I have to say call a spade a spade..you have celiac. It does suck at first, but you will find your way. What I do have to offer you is a very easy pancake recipe. My entire family, husband, two boys, mom and dad all gluten eaters love these. I use baking powder instead of baking soda, do not add the vanilla and we mix in little cinnamon chips into the...

Quinoa--I eat it all the time and love it. It is easy for me to eat too much. It has lots of fiber. Millett--Love it too. No problems that I can tell. Oats--I avoid the gluten free oats because I reacted horribly. I had heartburn, bloating, abdominal pain, constipation and a nice painful rash on my bottom. There are those who eat them without... -
If you're wanting to cut carbs you could try making stuff with nut flours or coconut flour. I enjoy these alot. I just made a biscotti out of almond flour. It was good. I make banana bread with the coconut flour alot too.

If he uses regular flour, he needs to mix it outside of the kitchen. I don't allow any baking with "flour" in mine. If the rest of the gang wants something that I can't make gluten free or if there is a version gluten free they don't like, they either buy it, or use box mixes that the flour does not fly around the air. I thought I heard sensodyne was not...

Could he be having nightmares? My 5 year old has been having nightmares several times a night and he does not always wake up fully from them. Other times he does and he ends up at the bottom of my bed. He does not have any intolerences that we know of at this time. -
I made almond milk today. It tastes soooo much better than the Pacific Natural Foods organic almond non-dairy beverage I bought. I soaked 1 1/2 cups of almonds over 8 hours and took off the skins. Then I put half in the blender with 2 cups water and blended for several minutes. I then added about 1 TBS honey and blended well. I repeated for the remainder...

That was cute. I'll have to let my 9 year old hear that he'll get a chuckle out of it.

ARCHIVED Advice For Breastfeeding When Glutened
Roda replied to woodruff's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I did an extensive elimination diet when I breast fed my youngest. He had reflux so bad that the ped wanted me to try this formula with rice starch in it. I had to pump anyway to store milk up for when I went back to work so I tried it. Well, he screamed the worst he had ever. I'm not sure if it was the formula or the rice. I found out later he was sensitive... -

I was told I had it at my first ob visit with my first child. They prescribed me what I think was flagyl but I had to wait until I was at least 12 wks along before taking it. From what I understood from the doctor at that time it was important to treat it. I was told there was a link between preterm labor and the BV. I did end up with preterm labor at...

ARCHIVED How High Was Your Iga When Diagnosed?
Roda replied to dhiltonlittle's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Do you mean the IgA tTG or total IgA? My tTG was around 78 with >19 positive and I'm not IgA deficient. My last tTg was 6 and that was Feb. of this year. I didn't get the whole panel unfortunately in 2008. I didn't have the AGA IgA/IgG until 6 months later and thery were both positive.(I can't remember the #'s). Had them repeated in Feb. also and... -

Have they went back to make sure the ducts from the liver are open? Some people can have problems after having their gallbladder removed. Have you had an MRI body scan? Sometimes it can show things that the other modalities can't. Here is a link for you to look at. Open Original Shared Link -
ARCHIVED Can Lactose Intolerance Develop After Celiac
Roda replied to Laurelf's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I just eliminated dairy a few days ago. I have not been bloated or as gassy and I've been gluten free 1.5 years. I am confident it is a lactose intolerance and not casin. I have always had a "threshold" sort to speak and if I overdid it I would be miserable. Lately I'm always miserable. The last time I went lactose free was when I was breastfeeding my... -

Make sure you drink lots of fluids for the next few days so you don't get constipated. Have they done a colonoscopy, or a CT scan? It sucks to be miserable and not know why. HUGS to you! -

I never take asprin, but when I get pms cramps or the dreaded headaches that last for days I will take ibuprofen. When I do take it I usually take three at a time a couple of times a day. Last time I had my bad headache I took the ibuprofen and it actually hurt my stomach. I don't think I take an excessive amount maybe once a month when Aunt Flo visits... -

Tests for your gallbladder include a gallbladder ultrasound and if necessary a HIDA scan to test the function of the gallbladder. The other test Wolicki is talking about is an upper gi series or a small bowel follow through test. They can do them separatly or together, depending on what your doctor orders. -

On my original biopsy in 2008 my IELs were reported below what is expected to be seen in celiac. However, I had villous blunting and acute and chronic inflammation. The pathologist went onto say that serologic testing often can preclude clear cut histologic findings. I think the pathologist was pretty smart. I had already had positive blood work and... -

Are you able to have a frank discussion with her? Is she trying to sabotage your marriage? Could your husband talk to her and set her straight? It sounds like you have a doctors diagnosis and even if you don't you don't have to explain things to her. My MIL doesn't get it either, but she does not make comments like that, because she knows my husband would... -
ARCHIVED Dry Milk Powder Substitute
Roda replied to Roda's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I was wondering about the almond breeze. I was going to buy it today, but was not sure if it was gluten free since it did not say on the box. Just looked on Blue Diamond's website and it says it is wheat and gluten free. I got the other because it said gluten free on the box. Next time I'll get the almond breeze because it was cheeper. I used some of... -

It is pretty easy, you don't remember a thing. The worst part is when they spray the cetacain(? sp) in the back of your throat to numb it. It tastes nasty. But after that you are in la la land and the next thing you remember is waking up. I just had my second one yesterday. -

I know how you feel, my mom is great. When I am at their house there are certain things that are there that are dedicated just for me. I usually spoil her and do most of the cooking for the week. However, she does get the contamination aspect and she is really good. We usually are in the kitchen together though so I can watch. -

My mil does not quite get it, but would always ask what to cook when we go over. At their house the don't get crosscontamination. We are planning a weekend trip this month and I was dreading it. I did talk to her and told her not to even try to accomidate me this trip that I would take care of feeding myself. I thought she might get offended, but to my...
