  1. Some blood tests are pretty specific and the tTG test will be taking the place of biopsies for diagnosis in kids soon. I was diagnosed by blood tests alone..the doctor didn't even want a biopsy because the results came back really indicating celiac plus I have one of the main genes for celiac as well. Some doctors like to do blood test then biopsy but...
  2. I would go with the blood tests in this case and stay gluten free. A negative biopsy does NOT rule out celiac. It simply says there is either no damage or sporadic damage that they missed. I would find a good doctor who knows alot about celiac. Obviously this clown of a doctor wasn't too bright when it came to that. This site will help you out with foods...
  3. Were your tests done when you were off of gluten? If you were not ingesting gluten then they would most likely come back negative so those tests are worthless. Also, if you are a celiac and are not completely off gluten then you can still feel bad...gluten is found in things such as lipsticks, shampoos, lotions, soaps, etc. So it is important to eliminate...
  4. L-glutamine is awesome for intestinal healing. Also, if you are not absorbing properly the liquid vitamins may be good for you because of the way your body absorbs them.
  5. Yes, I went through gluten withdrawal symptoms to. It's a big adjustment for your body so you do have to give it time. I can't say how long it will last because everyones symptoms go away in different times.
  6. Usually testing below the age of 2 is inaccurate. When he starts with solid foods keep an eye and see if there are any noticeable reactions and when he is old enough get him tested.
  7. Yes, you can be sensitive to chemicals. To a point though I think everyone is senstive to those foreign substances. Anyway, there is a very good possibility you have both. Symptoms can be similar in candida and celiac but they are highly linked. I had both. Let us know how the results turn out.
  8. Yea, thats what I'm saying..if there is any added ingredients then you need to check but just them plain is nothing to be concerned about. That would be pretty nasty if the neighbors gave them milk that they drank straight from the container
  9. You need to be tested for celiac. You can't always tell from symptoms because there are over 200 associated with celiac and everyone can get different ones or none at all. You should request a complete panel because some blood tests are better then others.
  10. Yep, the best way to do it would be having a whole bunch of people call or write to them and let them know what we think. I'm sure if enough people said something that they would be more accomodating. After all, they do want people to come there.
  11. Yep, they could be making you sick if you have celiac. I had a gluten incident where I was gluten free but I was getting a reaction from something. It turned out my lip balm had vitamin e derived from wheat and that was causing my reaction! Just that little bit can really effect you. It also does take some time for symptoms to go away...it took me 3 months...
  12. Candida and Celiac are related. I was treated for Candida with antibiotics. Also, Graves Disease, which I also have, is HIGHLY connected with Celiac. Being gluten free for 2 weeks can alter results. You should have the equal to about 3 pieces of bread a day so even though you did not eliminate the cosmetics , if you were besides that gluten free before...
  13. Were you gluten free at the time of testing? That can throw testing off. You have to be on gluten for about 3 months prior to testing. If you have celiac the only thing that would show that is a celiac test...other testing would not show anything to prove that. what tests for celiac did you have done? some tests are better than others and some doctors do...
  14. I would pursue something like that if it happened to me.Whether it be a law suit or just writing in the newspaper about it I do not know but I would not let it go. I really think that they need to learn they can't do that and if they get enough negative publicity over that then they will change. Find out what your options are and what the best way is to approach...
  15. Watch out for that book. The Gluten Free Bible is ok for experienced celiacs but can be detrimental for newbies because it has many inaccuracies as far as products and some other things go and the newbies won't really know as far as that goes.
  16. You definitely need a new doctor. Also, I think you DO have celiac. Blood tests positive and some damage...I don't know what your doctor is thinking. You need to take those results to a doctor who knows a thing or 2 about celiac. You will find this site to have alot of really useful information. Some people on here know more than alot of these doctors...
  17. Regular milk will not have gluten in it. If they have something added to it and will not tell you then I would be concerned and it may have gluten.
  18. No, those are not things to worry about from a gluten standpoint.
  19. For testing they should be on gluten for 3 months. Your youngest one is too young to have an accurate test done. Kids under the age of 2 will not get accurate results most likely. If your older one is now experiencing symptoms she should probably be tested again. Most likely she has it in early stages. Do you know which tests she had done? The good complete...
  20. Hey...welcome to the board. It may be overwhelming a bit at first but it gets easier. I have been gluten free since January of 2004. Just be prepared there are gluten free products that taste like crap but then there are just great brands that you can find about to try. When you go gluten free though do not expect an instant change. I didn't really see...
  21. Welcome to the board. You can IM me anytime (my sn is Jesus4ever21 or yim is KaitiUSA) I'm 18, I like alot of music but I especially love country. Kenny Chesney is just the best
  22. I feel like crap usually for a good 2 weeks after being glutened. I usually get feeling tired, nausea, anxiety, etc. It is not a fun feeling.
  23. This is a duplicate post. Please do not respond here. Thanks
  24. Did he have a biopsy done as well or just blood tests? These blood tests pretty much came back all negative except for one slightly elevated. That would not be enough to indicate celiac at this point but there could be a gluten problem just now in beginning stages so that is why it is not elevated in the blood yet. If he has been having symptoms then...
