  1. Hi! My iron levels have not improved at all since I was disgnosed last March and then I noticed that my new skin cream had a "NEW FORMULA" sign on it. Eminence explains what is in their products in two ways: a mini blurb that says only what the main ingredients are and then a bigger sub blurp that may or may not tell you if there is wheat in it. I contacted...
  2. Hi! I had some of your symptoms as well, and my blood work was negative. My doctor followed his gut feeling (pun intended) and did an endoscopie. Please print this listing off and bring it to your doctor. Many of us aren't being diagnosed by blood test alone. Best of luck, Paula
  3. I didn't have symptoms for years, and I found out last March that I'm a silent celiac. The only problems I had were not being able to get pregnant and staying pregnant (has a preemie girl at 29 weeks who is doing great). Plus, I started having problems with my muscles, anemia, lactose intolerance and sleep at about the age of 30. Please put him on gluten...
  4. I haven't had a problem with Bacon at all. If you are in Southern Alberta, have you gone to gluten-free Patisserie? They make the best gluten free products. They are located in Cochrane (west of Calgary). They have a great restaurant in town called Oliver R Twist. They label celiac friendly dishes on their menu. If you are craving Chinese food, check out...
  5. I called Mc Donalds Canada about six months ago and they told me they are gluten free and are cooked in a dedicated fryer. New York Fries is safe as well.
  6. Hi! I checked the Manitoba Celiac site and didn't see anything in Winkler, but I wanted to let you know that they have a gluten-free store in Winnipeg called Lorenzo's. When I was there they had ready made meals and really cool products I have never seen before. They are located on St. Mary's Road in St. Vital. I'm sorry to hear about your lose. Safe travels...
  7. Hi Katie, I recently contacted the makers of VH and their soy sauce is gluten free. Another is BRAGG. It is much more expensive, but it is so delicious. Paula
  8. Thanks Lisa! I'm printing the article off and giving a copy to my chiropractor (he wants to learn more about Celiac). Happy New Year! Happy New Decade! Paula
  9. Hi Tom 62, Keep eating gluten until after all the testing. My blood work was negative as well, but I was still aneamic and my stomach was not always giving me problems. I would be fine for a while and then not. My doctor sent me for an endoscopie. It wasn't until the endoscopie that I got the Celiac diagnosis. I'm more of a silent celiac compared to a...
  10. If you can't find a resort how about a cruise? Royal Carribean do gluten free, and every day I got fab gluten-free bread and desserts! Just let them know when you book the cruise. Plus the entertainment is great!
  11. Hey Michele, I was diagnosed back in March and changed my makeup because of skin irritation. I went to a MAC store and they gave me great customer service, and spent the time looking up what everything contained. Now I have lipstick, foundation, eye liner and mascara. I love the products. Hope this is helpful.

A friend of mine has a sister with Celiac and she goes to Mongo's Grill. She tells them she has problems with gluten and the have a list of all their gluten free sauces.
  13. I had similar problems. Constant back and hip pain. Super sry skin. Had problems getting pregnant and staying pregnant. Over weight - diets never worked. Tired and anxious. I had a rash on my knee for two years! Was diagnosed March 6th and I am now just starting to feel better on some days. Hang in there.
  14. I went their last month and the pizza and service was terrible and it cost 25$ for the small pizza alone. I wouldn't go back there.
  15. Monica that is terrible. I would not attend. This condition is not like being a vegetarian (a lifestyle choice). I would send my fiance with a bottle of wine with regrets.

They also have a gluten-free store there as well! It's called Lorenzo's. I went to Mona Lisa twice for pizza this past summer and it was GREAT!
  17. Hello fellow Canadian celiacs. My family just received the latest Canadian Living Magazine (December 2009 issue) and they have gluten-free recipies including egg and nut free!
  18. I had negative blood work as well, but I had a doctor who followed his gut instinct (pun intended) and he did an endoscopie for me. Voila! Celiac. I'm going through the same thing with my kid. She is coming back negative, but she could be a silent celiac like me. Hang in there!
  19. Thanks for the tip on the restaurant cards! :)
  20. My question is, how does baking fit into the curriculum? Is she covering a math concept? If so, how long will this last? I would approach your principal with these questions. I would also explain that Celiac is serious, and by having any cross containmination could harm your child's immune system.
  21. Garlic Jim's makes a great gluten-free pizza!
  22. Yup

    ARCHIVED Macdonalds Fries?

I called the Canadian head office, and they said that the Canadian locations are gluten free, but they had no idea about the U.S.
  23. I got diagnosed back in March and I have good days and bad. More bad at this point. I'm still exhausted and my stressful job isn't helping. Hang in there!
  24. The Kraft new Ceaser Soald dressing now has wheat as well. Sad.
