  1. For those who are near an Ingles Market: I found Udi's bread on special for $3.98 a loaf (regularly $4.98) and I was also able to use two $1.00 off cupons I printed from the Udi's website. It was nice that I got two loaves for only $2.98!
  2. I really wasn't debating it but I thought the current statement could be misleading is all. I will certainly try their gluten free products when they come out.
  3. This is actually great, but I so disagree on their statement on their current rice crispies and corn pops... So annoying. I hate it when misinformation is out there (good that they disclose ingredients). These are so not gluten free as of right now. I hope that when they have their new line the necessary precautions are taken.
  4. Did you get screened for celiac/gluten intolerence? You could have both issues going on.
  5. Your post made me smile. I hear what you are saying. I gained weight after I went gluten free also. I didn't feel deprived, just inconvienienced at times.
  6. What tests were done? If I was to guess your number you posted was your TSH. You really need a full thyroid pannel done to include a TSH, FreeT3, Free T4 and thyroid antibody tests. This will give a much larger picture of what is going on. My first visit with my current endocrinologist noted that I had a very good "normal" TSH, but was low on Free T3...
  7. The devils food is great as is I just don't bake it as long as the directions state. The yellow is so so as is. I thought it to be a little on the dry side and cornbread like texture. I now add 2 oz of softened cream cheese to the batter and it turns out great. I bet sour cream or ricotta would work well too. I made two of the yellow cake with the addition...

    ARCHIVED Omg

Yep I saw that commercial too and several of my coworkers saw it also and said something to me. I was shocked to see it on tv but very glad too!
  9. Just got the official dx of this today. I have suspected it for a few years. Now the doc had me do some other tests for other autoimmune problems. This makes autoimmune disorder #3. Man I must have been at the end of the line when it came to genes!
  10. I have been a registered x-ray/ct technologist for 16 years. I have always worked in a hospital setting with occasional moonlighting over the early years at an orthopedic office. I also did mammography for 15 months when I moved back north. I have been back south for 7 1/2 years now and currently work night shift. I work only 3 days one week and 4 the...
  11. I went to my new PCP today since I havn't been there in over a year. I was going over a list of things I wanted to discuss and we got on the subject of my hands and feet. After much explaination to her she said that I definately have Raynauds. I have suspected this for may years even before I knew I had celiac. This year has been especially bad on my...
  12. Why not go ahead and get him the blood work and scope/biopsy if necessary while he is still consuming gluten? I have had my boys screened yearly since my diagnosis. My youngest one initially was negative, and on his test 3 months ago he had a positive iga ttg. I did not do further testing and put him guten free based on his blood test. I did however,...
  13. I was doing some reading and wanted to know a little more about RT3 testing. I never realized what it actually was or meant until today. The more I read the more I'm convinced I need this looked into. When I first started with my current endocrinologist she made comment that I didn't convert the T4 adequately to T3 so she put me on cytomel in addition...
  14. If you truely have a wheat allergy and get hives and feel your reactions are getting worse, I wouldn't challenge with wheat. If you want to do celiac testing you can stay eating gluten but I would get it from other sources such as barley and rye. I wouldn't risk having a worse allergic reaction such as throat swelling or anaphalyxis by eating the wheat...
  15. If she isn't getting better go back to the doctor and have them do a throat culture. My youngest child has had false positive rapid strep tests in the doctor's office, dispite clinically something was wrong. When he was 2 1/2 years old he had all the signs of strep throat, fever, sore red throat, swollen tonsils, fever, swollen glands and stomach ache/vomiting...
  16. I wouldn't be to quick to rule out the candy hearts. Even if they don't have gluten in them they could have cc. I assumed that some coconut macaroons were gluten free once (natural flavors were listed but no contact information so I couldn't call and check) and I paid dearly for it.
  17. Both of these are vaginally inserted medications for the induction of labor and I would think should not be a problem.
  18. I never liked the all pourpose flour mix, but I almost only used a lot of their other products. I discovered in Aug. that I can't tolerate any Bob's products because of the cc from the gluten free oats. I knew early on that I couldn't eat certified oats, but never gave the cc from them a thought until 6 months ago. I recently ate some things made from...
  19. Yep, count me as an oat intolerent person. I react very badly. I first tried them when I was 7 months gluten free and I reacted within 30 minutes of eating them. I also had an A Ha moment in August of last year. I started having problems in Jan with symptoms that I thought was my gallbladder (debiliting D and bloating and reflux). After many tests,...
  20. Did they do an upper scope as well at the same time? A biopsy from the colon during a colonoscopy will not diagnose celiac. They need to do an EGD and biopsy the small intestine. And yes I didn't loose weight either. I was overweight when I was diagnoed.
  21. Yeah, I understand. I did live back in Tidioute from May 2002 to Aug. 2003. I was living on my parents farm for that 15 months. I worked at WGH and my husband and I couldn't make ends meat there so we moved back south. My parents and brother are still there. Definately go outside Warren County to find a doctor. I have little faith in anyone around there...
  22. I don't know of any doctor in that area, but I would recommend either going to Erie, Pittsburgh or Buffalo. I would think those larger cities would have a better selection. I basically posted to say welcome and tell you that I'm from around that area too. I haven't lived there since 1995 but grew up there and vist family several times a year. I lived...
  23. Make sure you have a separate colonder and new cutting boards if yours have been used for pasta and bread. You may need to replace bakeware and pots and pans that have scratches. Get new wooden spoons. Be aware of your spices/herbs, and other baking things from before gluten free.. there is a chance for cc if you double dipped like I did. I had to replace...
  24. I get the "Oh, I'm sorry" response. I just politely tell them that I'm not sorry that I am eating healthier and feeling good! (as they are scarfing down fast food all the time)
  25. Well yes and no. His ttg was positive Nov 2010(16 with 0-15 neg). His original one he had Nov. 2008 was negative I think it was 1 or 2 with > 19 positive so I felt this was a significant change.
