  1. My oldest son has had testing for celiac 3 times and every one was negative. He too has enviornmental allergies that he has been doing imunotherapy for since he was 6 (he is almost 10 now). He recently was reallergy tested and while some of his previous allergies resolved, he still had some of the original allergies and two new ones. He started on new...

    ARCHIVED Fosamax

My mom can not take any of the drugs to treat osteopenia/osteoporosis because they affected her jaw and the side effects.
  3. That's what I was thinking about keeping it up at school. I may move it up to spring break so we don't have to worry about school. Funny thing is he isn't acting out at school at all yet. He doesn't want his teacher to know about how he is acting. I don't forsee us having to do it long. I think we will have our answer within a few days to a week. I...
  4. Well we are in a full blown upset tonight and he also hit his brother with a metal handle. So not good! This too shall pass...I hope
  5. I tried these just last month along with the chocolate chip (bought the two pack for my son's snack box at school) and we both disliked them. We perfer homade ones.
  6. My youngest son only had one test positive the ttg which is the test for the damage and I put him gluten free without the gi consult, but I'm diagnosed so the decision was easy for me. My oldest son's tests are negative but his allergist strongly feels that he is gluten intolerent and needs to be gluten free too(just got this info today). Just so you know...
  7. I agree. The first thing my youngest son tried was a very ripe mashed bananna. It is similar in taste too. I didn't introduce my youngest son to solids until he was 6 months old, but that was my personal preference because he had reactions to foods through the breastmilk (yes I did eliminate them) and he was doing so well with just breastmilk. However...
  8. The appendicitis or surgery could have triggered it. Also something to consider is that since you eat alot of gluten free at home, you might not be eating enough gluten to trigger the antibody reaction. It definately is worth the consult to the gi. You could choose to do an EGD with small bowel biopsy. It is not uncommon for people to have negative blood...
  9. I changed my children's allergist last July. My first visit I was impressed. I'm still impressed today after taking my oldest son for his first injections on his new allergy serum. His allergies to most fall weeds have resolved but his cockroach and dust mite allergy remains as well as developing new allergies to molds and tree pollen. I had him retested...
  10. I have had gluten reaction changes. Initally I presented with horrible heartburn and constipation. I was fine until Jan. 2010 and for almost 8 months last year I was having horrible bloating, heartburn and extreme diarrhea(was afraid to leave the house for fear of accidents). I tried eliminated many things, but until I eliminated all of the processed foods...
  11. Here is a link to another topic to a recipe that you can make these from scratch. I buy Ener G brand tapioca starch in a case of 12 now because my family has me make these so much.
  12. I talked briefly with the school nurse this morning. She is going to find out what soap they use. I requested that his table be wiped down after snack (it is wiped down at the end of the day so in the morning until snack it should be fine). I also requested at the very least, the children sharing a table with him wash after snack also. She was pretty...
  13. I think the presentation is a great idea. I just don't think the nurse conveyed enough information. I'm going to call today and set something up. It is a really good school, according to some in the city, to be the best elementary school, so I don't think it is a matter of that they won't accomidate just still uneducatated. I knew of one child in my...
  14. All good tips/advice. The tables are round so wiping them is just going to be a must! I originally had to go through the school nurse (who knew very little about celiac) so she could address the needs of my son. I guess I will need to set up another appointment with her. I had given her handouts and suggested website for information for school personell...
  15. I'm sure this subject has come up many times so sorry in advance. I believe that my son may be getting some CC at school. He is in kindergarden and everyday they have a snack. I have safe snacks for him at school so that is not the problem. I think he may be getting cc'd in his classroom. They have group seating (I so disagree with for many reasons)...
  16. Check with the local food bank. I don't know if they would have any gluten free items in your area, but I have donated safe foods and gluten free products this year to our food bank. Also Angel Food Ministries has a food allergen boxes I think.Open Original Shared Link Someone please correct me if I'm wrong on that one.
  17. I have celiac as does my youngest son who is 6. My oldest son is almost 10 and is not gluten free he has had three screenings for it and all negative and is not exibiting any symptoms at this point. My youngest has been screened twice, two years apart. First time after my diagnosis and was negative and showing no symptoms. I had him retested two months...
  18. I would say with her being gluten light/gluten free is what could have given you the negative results. The endo wouldn't be a bad idea if you were wanting to look for other things in addition to celiac. I opted out of the endo for my 6 yr old because of him having a positive blood test and me already being diagnosed. If he had been the first one suspeced...
  19. My youngest son (6yrs) and I have celiac. I have two third cousins on my dad's side who are confirmed celiac. I am suspicious of my father, brother and my dad's brother.
  20. Glad you liked the grits. I've eaten them with sugar too no milk but I'm not a true southerner. LOL I decided I didn't like them and havn't eaten any since.
  21. I was able to sucessfully nurse both of my boys and they both had problems with lactose. I elimated dairy completly from my diet and they did wonderful. They both tolerate dairy now. I do know of a girl I worked with that couldn't breastfeed her oldest son because he was allergic to all forms of milk even breastmilk.
  22. I started having problems a year ago after doing well for a year and went 8 months trying to figure it out. In August I did the drastic thing. If I didn't make it I didn't eat it. I eliminated all processed gluten free products and found I can not tolerate Bob's Red Mill's products either for the same reason as GlutenFreeManna. I knew I couldn't tolerate...
  23. In my immediate family, my youngest son(6) and myself are celiac. Husband won't get tested despite some family history of possible risk factors. He figures my youngest son just got it from me so he couldn't possibly have it. Both my children were screened after I was diagnosed and both were negative and did not exibit any symptoms. Youngest was having...
  24. Been there, tried it and didn't like it. It made excellent bread crumbs though.
  25. If you end up reactivating the rash you could go to the derm to biopsy it to see if it is in fact DH. Not sure on the exact procedure though. Others on here would be more helpful. It really sounds like you were/are doing well gluten free.
