I found these rolls stumbling around the internet last night and I wanted to lick the screen! Anyway, I don't have any white rice flour in the house and couldn't find a brand I could use at the local stores today. So this is what I have on hand: tapioca starch/flour, potato starch, brown rice flour and King Arthur all purpose flour. I do have millett...

ARCHIVED Question About Implication Of Genetic Testing
Roda replied to Flor's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Wow, I'm confused just reading this topic. I never had the genetic testing and am firmly diagnosed by blood and biopsy. I'm not getting my children gene tested either. I'm good with it. -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Sausages?
Roda replied to WinterSong's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Here are a few interesting links for you. Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link) Sausage casing is gluten free. You could check with your local butcher shop and inquire about the ingredients. To me nothing beats fresh made sausage! -
We may try this this weekend. I'm needing to make a trip to Earth Fare. Since we will be making a trip and are in the same area, might as well try it.

I wouldn't buy them for the longest time because I didn't see the gluten free in big letters on the top of the box. One day I picked up a box and found it written on the side panel. Just look over the boxes to see if you find the gluten free words. My kids have been eating the cocoa and fruity pebbles a lot. They don't like the pebbles cereal bars at...

I would try and eat some protein for breakfast. I am miserable all day if I was to eat all carbs first thing in the morning and I'm not pregnant. I start my day out with a good hearty 2 egg fritatta or eggs of some sort.

ARCHIVED Egd Biopsy Not Needed?
Roda replied to revo2814's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
If you have active lesions you could get a biopsy of them. They have to biopsy the skin next to the lesion. If positive it is a diagnosis of celiac. Others on here know the proper skin biopsy procedure so hopefully someone else will chime in. -
We like Yoplait. They put gluten free on their lables if the product is safe. Another favorite of mine is StonyField Farm yogurt

ARCHIVED Laundry Detergent And Household Cleaners?
Roda replied to WinterSong's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I used to use All Free and Clear laundry detergent since I have sensitive skin to perfumes and scents. I now make my own laundry power out of Fels Naptha laundry bar soap, washing soda and borax. I also put about a 1/4 cup of distilled white vinegar in a Downy ball into the wash. It helps get any left over residue from the laundry power out of the washer... -
ARCHIVED Question About Gastritis
Roda replied to Smarts's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I'm sure the 10 year old is hearing this from somewhere. Most of the time kids pick things up at home. Hope whatever you decide I hope it goes well and you get the answers you need. Just know that you don't have anything to "prove" to anyone. The only one you need to be comfortable with is yourself. -
ARCHIVED Why Can't She Have It In Moderation?
Roda replied to JustForJen's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I'm so sorry for you. Maybe there are other issues going on with her besides gluten. Try and stay strong. I know it hurts. You can always come here for support if you want. -
Made this cake last night. It turned out great. I used the BC yellow cake mix and put in 2 oz of cream cheese to the batter(I started doing this in Dec. and it helps increase the moisture) and it turned out great. My husband loved it!

ARCHIVED Is Constipation And Gas Common When Giving Up Gluten?
Roda replied to sandooch's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
My son became constipated the week after he went gluten free. This child was only constipated 2-3 time as an infant due to his reflux. So for him not to go for 4 days was miserable for him. I ended up having to give him a mild laxitive to get things moving. After that I concentrated on making sure he had plenty of fluids and fiber. For him I made him... -
ARCHIVED Chicken Broth----And Another Question....
Roda replied to MEH's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease

ARCHIVED How Many Of You Have Celiac And Kids Have It Too
Roda replied to Marie1976's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I had both of my kids screened (blood tests) a month after my diagnosis and both were negative. Fast forward to June 2010 my youngest started complaing of symptoms over a period of 6 months that lead me to get him reallergy tested and repeat blood work for celiac. His ttg came up positive so I put him gluten free based on it. I have seen improvement: ... -
It's been almost two weeks and I'm still waiting on my results of a barrage of blood work my endocrinologist ordered. Even if everything comes back alright we discussed changing my t4/t3 dosage around with less t4 and more t3. It's not that uncommon with this doctor to wait this long for results. Hopefully this week I'll know something...

ARCHIVED Question About Gastritis
Roda replied to Smarts's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Your welcome! To correlate histologically means that they need to look at the tissue at the cellular level under a microscope, I think. -

ARCHIVED What Symptoms Did You See In Your Little One?
Roda replied to goodnews's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My youngest son started complaining of random daily tummy aches and "puke burps" last June. Sometimes he would just lay around on the couch and other times he would go off and play. I also noticed on a few occasions fat floating in the toilet. He also developed an irrational obsession with his velcro and strings on his shoes. Every day was a battle if they... -
ARCHIVED Any Ideas On An Amazing Cake?
Roda replied to zus888's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Yes, I add 2 oz of softened cream cheese to the BC yellow cake mix. I do not bake it as long either. I will pull it out when it is "almost done" with a few crumbs still sticking on the tooth pic. -
ARCHIVED What Brand Of gluten-free Oats Do People React To?
Roda replied to shayre's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I can't eat any gluten free oats. It causes major symptoms and it actually caused imflammation that showed up on my scope (from cc from them in gluten free products). I AVOID any certified gluten free oats or products that likely have oat cc like the plague! -
ARCHIVED Symptom Question
Roda replied to PMC's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Could the itching be unrelated to celiac? I get itchy from dry skin and from certain products. I itch like mad if I use sented/colored laundry detergent or scented fabric softner sheets. I have to use dye/fragrance free laundry stuff or I will itch until I drive myself insane. I also get contact dermatitis from certain female toiletries as well. -
ARCHIVED Bread Crumbs - What To Use
Roda replied to NancyL's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I make my own or buy a loaf of gluten free bread to use for bread crumbs. I have never had a problem drying them out and processing them in the food processor. We use crushed tortilla chips alot for a coating. Our favorite is a whole bag of crushed tortilla chips mixed with at least a packet of taco seasoning (or more to desired taste) and coat chicken... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Making Me Uproot Myself
Roda replied to LivesIntheSun's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I know this doesn't help the moving situation, but you mentioned you have seasonal affect disorder. Have you had you vitamin D level checked? I ask because my husband, while not diagnosed with SAD, always would get into a funk in the wintertime. Two years ago I put him on vitamin D and I noticed a significant improvement in his moods during these last...
