  1. Yes, the gluten free diet will heal that damage that has been done. It varies from person to person on the time it takes for that to happen. Usually it is 3-6 months to heal damage(depending how much damage, age, etc) Symptoms will also go away with time and that also varies. I saw alot of improvement after the 3rd month but I really was not normal again...
  2. I agree that it is an all or nothing thing. If you still have gluten in any amount in your diet at all it will be causing damage still so your intestines will not heal and you just won't get to feeling better. If gluten is your problem then that could be one of the reasons you have not been feeling better if you are still getting it in your system. Keep...
  3. I usually buy my Bare Escentuals makeup through QVC. They have some good deals on sets and everything. I have not found it in stores although I have heard that one store carries it. I think that would be more expensive though.
  4. RED FLAG went up with this though. After they told you it was safe and all the traces removed they then said there are wheat products in them. Technically, there should not be wheat products left in them after that process. So that seems a bit questionable to me.
  5. Yea, I know that paranoid feeling. It never hurts to double check.
  6. Yep, Celestial Seasonings is awesome. They will mark gluten free right on the box As for Clinique, I used to love their products but what I had of theirs had gluten and it would give me horrible reactions.
  7. I know that alot of the times if alcohol is derived from wheat and goes through distillation then it is considered safe. So, if they said during the process all of the traces of gluten are gone then I would say it is safe to use. I have heard of that before. Don't assume this with other brands though because alot are not safe. Check with each brand you...
  8. Were you tested for a specific celiac panel or a gluten allergy? They are 2 different things. Celiac will not be picked up in any other testing even if its for gluten. It will only be picked up in the celiac panel.
  9. I love Chebe bread. I have used their cinnamon, garlic, and pizza crust and I like them all personally.
  10. It is a very specific test but it is usually for detecting the damage in the intestines. So if it is in beginning stages it may not pick it up but the tTG is a great test. It is going to be taking the place of biopsies soon at least in kids. If other tests came back positive then most likely there is some kind of issue with gluten going on that could possibly...
  11. Those results HIGHLY indicate celiac. The tTG is the best test for celiac. With those results I don't see think a biopsy is required. I was diagnosed by blood tests alone. The problem with biopsies is they can rule it in if it is positive but if it is negative it CAN'T rule celiac out. If there is sporadic damage they could have missed it. I don't think...
  12. Of course you should go in there and request it. There is nothing wrong with doing that and no reason to feel weird. They get paid enough and should follow the request. If your doctor will not then find one who will.
  13. I use Bare Escentuals mascara. That whole makeup line is gluten free so I use mostly their products. Continuous color by CoverGirl is gluten free and I have one shade of that. Whats the brand of those 2 products? That may help solve the mystery.
  14. Alcohol sticks out at me. That can contain gluten so you should check about that. Sometimes fragrances will have gluten in them too but the major thing that sticks out to me is Alcohol.
  15. If you post the ingredients or email them then I will look at them for you and tell you what I think. It's also always a good thing to check with the manufacturer anyway too. There are some brands I can recommend if you would like. I use a brand that has their whole makeup line gluten free which makes life easier.
  16. Yep, always check with the manufacturer because some teas do contain gluten. You pretty much have to check everything from soaps and shampoos to lipsticks.
  17. I love this recipe except with regular sugar or xylitol. I can't do artificial sweeteners. Thanks for posting
  18. An Enterolab is probably your best option at this point. Blood tests would not be valid now since you have been gluten free.
  19. Yea we looked into that and they didn't seem very accomodating. At least you got your $ back but still I would have been mad too.
  20. celiac3270 posted about it and here is the link Open Original Shared Link He will either send it to you or he put instructions on how to get it yourself if you prefer.
  21. The problem with biopsies is they can rule celiac in with a positive biopsy but they can't rule it out with a negative one. There could be no damage as of yet or sporadic damage that they missed. Were your blood tests positive? If you had blood tests which ones were done?
  22. My reactions last quite a while. Besides that if you are not completely gluten free then you will continue to feel bad. Are all of your products gluten free too? I know I was usuing lip balm a while bad and it had vitamin e derived from wheat that was giving me a reaction so it is important to check every angle. Also, 5 weeks to feel better would be lucky...
  23. Yes, it is continuing to grow tremendously. Gluten free food is suddenly taking off with all this publicity and it is great. I know that walmart is going to be sticking shelves with gluten free items this month. Even regular grocery stores are carrying more and more gluten free items. Don't get discouraged when you find some bad tasting specialty...
  24. The tTG is like the best test BUT it is specifically there to detect damage. The EMA is another good test and that is also used to detect damage. If there is none there yet then that would come back negative. The IgA and IgG are not as accurate but they are still helpful and are used to detect the sensitivity to gluten. This is usually one of the first...
  25. Good chance he has it. If he follows the diet then the complications should not be a risk factor. What you can do is support him and learn the things he can have. Maybe research it a bit and find him some good brands of food that taste good that he can eat. Find out what to read on labels and so forth. I think helping like that and just being supportive would...
