  1. Cecily, UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES LISTEN TO THIS PERSON. Have you gotten the proper bloodwork done? Have you had an endoscopy? These can only be done by an MD otherwise4 you can risk your health by doing what this "naturopath" wants. Before I had my diagnosis I went to one and she was a "quack"claiming she could cure anything. I only went to her twice. Do your...
  2. yup, don't panic. But remember you need to READ the label on everything you eat. You can't take anything for it. The4 wheat will pass on it's own. The ride will not be fun but you will be ok.
  3. Trina, there can be hidden sources of gluten in amy's products. I know from reasearch and from personal experience with other products. If you can get a copy you need to read a book called dangerous grains. It explains about hidden sources of gluten

  6. well, I know what you mean about the bread. I learned to make gluten free crackers and I put either hummus or margerine on them.Corn tortillas also work. The best thing I have done tho is switch to the mediterranean diet. For the most part it is mainly gluten free. There are a few subsituitions required but since I have gone to the diet I have felt better...
  7. Dear Hillary, I had the bloodwork done twice for celiac disease where I live in British Columbia. Both of those tests came back negative like yours. I also had 2 biopsies done, the first led to the 2nd being done The Doctors here were unable to diagmose My celiac disease and I had to see a GI in Calgary Alberta. The GI was able to diagnose the celiac...
  8. Hi, I have learned the hard way that just because something is not listed doesn't mean that it is "gluten free" The tyson cornish game hen, it comes off the production line and is packaged for shipment. It is injected with preservatives so it doesn't dry out during shipment. Mixed nuts can come off the same line as products that use gluten. Same with hershey...
  9. You're not crazy. If the chicken is breaded it is glutened and WILL make you sick. If you are Celiac you CANNOT eat gluten in any form. Breadcrumbs are still bread and it will make you sick.Get your parents some liturature about celiac disease to read. The gluten free bible is a good one. You need to educate them
  10. Holy Crap, The first thing you have to do is start bringing your own lunches to work. You glutened yourself from your lunch. Unless you can absolutely guarantee that your food has suffered no cross contamination I'd bring my own lunch. To answer your question , NO there isn't. You just have to stick to the gluten-free diet
  11. Yup, don't give up. But forget the prepackaged stuff like the amy's sheppards pie. The only safe prepackaged products I have found out there are GLUTINO. they are definately gluten free. Keep a diary tho, I have found that is a huge help. Also I live by a very simple motto"WHEN IN DOUBT, LEAVE IT OUT". There's a couple of receipe site's out there as well...
  12. yes and no, most of the store bought stuff is crap. i am constantly nibbling on various things, dry peperoni, yogurt, gluten-free crackers, the secret i've found is lots of small meals. If u werea big eater before u need to change ur way of thinking. Plus i found that big meals leave nme bloated. Try and make most of ur meals yourself. best of luck Mike...

  15. hi, i went down before i rebounded as well. i was diagnosed in april of this year and went through the worst summer of my life. at my low point i was only 130 lbs(i'm 6'5"). I know now that I was consuming hidden gluten. You need to make sure that you're not eating hidden sources of gluten. If you need some reference books that helped, the gluten free bible...
  16. Hey there, don't give up it is quite q transition. There are tons of receipes and websites out there. One suggestion I have for you about lasagna tho. Don't precook the noodles, it works WAY better if you put them in dry and add a little water with your sauce. I have a severe case of celiac disease and I live by one Motto "WHEN IN DOUBT LEAVE IT OUT".....
  17. Hi, I would be. I have a severe case of celiac disease and I have to be strict. For instance I can get sick from licking a postage stamp or an envelope. Having celiac disease has made me a way better cook as well, From what you say in your post you have a fairly mild form of celiac disease. Since I have contracted celiac disease I have done alot of research...
  18. you are not alone. It took a year before I got a proper diagnosis. I have been Gluten free since April of this year. I have a very serious case of celiac disease and even though I have been gluten-free I still have symptoms. Stick w2ith it things w2ill get better
  19. because of the severity of my celiac disease I get bloodork done once a month......full bloodwork(cbc, hgg, ferritin), then for proteins and kidney and liver function
  20. Hi everybody, I have hit a bit of a roadblock in my recovery and am looking for suggestions/answers. I was able to gain weight on a constant basis up to about weeks ago and now things have come to a halt. I spoke to a friend who is a researcher into celiac disease and he thinks I might be suffering from Leaky gut issues. The biggest thing is my appetite is...

Hi everyone, I have read and posted lots but I wanted to get people's feedback about liquid iron as opposed to ferrous gluconate pills.I have really bad annemia from celiac disease and my ferritin levels had been chronically low. The biggest symptom I would get from the annemia is being constantly chilled to the bone. Another problem I also have is trying...
  23. hey gluten guy, everyone i know has said depending on the severity of your celiac disease you caN be lactose intolerant. I used soya milk with my cereal and i cook with cow milk, cheese isn't too bad for me so I use quite a bit of it. One other thing I found that is quite helpful is keeping a journal of everything, what you eat, how ur sleeping.....etc Best...
  24. I live by a simple motto, if I can't identify the source or i don't trust the source I don't eat it. Remember restuarants are in business to make sales, this has been my experience. So "WHEN IN DOUBT LEAVE IT OUT" Good Luck
