  1. I have been gluten free for almost 2 years and it took me a while to get back to normal. I would go a week feeling great and then have a few bad days. I was so up and down for quite some time. Just make sure everything is gluten free(not only food but products like cosmetics, shampoos, soaps, lotions, etc) Other than that you just have to give your body...
  2. A guy thats worth your time will be considerate, want to know more about it and how he can help you feel better, and help you with it...maybe you need to have a serious talk with him. If he is not willing to support you and help you then maybe you should look at whether he is the right guy for you. I was in a relationship like that before and he was not too...

    ARCHIVED Saw Gi Doc Today...

He does sound like one of those rare good doctors we find. Glad you found a good one and hope things go well. WanderingHermit- It took me 8 months to really get back to normal..for some people it can take a few years for symptoms to go away. Or maybe there is something in addition to celiac in your case..I don't know. I had to do that barium test and...
  4. I tried homeschooling for a few years, public school for a few years, and private school for a few years so I have tried it all. I personally liked to be homeschooled. I was able to have a life during school and it didn't take nearly as long. It also taught me to be more independent. I am very social and have many friends from church, sports, people I used...
  5. I believe smarties are gluten free. I think they are made by Nestle, which is a brand that will clearly list gluten in the form of wheat, rye, barley, oats on the label and if one of those 4 things are not on there then it will be safe. I LOVE M&M's(the mint ones you can get around Christmas are delicious but I also eat alot of the regular kind-I...
  6. How long have you been attempting to be gluten free? The reason why you still may be having symptoms with anything you eat is because you are having these kinds of accidents. The first few months gluten free for me I felt like crap no matter what I ate and I wasn't really sensitive to gluten either...now that is completely different and I am very sensitive...
  7. I mostly use Bare Escentuals....their whole makeup line is gluten free Burt's Bees lip glosses are gluten free too.
  8. I agree, and it takes a while to see results from it as well. Some people don't see results for months. I saw improvement after 3 but was not really back to normal until 8 months. You were never completely gluten free what I could tell because you were slipping up alot. Most doctors are worthless when it comes to celiac. If you want to gain weight and...
  9. An anonymous member is someone who signs in but just doesn't want their screen name to show up.
  10. Have you been 100% gluten free including changing makeups, shampoos, soaps, lotions, etc? Also, some people take longer to heal. I did not see a big difference until the 3rd month but was not back to normal until the 8th month. Some people see their symptoms go away quicker and some slower and then some do not even get symptoms. I noticed you said attempting...
  11. Thats good she is going to get tested. I don't know why they would not do the bloodwork...that would have probably been a good thing to have done. Biopsies can be good but they can only rule celiac in with a positive and not out with a negative. If she has sporadic damage they could miss it or if she is in beginning stages and had no damage yet then it...
  12. Once celiac, always celiac....can not outgrow it. You can have it with symptoms or no symptoms. I tell people that it will damage my intestines and then that will cause interfering with absorption of food. I like to use analogies sometimes to explain it as well.
  13. Joe- PM me or email me sometime to keep in contact. I can definitely help you out with some places to visit while your up here. I also do some online courses right now, love it because I can actually have a life while I'm in school at least for now Talk to you soon
  14. I called and asked them about the flavor I use(FreshBurst) and they said it was gluten free and I use it with no problems. From the Delphi List: Listerine Mouthwash and Listerine Pocket Packs (Pfeizer Consumer Healthcare) (ve 3/31/2005) (800-223-0182 USA) (800-661-4659 Canada) No gluten-containing grains in this product, however I cannot guarantee that...
  15. Open Original Shared Link That link is the thread where you can find out how to get the Delphi List. If you would rather you can also contact Couter via email or post on that thread and he will send it to you.
  16. Seventh Generation products are gluten free. I use EnjoyLife chocolate chips which say gluten free on them. Ghiradelli(sp?) has some gluten free chocolate chips as well...there are actually quite a few chocolate chip brands that are ok for us. You should probably get the Delphi List which is 79 pages long of products and foods...that would help you...
  17. The tTG is the most specific test for celiac disease and the EMA is right behind that test for accuracy and they mainly detect damage to the intestines. They are much more reliable then the regular IgG and IgA antibodies tests. The tests that came back negative could have been for a # of reasons.
  18. That was very considerate of him.

    ARCHIVED Question

It will not show up in the section until a moderator pins it. A moderator may also move it to a different section if it fits another better. If you go to "Todays Active Posts" you will be able to see it before it is pinned though.
  20. If my memory is correct that is a General Mills brand correct? If so, they will not hide gluten and all you have to do is check the label for wheat, rye, barley, or oats. I know that they have some that are gluten free.
  21. Definitely go for more testing. That is not enough to rule it out. The tests Tiffaany mentioned need to be done. You also need to be on gluten 3 months prior to testing eating equal to about 2-3 pieces of bread a day. If you do not want to pursue testing then just try the diet.
  22. You were misinformed. If she follows the diet too then she was glutened as well because that stuff is NOT gluten free.
  23. Dr Pepper is gluten free
  24. I completely agree with that. It just depends on the body frame, etc. Don't ever let someone make you feel inferior. It's about how you feel comfortable. I am thin and have gained weight since being gluten free but would like to gain more...it will come if you pay attention and eat healthy...just don't obsess over it because it will backfire(believe me...
