  1. Actually, I think the bright spot in all this is that she was curious and talking to you about it the next day and that she admitted it without any excuse or cover up. She will learn. It's those in denial and who deflect the blame or pretend it didn't happen that you have to avoid at all costs. I am sure your mom does feel bad but, even in your present pain...
  2. The insanity of the medical community. A known poison.. so, what do they want you to do? Take it so they can figure out whether it is causing a problem when, in fact, you have already done a self diagnosis. And they still can't figure it out and they want YOU to go back to destroying yourself so they can "help you???" Go find another doctor. Or, only use...
  3. A lot of familiar sounding things in there. You have the answers you need. Your reaction to your change in diet is better than any medical opinion. Be strong, be well and stick to your gut instinct whenever you run into doubters. Glad to hear that things are turning out well.. for you and your son. Living in the land of knowing is such good place to be.
  4. Agreed with the above. When I was so messed up it would take me a month to recover from any attempt at working out. I had seriously trained for much of my life but was getting weaker and weaker. Now, after several years of healing, I recover faster than when I was much younger and have gained considerable strength. Strict gluten free has enabled much of this...
  5. First question: How long have you been gluten free? Second question: What complications do you have as a result of celiac damage? These two would give a baseline of where to start. If you had considerable complications, now would not be the time to cut back on calories. What you need are nutrient dense unprocessed foods and likely supplementation to foster...
  6. I lost in the neighborhood of 35 pounds in the first two months gluten free. It was scaring my wife but I felt so much better. I was weak and skinny fat. I looked like a typical "healthy" American middle aged male before being diagnosed but I knew how weak I had become. It didn't help that I had rheumatoid arthritis as an excuse for my immobility, etc. I...
  7. Mat Lalonde is at Harvard. He is a monster intellect in the paleo world. He is good friends with Robb Wolf who is not only big on paleo but also has celiac. If you run across him he would understand where you are coming from. I would think that a biology department would be full of people able to understand the clinical implications of your situation.. Be...
  8. I did a quick review but not all the way back on this. Have you tried a coconut kefir to help with gut flora? I know you want to/ have to stay pretty much vegan and don't tolerate many things but I wonder if, as I seemed to, you are not tolerating much because the gut flora is so out of whack. Soy hurt me worse than gluten. I think I probably suggested this...
  9. Progress. It's a good thing and sounds like you are figuring things out that will work not only with how you feel but how you feel about certain things as well. Keep up the good fight. Best to you.
  10. You are not alone... Never been there either.
  11. Multiple abscesses at the same time. My dentist had only seen that one other time and was baffled. This was before my celiac DX. I lost one tooth to another abscess too far gone and my oral surgeon was preparing to remove five more teeth. I was in so much pain I was ready to have all my teeth pulled. I went gluten free and everything stabilized. I still have...
  12. It's even more likely to trigger my secondary RA flares.. even more so than nightshades. I avoid it at all costs now. I think there are SIBO implications as well. I would trust your gut on this one. I think you have it figured out.
  13. I think it is an avenue that needs significant follow up in light of what I have been piecing together. treating myself with this in mind has made significant positive impact on my recovery. I was thinking about this a bit more. When it was looking like I was going to be declared refractory with insufficient gut healing in spite of a rigorous adherence to...
  14. I am quite aware of gear (Steroids). I have been involved in the fitness industry for most of my adult life. If you read in his initial information he speaks of having been misdiagnosed and given a strong antibiotic. I am just trying to consider all possibilities in light of what may be relevant to the whole picture. Think what you may but I do know what...
  15. Just another quick thought. Robb Wolf, over at Nor Cal fitness and a big paleo advocate is quite informative on much of this as is Mat Lalonde.
  16. I just wonder what the antibiotics have done as to gut flora and permeability issues concurrent with your initial increase in symptoms. The systemic inflammation would be brought down the the gear.. I think.. so that may be why you tolerated it. Don;t know for sure. I would look at the antibiotics thing as I am now off the edge when it comes to gut flora...
  17. Turned back the clock for me, especially after going basically paleo and raw dairy and eggs. I can personally understand how this might help him. It probably doesn't hurt that he has top level folks working with his whole regimen from training to food. I know I get tired of talking to people about my health even though I have come sch a long way in a relatively...
  18. Just won Wimbledon! Go Novak! Wohoo!
  19. Eewwwwwwww!
  20. Consumer affairs representative called me and was very apologetic and offered any help with any difficulties I might encounter. They were in touch with the processor and have no reasonable explanation for how it happened. I just expressed that I was concerned that someone more sensitive than me might have a much more serious reaction. She had never heard...
  21. Just got off the phone with the distributor. Topco. Says it's a product of Canada. I am waiting to hear back from their consumer representative. Purchased at Click's here in North Canton and is Food Club Brand. I gave them the lot number and other info. I am curious as to what they will do with the info. There were four pieces of corn in the bag. I checked...
  22. Been feeling pretty good lately and haven't been hanging around here much. I have managed to get things in the food department down to a pretty regular and dependable routine and have added more raw foods. Some may think this is dangerous but I have found that it is solving a number of issues for me. I have added raw dairy and raw eggs to the mix and have...
  23. I have turned to a combination of SCD and paleo and am grain free. With the state of GMO corn I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole. Grain free has allowed me to be very high functioning physically when four years ago I could barely move due to the severity of my accompanying rheumatoid arthritis. I tried rice but found difficulty with blood sugar regulation...
  24. When I switched to raw milk.
  25. I heartily second this suggestion. It wasn't until I did this that I went from "not really feeling worse by the day" to "actually feeling better by the day."
