We did try to toast some also, which was very good. My daughter is so excitied to have a good bread! I am excitied to have one that I don't have to make from scratch if I don... -

ARCHIVED Walmart Labeled Item "Gluten Free" But States May Contain Wheat!
Darissa replied to Darissa's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I contacted the store manager and also the corporate office. The reply that I recieved came from the corporate office. I hope people understand that I am not upset that they label things as possible CC...ie: may contain traces of wheat. I am thankful for that information. The problem arises from them labeling products as gluten free and also may contain wheat... -

ARCHIVED Pizza Parties At School
Darissa replied to NewGFMom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Glutino Frozen Cheese Pizza's are really good. (especially if you don't have time to make one by scratch). Sometimes we will add ham/pineapple to the cheese pizza before we cook it. Will he eat cold pizza? My kids love cold pizza. Maybe you could cook it in the morning before school and send it with him and he could eat it cold. Maybe the teacher could... -

ARCHIVED Walmart Labeled Item "Gluten Free" But States May Contain Wheat!
Darissa replied to Darissa's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
The problem is the misleading labeling of their products, not the fact that they list possible CC. No one disputes that it is a benefit that Wal-Mart labels things if it is "made in facility that contains wheat" or "may contain traces of wheat". The real issue is when they also put a "naturally gluten free food" or "gluten free" label on the front of the... -

We recognize the importance of labeling gluten-free products appropriately and apologize for the confusion caused when a secondary allergen warning is placed on a product labeled "gluten-free." It has come... -

ARCHIVED French Onion Soup
Darissa replied to Jennifer2's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Progresso now has a gluten free french onion soup in the can. Make sure you check the can and it will say "gluten free" on the back of the can. My Fry's grocery store still has the old french onion soups that are not labeled gluten free, but my Walmart has the new Progresso soup that is labeled gluten free. They also have about 5 other new soups that are... -

ARCHIVED Wal-mart Great Value Brand
Darissa replied to thack's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I found more products labeled as "Naturally Gluten Free Food" or "Gluten Free" on the front of the label, but states "May contain traces of wheat" in the ingredient section under Allergy Warning. Why WHy WHY do they label prodcuts Gluten Free, but are not! My Great Value Tomatoe Juice, Diced Tomatoes, Tomatoe Sauce, Spaghetti Sauce all say gluten free, but... -

ARCHIVED Wal-mart Great Value Brand
Darissa replied to thack's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I had the same problem with WalMart today. I bought the Great Value brand of Louisiana Hot Sauce today and it said right on the front "Naturally Gluten-Free Food" but in the allergy statement under the ingredients it stated may contain traces of Wheat. I was really upset. I'm not sure what they mean by naturally gluten free, but I depend on labels, and they... -

ARCHIVED Lipstick Ingredients
Darissa replied to CecilyF's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I called Neutrogena with the lipstick in my hand from the store. They checked the particular color/kind that I had and it happened to be gluten free. They do not carry a list of gluten free cosmetics, but said that I could call them with a certian item and they would look it up for me. Good luck! -

ARCHIVED Popcorn At The Movies
Darissa replied to Diva1's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I went to our local theater and asked to talk to the Manager over the food. They were very nice and allowed me to see the box of the popcorn/oil mixture that they use. I got the information off of the box and called the company the next day. I did find out that the popcorn my local theater uses is actually gluten free. We were very thankful! -

ARCHIVED Walmart Labeled Item "Gluten Free" But States May Contain Wheat!
Darissa replied to Darissa's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
After my shopping trip today, I came home and checked many of my items from the Great Value brand. Many things are listed as "Naturally Gluten - Free Food" and none of them are single ingredient items..everything from the cottage cheese, parmesan cheese, worcestershire sauce, spray whipped cream and many more items. SO, I am not sure what they are meaning... -
I just returned from Wal-mart. I purhcased the Great Value brand Louisiana Hot Sauce. It states right on the front of the label "Naturally Gluten - Free Food", as do many of of their products. But, in the ingredient statement under Allergy Warning it states : May contain races of anchovies, peanuts, WHEAT and soy. I am so mad. We purchase many Great...

We bring our own small piece of gluten-free bread for the Sacrament. We wrap it in saran wrap, and they place it on the tray. We sit in the same spot every week on the front row, so they know when they are passing the trays, to bring the one with the saran wraped piece of gluten-free bread to our row. We talked to our Bishop to get this approved, and he...

ARCHIVED Nashville, Tn -Going For A Wedding..Help Please!
Darissa replied to Darissa's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
Thank you both for your great ideas about where to eat/shop while in Nashville. We are looking forward to our trip. It's only been just a year since we found out about my daughters celiac disease, and so traveling still worries me a little bit! So, thanks for the information! -
We do NOT eat at Chipotles due to cross contaimination. They use their serving spoons to dish the meat/rice/beans onto the flour tortillas and when they do, they touch the flour tortillas with the spoon and place the spoon back into the container of food. So, even if they change their gloves and get new utensiles to dish up the food, the food is already...

ARCHIVED Kids Test Results
Darissa replied to Wolicki's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My daughter was 9 when she was dx also. It does sound like a positive Dx for celiac disease according to her blood test. We did the biopsy right after we got the results of the blood test back before she went on a gluten-free diet. That way later on in life, there will be no question rather she has celiac disease or not. Also, it was nice to know about...
