part of Planters, a subsidiary of Kraft Foods. The ingredients seem alright for the plain, but concerned about the "flavors" in the rest. I used to love these things but I probably won't eat them, instead I am looking for snacks for my son. They also have come out with a Corn Nut...

I never was on any acid inhibitors until after I had my repeat EGD that showed the ulcer. I had been having problems since Jan. The doctor wanted me to take the zantac for 6 months but I quit taking it after about 2-3 months. I haven't had the need for any since. He wan't to happy with me for stopping it. I know the ulcer has healed since the stomach...

ARCHIVED Who Survived Thanksgiving?
Roda replied to sandsurfgirl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I had a good Thanksgiving also. It was just my husband, our two boys and myself. It was cozy just the four of us. All our meals(that we eat together) are glutetn free. Noone in my house cares for stuffing so I don't have to bother with that. My husband did a rub on half a turkey and smoked it several hours with apple wood then I roasted it in the oven... -

I was wondering the same thing. Come Monday give them a call. -
Thanks!!! I still think I have minor gallbladder dysfunction, but for now that is managable! Now on to focusing on my son who I started on the diet a week ago and I think the oldest son is on borrowed time until he can get his blood work. Happy holiday's to you too!

Going on two weeks without the creon and I have not had any major issues. I'm hoping the elimination of alot of gluten free mainstream products and even gluten free products is doing the trick. I did that around the same time as I started the creon. I'm cautiously optimistic!

ARCHIVED Behavior And Appetite
Roda replied to Roda's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
He is eating pretty much what I am, with the exception of a few snacks. He is eating our regular dinners, yogurt (I know it is safe), craisens, nut thins, cheese sticks, glutino pretzels, cottage cheese, fruits/veggies and fresh meats that I cook. I have eliminated a lot of gluten free products because I had been suspecting I was having issues. For flours... -
My husband put a rub on a half a turkey and smoked it for a couple of hours with apple wood. I then roasted it in the oven. It was great. Ate leftovers today and there isn't much turkey left. The other half he smoked and put in the freezer and we will have it at Christmas. I also made mashed potatoes with gravy, lemon buttered carrots, sugar cookies...

ARCHIVED Tried The Tinkyada Pasta
Roda replied to TPT's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I don't like Tinkyada pasta at all. I have tried so many gluten free pastas and I don't like most. I'm not expecting it to taste exactly like it's wheat counterpart, just wanting it to be palatable and not mushy. I finaly found one we all like it is Sam Mills and it is the cheepest around that I have found too! It comes in different shapes also. Open... -
ARCHIVED Jack Link's And Mountain Dew Voltage
Roda replied to Roda's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Jack Link's is a brand of beef jerkey and beef jerky. Here is the link. There is a question regarding gluten, but they seem to only say they will list wheat. I emailed them so I will see. Just thought I would see if anyone had any info also. I figure the soda is fine, but was questioning the other. Open Original Shared Link -
ARCHIVED Jack Link's And Mountain Dew Voltage
Roda posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I put my youngest son gluten free a week ago. The boys went out with dad and came back with Mountain Dew Voltage and Jack Link's KC Masterpiece Barbeque beef steak. My gluten free child had already eaten the beef steak and had drank some of the Mountain Dew. Both have natural flavorings or flavorings on the lable. I guess it's too late if they are not... -
OMG! My child is moodier than usual and I can't seem to feed him enough. Is this typical with removing gluten in the early stages? He has always had little temper tantrums once and a while but the slightest thing is setting him off right now. Part of the problem is that he stayed up late last night but I don't think that is all of it. Also everytime...

ARCHIVED Generic Liquid Ranitidine
Roda replied to Roda's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I did try and call the manufacturer and I have yet to recieve any information. I also called the manufacturer of zantac and inquired about their products. I was told that they couldn't verify the liquid but all other products there were not gluten containing ingredients. So looks like liquid medicine probably is out. I'll call the drs office next day... -
ARCHIVED So Confused. Celiac Or Not
Roda replied to realmaverick's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Did they check your ferritin level? I was severely deficient in ferritin with a normal blood count and was vitamin D deficient also. With both levels raised I feel good! To get a complete thyroid test you need a TSH, free T3, free T4 and thyroid antibodies. -

ARCHIVED Positive Blood Test For My 4 Year Old
Roda replied to Lunabell's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I would probably go ahead and get all the kids, you and dad blood tested now. My youngest son just showed up with a positive celiac test (negative 2 yrs ago), but I am not going to do the biopsy for him. Since I am diagnosed (blood and biopsy), his symptoms and the positive test it was enough for me to put him gluten free. THat said, if I did not have celiac... -

ARCHIVED Steatorrhea
Roda replied to Dixiebell's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I had this happen this year. Major Steatorrhea. My doctor said, based on my high test that I was malabsorbing. I was having daily D and could barley make it to the bathroom. He wanted me to take steriods, but I refused. I decided to take a look again at what I was eating. I eliminated all prepackaged foods, with exception of a few, and even labled gluten... -
