  1. Makeups(lipsticks are a MUST but everything else should be converted to gluten free too), shampoos, lotions, soaps, and really anything that you put on your face, hair, and hands should really be gluten free. I threw all my makeup out because a while being gluten free I got better and then I noticed a correlation with feeling bad again when I used certain...

You were gluten free at the time of testing correct? Otherwise that can make results come back false. Do not go gluten free until after all testing. Sometimes it can be hard to get a diagnosis...for me it was fairly easy once they tested for it...I went over a year before a doctor I finally saw suggested it. It depends on the doctor, results, etc for how...
  3. If it said wheat starch right on it then it for sure had gluten in it. However, some people do not get symptoms...doesn't mean the diet is not working. Some people get more sensitive to gluten as time goes on and some people just never get symptoms...normal is different for different people. Just comes to show that things change and you always have to read...
  4. Testing under 2 years of age can be inaccurate and give false negatives. Was she tested after 2 years? I am sure you will find out what to do and what will be best for your situation.
  5. Colitis is another condition separate from celiac. Colonoscopies can't detect celiac because celiac affects the small intestine. Colonoscopies are used to detect other things.
  6. Well celiac is not an allergy so she may have a reaction to gluten but it may not be an allergy. Allergies are IgE reactions and the gluten reactions from celiac are not. If you want to get her tested then you need to get her eating alot of gluten(equal to 2-3 pieces of bread a day) for about 3 months prior to testing. The longer you wait the harder it will...
  7. Sounds like it was pretty good...I'll have to try some sometime.
  8. It all depends if you want a diagnosis or not. It's an all or nothing diet though so if you only plan on taking her "mostly" off of gluten then you should get tested reason being if it is celiac you don't want to be doing that damage. If her body is doing well on the diet though it tells me there is a problem with gluten and you could always go with that...
  9. From the Delphi List: Alka-Seltzer (Bayer) All varieties (WARNING: Bayer will not guarantee outside suppliers ingredients are gluten-free) I do not trust Bayer since they do not know their suppliers ingredients.
  10. My guess is you HAVE celiac now. Biopsies can rule celiac in but they can't rule celiac out. It's a hit or miss on whether it will come back positive. Your intestines are huge and the doctor can't sample it all so if there is sporadic damage they can easily miss it and if it is in beginning stages then there may be no damage yet. Blood tests are usually...
  11. Kraft is fine as long as it doesn't say otherwise. Those things added to prevent caking are fine for us. I love the Kraft brand
  12. Definitely she should be tested for celiac.. She does have some of the symptoms but some people just don't get symptoms at all so don't not get tested if she doesn't have certain symptoms because that doesn't matter. Has she also had her thyroid checked?
  13. Well personally I would not bother. In order to get tested accurately you would need to get back eating gluten for at least 3 months eating equal to 2-3 pieces of bread a day. You can not get tested accurately as of now because you have been gluten free. You obviously have a problem with gluten and whether you are celiac or just gluten intolerant you will...
  14. Yoplait Yogurt does not hide wheat, rye, barley, or oats on the label so unless one of those is clearly stated on the label then it is gluten free. I eat Yoplait alot and love it. Do you have a list of the mainstream brands that have that same policy? It makes it alot easier when they do not hide gluten under anything so all we have to do is check the label...
  15. The food intolerance test will test to see if your body has a reaction to gluten but that can't determine celiac. Celiac has a separate and specific blood panel that is done just for that.
  16. There are tons of medicines that do contain gluten so you do always have to check. Off the top of my head I know that Tums is not gluten free and there are other things too so he obviously is not up on the know of what can contain gluten. EVERYTHING pretty much can contain gluten so it all needs to be checked. If you have the Delphi List that has a section...
  17. Well you have 2 options....you can go to a doctor and request a complete blood panel for celiac, even if they do not think it is that they have an obligation to do a blood test if you request it...if they won't then find some other doctor who will. Second, you can do an Enterolab test...this is accepted by some doctors but a majority do not accept it yet...
  18. That makes sense then....I was wondering what you were talking about because Smarties here are gluten free to my knowledge. Just comes to show how different countries are so different.
  19. I believe Smarties are gluten free...they are a Nestle product aren't they? That's one of those brands that won't hide anything on labels and I think they are safe...I need to check the label again to make sure.
  20. I was told they are gluten free
  21. According to the Delphi List it is gluten free. I have not personally called them though.
  22. I had positive blood tests and doctor did not even want to do a biopsy because he was sure it was celiac. I also have the HLA-DQ2 gene which is one of the main celiac predisposition genes.
  23. I feel it pretty much right away. Some people have delayed reactions which can then make it tough to know what it was you ate that could have had gluten in it. You are still fairly new to the diet and it does take time just to find all that hidden gluten and eliminate it. Any improvement by that short of time should be a very good sign. I had up and down...
  24. If you do get tested get back on gluten. You need to be eating quite a bit of gluten for about 3 months prior to testing for it to be accurate. Otherwise it is pointless because antibodies start to go away and your body heals. The complete panel is very efficient in testing and pretty accurate. The tTG is the best blood test for celiac(actually going to...
  25. The only thing to do is learn from your mistakes and know how bad you feel when this happens. At first I would figure it can't hurt me that much and since I was sick no matter what I ate and didn't react much to gluten like I do now and I would test myself sometimes and I tell you that was the worst thing I could have done for myself. I delayed the healing...
