  1. Yes, it does take time on the diet but believe me it is well worth it. I feel so much healthier then I did before. It took about 3 months and then by that point I put on maybe about 5 pounds and then it started to really come on after that. Have to give your intestines time to heal and start absorbing again though. I hope it helps you guys Let me know...
  2. Then more testing needs to be done. If gluten is the problem then the symptoms would be taken care of with it. Is there really anything to lose by trying the diet? If anything it is healthier for you anyway so why not see if it takes care of symptoms. I would personally test for any food sensitivities and look into every avenue of what could cause the...
  3. Well the time it takes for symptoms to go away varies. I was noticing a difference by the 3rd month but I really was not back to normal until the 8th month. Everyone is different though and for some they may see a notice alot quicker. It depends on the damage done, age, etc. I experienced weight loss of about 20-25 pounds. The diet took care of it and...
  4. That test is EMA and thats the test that comes back either positive or negative rather then #'s in a reference range.
  5. I see your new one. and you are not even near fat...that should not be in your vocabulary. They usually change immediately. Mine changed immediately when I did. You may want to hit refresh on your comp though.
  6. The tests don't indicate celiac(though there could be a chance it could be a false negative and in a beginning stage where the tests did not pick it up) I think that the best way to really tell would be the diet because your body will be able to tell. If you want more testing then a gene test, food sensitivity testing, and an enterolab would probably all...

    ARCHIVED Rash

There is no time limit on when it will come. Some people may see the DH immediately after they are exposed to gluten and others may not. I personally get the symptoms immediately but not usually the DH. That usually comes a few days after I have accidentally ingested it.

    ARCHIVED Rash

I was not diagnosed with DH but I do think I have it because I get itchy bumps when I am exposed to gluten. I usually get them on my knees/thighs/elbows/and stomach. So it can happen even though it may be rare to see bumps in those places.
  10. Yep, the oral ingestion is the problem. It is too easy to get it in your mouth.

    ARCHIVED Rash

The allergist must not know about celiac disease. It could be DH. Is it itchy?
  12. There are over 200 symptoms with celiac and everyone has different ones. You can have weight gain or loss with it. You don't have to have symptoms at all to have this or you can have completely different ones then the next person.
  13. Definitely don't want to see her suffer through those symptoms. She is obviously having a problem with something. Ever considered getting an Enterolab done for her? They test for the gene, gluten sensitivity, malabsorption, and I think other things as well. Have her symptoms started since being tested?
  14. Gluten can be in pretty much everything but there are brands of things we can have. Lipsticks/cosmetics/soaps/shampoos/lotions, etc. The smallest bit can cause us reactions so it is important to knock out every possibility. You can still have alot of "normal" food. This site will be a tremendous help to you. Many people on here know the great brands we...
  15. Sounds like a possibility. How old is she? Is she over 2? Because if she is under 2 then testing can be inaccurate. She may be starting to develop a problem...I would definitely monitor it closely especially knowing there are other celiacs in the family. Do you know what testing she had done? Some tests are more specific then others.
  16. Any amount is too much. There are no levels of celiac...all celiacs have to avoid all of gluten. There are different levels of symptoms but that has nothing to do with the damage that gluten causes. Some people just do not get symptoms There are specialty items that are more expensive but alot of stuff we can still have from the regular grocery store...
  17. Carrie~ Go to this link and it will tell you more about MSG Open Original Shared Link On there you can also see common reactions and so forth. Keep in mind not everyone may react to this..everyones bodies are different. My aunt was told to avoid all of this while pregnant too...I'm sorry but if someone who is pregnant can't eat it then it makes me...
  18. I use the brand Carrie uses(Imagine)...I could not think of the name while I was writing the post before...thanks Carrie
  19. For broths I usually use brands that say gluten free on them at the health food store. If you don't have time to make things there are canned soups there too(some of which are very good and say gluten free on them as well) If you are fine with eating MSG then by all means go for it, it is gluten free. I read some very disturbing things about it so I try...
  20. In the US Citric Acid is ok from a gluten standpoint. Some people have reacted to Citric Acid though so you may be sensitive to that.
  21. Yep, rapid heartbeat is very common in Graves Disease.
  22. A number of things can cause a rapid heartbeat. -dehydration-not enough water can make your heart beat fast -also have you had your thyroid checked? That was one of my symptoms with graves disease
  23. MSG is not good for you but from a gluten standpoint it is fine
  24. No it is not always bad. In fact, most of the time in the US it is ok. Don't avoid products because of that...you just have to call about it...but 9 out of 10 times it will be gluten free. The only exception where you do not have to call is when it is a brand, like Kraft, which will not hide anything. That company along with a list of some others will...
  25. Have you checked your other products like lipsticks and other cosmetics, shampoos, soaps, lotions, and all that stuff. Try to figure out what could be causing a reaction...if no chance of gluten then maybe you have a bug you are fighting. As for toothpaste, most are gluten free(like the major brands..I know Crest and Colgate are)
