  1. Interesting. I was very low on B12, and had to do injections to get a loading dose and now take it a few times a week. Makes sense.
  2. I have had this, and I have no clue what it is either. It is like a sunburn feeling without a sunburn. I first noticed it when I was pregnant, like 7 years ago..and I would get it once in a while..and as you said, it would last from 24-48 hours and go away, but what just so annoying when I had it...and uncomfortable. I started to figure out it would...
  3. I did ask him to get copies of the bloodwork to keep for his reference. hopefully he does this.
  4. Since I was diagnosed, I have been trying to urge my family members to get tested. One sister has it, the other tested negative by blood. Mom neg by blood. And then my dad (who I suspected was the culprit) finally got tested. He has had a long history of reflux and digestive issues, and had his gallbladder removed in the late 90s. Also has a history of...
  5. I just had sushi last night, and the first place we went to, we ordered, got our drinks and then he waiter tells us there is wheat in the seasoning they put on the rice for the sushi. Ugh...so we left and went to another sushi place. I was shocked and never would have expected it in the rice. I posted it on Twitter and others responded that they had...
  6. Maybe I am the only one who feels the opposite, or maybe I just snacked more before? I definitely can tell that if I add protein, like peanut butter, I can last longer, and if I have a bowl of cereal, I won't last very long...but I feel like my window of not having to eat is much shorter now than when I did eat gluten. I wonder why this is? I am not...
  7. I have heard that UK Starbucks are going to be carrying Genius bread for their gluten-free sandwiches.
  8. I am the opposite, I notice I can't go nearly as long as I did pre-gluten-free, and this is after a year and a half....but I think it has to do with having too much refined flours and no more whole wheat, and I know for myself, I have to try hard to balance out with protein and fats in addition to the carbs and then I am good for a few hours. If I have a...
  9. Thank you, obviously I know I will always have celiac, but I would like to know I am doing the right thing. And I will continue being gluten-free forever, trust me, I know how awful it is to accidentally get it and I want to avoid that at all costs. I actually emailed these to my GI dr and she said as long as the first one represents TTG it is good, so...
  10. I went in for my one year celiac panel...or more like 1 1/2 years. I was supposed to go a month ago, but I was glutened, so I waited 30 days, because I figured it would be a waste to take the test after knowing I have gluten in my body. So, I called today and asked the nurse to read me my results..obviously she didn't know what any of it meant, and I...
  11. wow, i actually had to look who wrote this, because i thought it might have been me. i could have totally said these words! just like you i read labels carefully, and now i will eat anything that says gluten-free...which is so unlike what I used to be like. and like many of you said....before i was diagnosed, i was trying to loose weight and it melted...
  12. First, I find it interesting that before I was diagnosed I have low cholesterol, and then I get better and it is high. Though I did have it high before as well, and it runs in my family. My doctor suggested taking fish oil. If you read my other thread you will see I am debating going back to meat, but taking fish oil still grosses me out...especially...
  13. Thanks for everyone's input, it is really helpful to read everyone's personal situation. T.H. Unfortunately, while i LOVE quinoa, my stomach can't handle it anymore, so I can't eat it, and because of that I have kind of stayed away from amaranth, because the stomach ache is so horrible with quinoa, I am terrified the same thing will happen. I should...
  14. Stop at a Whole Foods and pick up some gluten-free snacks.
  15. I felt the same for a long time, that is why I posted this. I know I would never ground beef...no way! Unless it was farm-raised and the butcher ground it on the spot. The only meat I have eaten this year has been farm-raised, local, organic meat and i think that is the only way I could do it. I don't think I could stomach the idea of eating mass...
  16. I posted about this probably a year ago because I was seriously debating it. I mean without gluten and meat, it doesn't leave much especially if I am at a BBQ or an outing where I can't really trust many homemade foods. But, I decided I couldn't really do it, except for a couple of episodes of falling off the veggie wagon, otherwise, I am still pretty much...
  17. I am just curious as to how many of you have immediate family members with celiac? And on the flip-side, how many of you have family members who refuse to get tested for it? I have one sister who was diagnosed with a wheat allergy, before I was diagnosed with celiac, and even though she refuses to believe she also has celiac (and has lived on omeprazole...
  18. I am actually about to make some pizza with Udi's crust. That and the Kinnikinnick crust are my favorites. My family loves them, and I actually enjoy pizza now when I never did before. I felt the same way at first, but soon realized there is no choice. And once you get the hang of it, you won't feel like you are missing out at all. *We* are the ones...
  19. I was actually not singling out Toro, but some other brands there that are currently just over there, but had a friend who wanted to send me some, but was worried about trying it. The last thing I want to do it make myself sick, yet these are companies who only make gluten-free food. So am I wondering..is the wheat starch safe in them, if all celiacs in...
  20. I was wondering what your thoughts were on wheat starch? I know I have read that in the US it is not as 'cleaned" and pure and not safe to consider gluten-free. But in Europe that have more "pure wheat starch, and I know of some Scandinavian companies that put it in the gluten-free breads, cakes, cookies. And apparently that is considered gluten-free there...
  21. Wow, that sounds like a decadent dessert. I will have to try that one day!
  22. We have traveled and stayed at my family's beach house - who all eat gluten, but are not there when we go. however it will just be my husband, daughter and I, and we all eat gluten-free at home, so they don't mind eating gluten-free there..so we get there, and I clean the counters, handles, basically the entire kitchen. I bring my own pot, cutting board...
  23. I also use Zyrtec. I called to confirm they were gluten-free last month. i take the original 10mg, but they also said the new gel tabs were also gluten-free. I take mine before bed, to avoid getting drowsy. And I am not sure about other, but for me, I need to take it for a week before I get used to it. Those first few days, I am very spacey, but once...
  24. I am pretty sensitive, and I have never had a problem with gatorade.
  25. I buy grits from Bob's Red Mill gluten-free line, however, I have eaten Quaker grits without problem. I happen to have a new package of it in my kitchen (I love grits), but have not used it yet since I happen to have gluten-free grits. But I have eaten grits in restaurants a few times, and I am sure they were not serving me Bob's Red Mill gluten-free grits...
