  1. I've been relying heavy on my inhalers lately, thats for sure. Last nite on the way home (dont ask, stupid complications the college is having lol), you could actually SEE the grain dust floating in the air...and then dad just HAD to have the windows open all day!! What a time to be given a 107-page accounting assignment due in a week, when the brainfog...
  2. Yeah, I know like I said before, probably nobody else on this board lives in the country but I gotta add....harvest is at its prime right now....went to our farm tonite for a few hours (we dont actually FARM tho) and I checked my breathing when we were leaving....usually I'm around 450, tonite I was 330 The air is filled with grains I tell ya! And...
  3. Yeah, its only to 1/2 hour from here, but good enough I guess. The classes at the college this year will all be night classes... Monday: 3 - 10 pm Tuesday: 3 - 9:30 pm Wednesday: 3 - 9:30 pm Thursday: 3 - 9:30 pm Friday: 3 - 8:30 pm ....so too long of days to be living at home. I save myself an extra hour of time this way. Everyone keeps...
  4. Blah, I finally called today (yes, I stalled, but I've been busy moving out and other stuff)...Well, the receptionist said they take about 10 days to get back (so by next week for sure), but Sept. 14th at 4:40 is the soonest I can get to see the family doc I need to *sighs* These waiting periods are killing me already! (literally)... ~lisa~
  5. OK, not sure how many of you are even in this situation, but I'm hoping someone else on this board lives on the prairies... As most of you know, I live in a small town...2400 people, if that. We are the biggest town in a 30 mile radius, and surrounded my farms. This town is 2 miles x 2 miles (no joke)... Well, everyone is JUST starting to harvest around...
  6. How do you guys manage to go camping and for weiner roasts and whatever else involving outdoors, eat 100% gluten-free, even bring your own food, and not manage to get contaminated somehow? I never have luck with that lol I bring my own food, dont eat anything I cant, yet everytime there seems to be something contaminating me... and giving up the...
  7. OK fellow Saskatchewanians I found my list, this is from 2005 so I am probably missing some, but heres what I got for places to eat in Regina... Vietnamese Gardens ... 419 Broad St. N. ... 949-7833 Smitty's Restaurants ... All locations (I've eaten a lot of their breakfast menus that are definitely gluten-free) Golf's Steakhouse ... 1945...
  8. I've gone to Poverino's! If you go on Monday or Tuesday its even cheaper. You only have to pay $1 extra for the rice noodles (i found out they are Tinkyada penne). But you get a HUGE plate full! Its very filling. Are you a member of the CCA? I got a list from my Regina chapter last year of all the restaurants in Regina that have something gluten-free. If...
  9. Hey, everyone. I figured it would be easier to just tell you all about both tests at once, so here it is... The colonoscopy on Monday wasnt all that bad for me. I wasnt actually scared the test itself, just the results. The stuff I had to drink on Sunday wasnt that bad, I didnt even throw up. Only had to drink it twice, too. I mostly felt sick from not...
  10. well, it is technically Sunday, which means its gonna be one hell of a long/crappy(no pun intended) day!! ~lisa~
  11. I'm not even what the test is now haha...the sheet just says "SMALL BOWEL FOLLOW THROUGH (Examination may take up to 4 hours to complete)" The doctor said he wants that one done because he wants to check my small intestine too, not just the large. Its not a test for Celiac, I never had that actually confirmed. If you read in my signature you'll see why...
  12. OK so as most of you probably forget, I have a colonoscopy in 4 days (August 14th) and a barium follow-through in 7 days (August 17th)... I have been keeping my cool about it, but suddenly tonite the nerves and scary feeling has really hit me! Is this normal? Should I be scared/nervous? I've had a colonoscopy before, i know how they work, i know they...
  13. Yeah and now that I have the list I havent had a chance to go for ice cream at all I have my colonoscopy in 6 days, but gotta start the crap on Sunday .. getting nervous for sure! Thanks for asking about it ~lisa~
  14. I just buy lactose-free AND gluten-free ice cream, then I dont work to worry about getting affected by either ... but if I do eat normal ice cream that I know is gluten-free, I take a Lactaid pill ~lisa~
  15. Thanks for the advice guys. I did a little self-research tonite, and it would only make sense if what I had was a migraine (i've never had a migraine before, so i didnt know what it was lol). But i have like every symptom? hah Guess its just another thing I can check off on my list of Celiac-related symptoms ~lisa~
  16. I eat them all the time, actually use then as coughdrops, and have NEVER had an issue with them! But I could be wrong... ~lisa~
  17. nope I have not consumed MSG... I have been a caffeine addict for years, and i have had my fix of it today (i know i get headaches from going without coffee, but thats not my excuse now! )... I've been drinking coffee, water, iced tea, tea, rice beer...and have been eating veggies all day... I feel very heavy headed, most of the pain is in the front...
  18. I've seem to have had a constant pounding headache for the past 4 days (and i supposed a little stress never helps)...could it be stress setting off the headache symptom of Celiac?? Does anyone know how to get rid of a headache without taking Tylenol?? (my stomach would never tolerate it).. Thanks if you can help.. ~lisa~
  19. Yup ~lisa~ When I had my first colonoscopy done, (and obviously wanted to give me something to drink so I could be filled up) they had nothing to offer but some bland/old gluten-free crackers. And it took them asking other nurses before they even knew if they had anything.. ~lisa~
  20. Thanks again, everyone, for backing me up here, and continuing to think of me. That one Prednisone I took actually helped, like REALLY helped, and now my pains are just back to the way they have been for the last 6 months ... I only took it because I know the other 6 or 7 times they gave me it after going to ER it helped for the same pains. I'm sick...
  21. I was cleaning my room yesterday, and I FINALLY found my list!! Last year I went into a little gas station near a provincial park, and they sell ice cream, and they had something I never seen in any other place: a list of ingredients posted in front of the ice cream (which specifically say "contain gluten" etc just above the detailed ingredients)... These...
  22. Thank you guys for saying that I'm not dumb, and showing that I am not alone. I dont get it -- I have seen this food a zillion times before, and NEVER had a problem with it before ... so why it set me off now, I dont know. Its not like I dont accept Celiac, maybe its just that everything else today is making me sad lol ~lisa~
  23. Just out of nowhere I started to cry over having Celiac, just because earlier I looked in the fridge seeing 2 of my favourite foods that i cant touch ... this is the first time this has happened in a LONG time ... and i feel like an idiot ~lisa~
  24. Thank you Chelsea and Patti for backing me up!! I wasnt blaming the doctors for causing my stomach pains, I am just frustrated that I went to EMERGANCY and left without being helped... I am one of those who cant touch or smell gluten, and you not believing that reminds me of my family Thats all I'm going to say for now haha.. ~lisa~
  25. Nah this is like my 8th trip to ER in the last 6 months lol .. everyones like 99% certain that its Crohns, and when I have that scope next month it'll prove it. (plus everything else is ruled out) ~lisa~
