  1. I couldn't find teff flour locally, but I did find the whole grain (Bobs Red Mill), so I bought a coffee grinder and I put it in it and grid it when I need it. Works like a charm.
  2. As for the prescriptions, yes call the pharmacist, but alot do not know. I always contact the manufacturer. I also have a habit of calling before I get my refils since my mail order pharmacy will change manufactures on the generics at times. So far I have been good on all my meds.
  3. How was her gliadin antbodies? My tTg went from 78 to 6 after 6 months but the others were still elevated(never had a baseline of the AGA IgA/IgG). I had them all repeated after 1 year and the tTg was lower my IgA AGA was considered negative but my IgG AGA was still positive. IMHO I think that you have made good progress and would give it some more time...

My spinich I planted did not do very well so I pulled out what was there and ate it. My lettuce is doing well and I cut two rows of it and got tons. I will be eating lots of salad this week. I still have three more rows (very little ones) to cut. When I plant lettuce and spinich for a fall crop I will try the bags next. I've got flowers coming up in...
  5. Lots of thing could cause a sensation in the throat. Here are a few examples: as the other poster stated reflux, thyroid enlargement/nodules and anterior osteophytes on the cervical vertebrae (they protrude and put pressure on the throat). I am sure there are more causes, this is the few I know of. Another possibility is that the muscle motility has slowed...
  6. Regardless of the gluten, you did not recieve what you ordered. I would have asked for them to send out what I ordered.
  7. Sorry I have no answers for you, but am curious. My dad if being referred to a hematologist because his pcp said his platelets were low last year and are even lower this year. He has also seen a neurologist for tingling/burning in his legs and feet and was told to take vitamin b12. He had the celiac tests done and according to his pcp were "normal", but...
  8. This stuck out at me. Nature Valley makes no claims about being gluten free. Commercially grown oats are contaminated with wheat. Try gluten free granola or oats and see if that makes a difference. But then there is those of us who react to pure oats too which is appx 10-15% of celiacs I think. I eat blue diamond products all the time and do fine with...
  9. I think the genes come from my paternal grandmothers side of the family. My father's first cousin's daughter and my uncle's great grandson has celiac. My uncle I suspect may suffer because he has bad psorasis all his life. Both my parents tested and were negative. However, I still suspect that my dad may have had false negative tests. He had emergency...
  10. Car is not a problem. Only get it when we work on the bushes. The clothes we wore are still waiting for the hubby to wash. BTW he did get a few spots on his arm. I'm suprised it took that long for it to break out. He was really in it. It is not really bothering him to much. He is taking zyrtec for other allergy symptoms so I think it is helping that...
  11. My tachycardia was related to my ferritin being so low. I have since gotten it up some that now it is not so bothersome. I still get it occasionally. Last bout was due to too much thyroid meds since I was absorbing them better. My one med was lowered and symptoms went away.
  12. I find the crust too "soft" when I make bread in the bread machine. I have used the pamela's mix in the machine and it turns out fairly good, makes good bread crumbs. Lately I've gotten the nerve to try and make bread from scratch. This is the recipe I have found works great for me and it has a good crust. I have small loaf pans so this would make three...
  13. I told my husband a couple of days ago that I wanted one thing this year... to go one whole season without getting poison ivy. Joke's on me! Hubby and I were out trimming in the yard together. He knows about my sensitivity to the stuff, so I was staying in the "safe" part of the yard. He even took care of the bushes that were infested with it. I even...
  14. A friend of mine at work crushes up bbq pork rinds and coats the chicken. I would like to try that but most bbq flavored ones I've looked at have wheat. Maybe I'll try it with plain ones.
  15. If modified food starch is made from wheat it has to be declared on the lable. What I would be questioning is the "natural flavors." Other gluten can be hidden, usually barley or barley malt. Also if you eat something with flour in it, it is made from wheat.
  16. We like to make chicken nuggets by dredging them in seasoned cornstarch (salt, pepper, garlic powder) and frying them in a shallow skillet in olive oil until browned. They get really crispy. I also make chicken fingers with crushed tortilla chips and taco seasoning. I usually take a bag of chips and process them in my food processor and then add two packages...
  17. They make a soy based version of play doh called soyer dough. I replaced my youngest son's play doh with it. He is not gluten free, but his hands like to touch all sorts of things. It was not worth the cross contamination risk. I washed all of the toys and now we have fun with it together.
  18. I don't think it is an allergy to the avacados. I have the same thing if I eat sausage or other things with fat. I suspected dairy so I have be dairy free but it did not improve things at all. I've definately got some things to chew on over the weekend. I'll put in a call to the doctor's office on Monday. I really wish they could see me at my worst....
  19. What about getting the rash biopsied for dh? Others on here can tell you the correct way the derm should do the biopsy.
  20. My oldest boy after all that, still didn't get the EMA test since the tTg was negative too. That was a fight I was sure to loose. He did get the antigliadin antibodies and antiretculin antibodies and the tTg. though. I think the antireticulin antibodies are not really used any more.
  21. I had a month from my positive blood work until my biopsy, so I know I was eating lots of gluten things. But the thing that sticks into my head was our halloween party Oct.25, 2008. We had cupcakes and we made a sandwich in the shape of a snake with lots of yummy cheese and lunch meat inside. I had already had the biopsy a couple of days before this, and...
  22. Sorry to say you did not get the full pannel. Your doctor needs to order a total IgA to see if you are deficient. If you are, then the standard IgA tests are invalid. Here are the tests he needs to order: total IgA, IgA tTg, antigliadin IgA/IgG, EMA and if IgA deficient, IgG tTg. Hope this helps! I had to request the doctor specifically write out each...
  23. When I do reading on bile reflux it usually mentions that this is a problem for people that have had gastric bypass, stomach surgery and gallbladder surgery, however it has been documented in seemingly normal intact people. How did they find out that was the problem? Are you still taking it now or has the problem resolved? It is something else to consider...
  24. I think I would pick a goat their not picky at all. However, upon observation, I want to be a nannie not a billie. I witnessed the billie goat peeing in his own mouth!
