  1. I'm assuming you made sure they were gluten free before taking them. I had trouble with the first brand I took...it felt like I had heartburn or something so I switched brands. I like the brand I am on now. I also take probiotics and like them. Listen to your body though...if it does not like those enzymes then do not take them. Also, I was told you have...
  2. Glad you found what was causing a problem. For the first few months I thought products were not a big deal..but I was so wrong and quickly found out. Hope that takes care of your problem
  3. The fruity and cocoa pebbles are very sugary..very good though and I am not big on sugar. If you go to a health food store there are more choices. I love the Envirokidz Frosted Flakes, and some of their cereals..also Enjoy Life has a cinnamon raisin crunch that is very healthy and good. I'm not sure what they say over there but over here any gluten...

All of your relatives should be tested too because this is genetic. If you want the results then ask for them. Are you wondering about the blood tests that we talk about? Blood tests do not matter if you got a positive biopsy...a biopsy will rule it in for sure it is when it is negative where you can't rule it out. I'm sure you will find this site very helpful...
  5. The only cereals in regular grocery stores that are gluten free are Cocoa and Fruity Pebbles. Rice Krispies are not gluten free...they have barley in it and corn flakes are not gluten free either.
  6. You know I think if you stand on one foot and hop up and down between bites that it will stop symptoms better because I hear that when you are jumping the gluten has no other choice but to go right through you because it can't be digested with all the movement sorry I couldn't help myself
  7. Yep, I noticed they were way too salty. Made me want to wash them down with water before eating them.
  8. They definitely have issues with gluten going on and should be gluten free. The difference between celiac and gluten intolerance is the damage that is done. Celiac is an autoimmune response that attacks the intestines and damages them. Catching this now in them is good because the longer it goes undiagnosed the more problems it can cause. Also, there...
  9. For the experienced celiacs who know that this is not something to attempt it would be fine but to have new people read this and think it is something to supposedly "cure" them it is absolutely horrible because they don't know alot and may think it actually will cure them when it just may mask the symptoms. Symptoms don't matter so it doesn't matter if it...
  10. Yep, reaction times vary. I feel it right away and have a reaction that lasts about 2 weeks.
  11. Pepto Bismol is gluten free and really works for me so that may be something to try
  12. A biopsy is only a sure thing if it comes back positive, if it comes back negative it doesn't rule out celiac even if you have been on gluten...it only says there is either damage there they did not detect or there is no damage yet. Blood tests can diagnose you. Some are very accurate and in the future blood tests will be taking the place of biopsies....
  13. I know if people have problems with not absorbing properly then liquid vitamins are supposed to be really good because they are extra absorbable. Another thing...if you have a juicer you can make yourself fruit and veggie drinks that should be absorbed very well. My mom makes the absolute best ones and you can tell your body just wants that nutrition...
  14. There are tons of good brands of things...alot of us had to go through many yucky things to find those good things but then you can learn from our experiences so then you can go straight for the good things. My top 3 worst: 1. Ener-G rice bread(tastes like cardboard-not that I know what cardboard tastes like ) 2.Glutino chocolate bars-I like...
  15. Don't be sad about ...think of it as you have an answer and you will feel better. Think of all the damage that gluten can do and you can reverse that now. It's a good thing they caught it now too...if it goes ignored then you have 40-100 times more of a chance for cancer, diabetes, osteoporosis, etc. So as you can see it is not worth it. You can have so...
  16. Yes, if your mom had celiac as a baby she still has it. It will not go away. You may not have symptoms but your body still gets damage after gluten. She needs to be gluten free if she was diagnosed. My parents knew already because they knew how sick i was so they were very helpful. My extended family did not get it and still does not. Some are more...
  17. Try Tinkyada pasta....tastes really normal...none of my family knew a difference before we told them
  18. DO NOT take Tums. They are not gluten free. They told me that they can't guarantee them to be gluten free but others were told that they actually have gluten in them. Corn Starch is fine and would not be a problem but other ingreidents may pose a threat.
  19. You might not lose weight. Not everyone loses weight with celiac. You could gain it. All my symptoms did not go away until 8 months. To have progress like you have seen is definitely good. Even if the blood is in the normal range you can still have symptoms. Like when I get accidentally glutened one day and fell like crap but get a blood test done...the blood...
  20. They are the same thing. Dietitians know absolutely nothing! They know probably less then doctors. I was told by one that Spelt(a form of wheat) is gluten free...HELLO !??! Anyways, this site is filled with info that will help. celiac3270 posted a few months back the Delphi Forums 79 page list of gluten free products and foods...you may want to...
  21. Being gluten free works for me. My damage has healed and my symptoms went away. I am very skeptical of someone telling me there is a cure for it. How will I know if it is doing damage to my intestines? Symptoms do not matter with celiac...I may have them and I may not. Plus so many people "claim" there is a cure for it..if there is then doctors would catch...
  22. Testing in kids under the age of 2 can be false so that could be why the tests were negative.
  23. Crohns can be associated with it. They are probably just checking to rule it out. I was also checked for that. Do you know what blood tests he had? some blood tests are very accurate. A biopsy can be good for ruling in celiac but it can't rule celiac out. If there is little or no damage yet it will come back negative so be prepared for that.
  24. If you have some gluten then it gives your intestines damage and takes longer to heal. When I get the smallest amount of gluten I am sick for 2 weeks. There is not much you can do during a reaction except wait it out. The time frame for feeling better after going gluten free varies. With me it took me 3 months to feel alot better and 8 months to get back...
