How long do your reactions last? I think I am having one now on the tail end of 2weeks of it. It is better now. I think I had gluten and then ate a bunch of dairy. It started at the top of my stomach with C and now it feels like its down in my intestines and I have D. I think I am gluten and casien intolerant but its hard to tell cause I can eat dairy for...

Ya same happened to me! Mag is a good laxative! B12 actually took care of the pins and needles, though. I drink tons of rice milk and take a cal/D. I also take multivitamin. Its hard to get calcium when you dont eat dairy! Its even harder to get mag. Leafy veggies, maybe. You can also try epsom salt baths, that helped my muscle pain ALOT. Ive heard you can...

ARCHIVED Scary Symptoms Returning
Mrs. Smith replied to CGally81's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
This happened to me after going gluten free. I also took magnesium, CALCIUM, and methyl B12. It took a couple of months to resolve. I took epsom salt baths and massage therapy also helped. I think it helps the muscles detox and activates the lymph system which also aids in detoxing the body of all the toxins associated with years of gluten injestion. You... -

ARCHIVED Does Glutening Or Dairy Cause Anyones Gastritis To Flare?
Mrs. Smith posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I think I was glutened about 2 weeks ago. The symptoms started about 3 days later. I have the symptoms of a gastritis. Heartburn, pain, gas, reflux. I started eating Dairy also avout a month prior. I probably over did it considering I was so excited about thinking I could handle dairy once again. Do u think the dairy is causing this horrible reaction? Any... -
Hey guys! I am thinking about a career in Nutrition focusing alot on newly diagnosed celiacs and others who would like to improve their nutrition habits. My local university offers a BA in kineseiology with a specialty category of excersize science/wellness management option. Would this be the route to go? I basically want to counsel people, with celiac and...

ARCHIVED Gluten Free Detox Hell
Mrs. Smith replied to Zephyrite's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I have experienced every one of these symptoms POST gluten-free diet! It did turn around though, you just have to give it time. Your body is finally able to do it's job and get the gluten out of your system! I did get a rash on the gluten free diet. Its on my hands and feet. Its slowly going away with a few small flare ups here and there. Alos for some reason... -

Thanks for the advice. I think I may have been glutened!! Now the pain has turned to painful Gas and D. Im having my classic twitching and muscle pain/fatigue, insomnia, too. I think it was generic cola or some chicken I ate at a wedding. Any advice for dealing?? Just taking pepto and slippery elm. Thanks -
ARCHIVED Worsening Symptoms Since gluten-free
Mrs. Smith replied to shevyo's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Wow! You just recited my celiac story! I am 8mos. gluten-free and feeling much better! I went through all these symptoms. About month 6, it started to turn around. Vitamins were a key supporter, I have a friend who is a manager of a health food store supplement dept. She says the twitching can be a calcium deficiency. I started taking extra calcium and the... -
ARCHIVED Gastritis?
Mrs. Smith posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I have been gluten free 8 mos., and feeling really great. I thought I was digesting Dairy fine again, but now I have had the worst heartburn for the last week. I also was drinking Coke everyday for about 2 mos. I quit...I know. Im not sure if I gave myself gastritis or what. I have belching, burning and pain all the way up my throat. Should I try a course... -
ARCHIVED Glutamine
Mrs. Smith replied to Gfresh404's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I take a small amount of powder (1tsp) in a smoothie, in the morning when my digestive system is off. It is an amino acid so it can give your body energy. I know ppl who take it prior to working out. I have not had any problem sleeping, I only take it in the morning. I also put slippery elm in the smoothie wich seems to help alot. It has had a healing effect... -
ARCHIVED The Ups And Downs Of Recovery
Mrs. Smith replied to no-more-muffins's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
DUDE! Its the worst. Totally get all my symptoms PMS and 2 days into my period. It really is getting a lot better though! If you are vitamin deficient, your body requires more during that time but once you start to absorb correctly, it improves. Take B6 and Calcium a week before your P starts. -
ARCHIVED The Ups And Downs Of Recovery
Mrs. Smith replied to no-more-muffins's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I think this is very normal as the intestine heal. I am 6mos. gluten-free and I can finally eat dairy and beans. Some veggies like brussels still bug me, and too much fiber but all in all I feel a million times better. The first 4 mos. were the worst ups and downs. Stick with it and take your vitamins. On the bad days I came on here and it always eased my... -
ARCHIVED My Recent History - Help
Mrs. Smith replied to boysmom's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
If you do have a gluten intolerance, 2 weeks is not adequate time to heal! I had heart burn for a long time after going gluten-free. I still cant eat a lot of mexican or spicy foods with out having an episode. It literally feels like someone is grabbing my esophogus and squeezing it. Glutamine and slippery elm smoothies help during these times. It really... -
ARCHIVED My Recent History - Help
Mrs. Smith replied to boysmom's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Well, first of all I have these too and they took 6mos to go completely away. I still have small spasms when I eat spicy foods. I personally found that prilosec gave me D really bad! I take Tagamet if I need it and it works a lot better. I took digestive enzymes every meal and tons of probiotics (enteric coated). Most of all I never injest a single crumb... -

ARCHIVED Periods Off Diet Do They Really Have An Impact?
Mrs. Smith replied to UnhappyCoeliac's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Believe me, if I had found this out a lot sooner, like you I would have done it in a second and saved myself and my family a ton of heart ache and medical bills! I however did not know until I was very ill, couldnt have babies, and very deficient. I would not recomend going back on gluten AT ALL....trust me its not worth it. You should feel lucky that you... -
I take 3000mcg of Methyl b12 lozenge in the morning. My peripheral neuropathy completely went away as did most of my muscle pain. I recommend it if you are still having these symptoms as a Gluten-Free diet alone did not resolve it for me. It also gives you a TON of energy and a general feeling of well being!

ARCHIVED Is There A Withdrawal Period?
Mrs. Smith replied to TotalKnowledge's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Yeah that is how it happened to me. I would alternate in my symptoms. One week muscle pain, one week D, one week exzema outbreak. It is all resolving its self now, though. Its a long road! I was so impatient at first and now I just let my body do what its going to do. I think the digestive tract of someone like us is going to take a long time to heal. Im... -

ARCHIVED Restaurant Dining
Mrs. Smith replied to Mother of Jibril's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
This actually just happened to me at a Chilis! Even after the manager came out and assurred me that anytime they have a customer with an allergy they take it very seriously, the waitress brought me a salad with croutons! She assured me they made a new one. No reaction, but still. She was really not trying. I wasnt rude, either just clear. She was ok after... -
Totally! You have to read all cosmetics ingredients or call and ask the manufacturer!

Ive been gluten-free for 6 mos now, and while most of my symptoms have resolved, there is still some digestion issues. I still struggle with spicy foods, fat and sugar. My D has decreased signifigantly, but now a lot of mornings my stool is small and thin, kind of like cat poop. My dr says I have no other signs of any masses or anything like that. I do take...
