  1. I react quickly, in 20 minutes or so and if I got a big does of gluten it lasts for a long time... a good 2 weeks. Susan
  2. That's enough. Your all set, my sample was not much more then that and they didn't seem to have a problem with it. Susan
  3. I'm having both done on Wednesday and I'm just looking over the directions right now and it says I can have jello (lemon, lime or orange, why not other flavors....). So is jello gluten free? Also I can have beef or chicken broth... is Imagine brand gluten-free? Thanks for your help.... Susan
  4. I agree my ex is acting like a jerk, umm that's really why he is my ex. I could probably go to court and stop his visitation but my daughter is 14 and she wants to spend time with her dad so she'd hate me (and so would he) if I did that. I believe so strongly that she needs her father that I've had a 4 year long distance relationship with my boyfriend ...
  5. I'm using Bare Escentuals now too however, I not only e-mailed them but called as well and they were VERY EVASIVE as to if the line is gluten-free, as a matter of fact they told me they "thought" it was not and that I need to call about each individual product. So when I asked about a few I had handy they read me the ingredients and said, "there is no wheat...
  6. Have him read some medical stuff on the internet if he isn't buying the cross contamination issue, there is a lot of info out there. I'd think that he'd want you to feel good, that will make life easier for both of you. I have to say that I'm single and when I read this sort of thing it makes me so happy to be so (yes I'm jaded). We are beginning to...

  8. I travel a lot, at least 3 times a month (for a few days at a time) so I'm constantly having to deal with the restaurant issue. However a diner would probably be my last choice of places to eat, in my experience virtually everything is contaminated. I tend to think breakfast is hard, I know people here have eaten at denny's but I've not had great luck with...
  9. I'm polish and german! Susan
  10. I lost weight too, but I mostly eat just food in its natural state, i.e. fruit, veggies, meat, rice.... when I get in the mood for snacks or gluten-free bread (I make Manna by Anna) then I'll gain a pound or two. But sticking to unprocessed food I always loose weight. Susan
  11. There is gluten in all types of make up, lipstick and lotions. And to answer your question, NO I don't think its necessary at all. Stef- I'd love the gluten free Avon list but I'm still angry they brushed me off like they did. My address is bailey@cape.com susan
  12. I agree about their labeling and it bugs me. It use to be that they all said gluten free at my store, now almost none of them do, why is this? I did write to them about this issue and never got a response, which I liked even less. So I'm not going to buy them anymore until I find out. susan
  13. I wrote to Avon less then a month ago and they basically blew me off. They didn't send me any list they just directed me to the web site and told me ingredients were listed for each product. When I inquired about cross contamination and that I didn't understand all the ingredient terms I was told to ask my doctor! I will not use Avon again, I was very...
  14. Oh wonderful I saw this post and got nervous, I drink their Earl Grey tea every morning and its good to know its gluten-free. susan
  15. I can't speak for others but I don't think I feel sorry for myself because of my Celiac, I accept it for what it is and deal with it, I don't whine and I really don't "grieve for the foods I use to eat. However.... that doesn't change the fact that socially my life has changed some because of it. I don't go out with my friends as much as I use too....
  16. I've seen the Boscia stuff in the store, is it all gluten free? Susan
  17. Sure you can, my mom mixes it by hand and bakes it in the oven. I will say the texture of hers is a bit different then mine but the taste is the same. I would think with a mixer it would be more "mixed up" like the cycle in my bread machine (as opposed to my moms hand mixing) and would be more like the consistancy of mine. Susan
  18. I buy it 2 cases at a time! I do love it, I make loaves and biscuts from it. Susan
  19. I'd go! But then I go to the Caribbean a couple of times a year and have been twice to Jamaica. The entire area is known for fresh fish and fruits. Of course I travel a lot and I feel fairly confident that I can get simple foods in just about any city (not any restaurant but in any city). Grilled fish, plain.... fruit, salad, steamed or grilled veggies...
  20. I might be missing something but if you want protein and you are only avoiding gluten and casien then umm how about beef, chicken, fish, eggs, peanut butter?? Susan
  21. I'm in the same boat... my daughter is 14 and just won't do it. I cook mostly gluten-free but she gets snacks that aren't. Also at school she eats a turkey sandwich or pizza and won't take a lunch because its geeky. She is already different, she has a life threatening allergy to peanuts and tree nuts so she feels singled out at school to begin with. She...
  22. Hmmm I looked this thread over but didn't see...... so is plain old chapstick gluten-free or not?? Also I just saw the Paul Mitchell list and I've been usuing their hair spray (super shaper and super shaper plus) but notice they are not on the gluten-free list. Does anyone have a hairspray that is gluten-free? Thanks, Susan
  23. I have an old bread machine and have tried a ton of breads.. Manna by Anna is by far the best, way better then anything I've made or bought at the stores. Susan
  24. I have been raving about this bread for a year, I love it! It is better then some gluten breads in my book. I do mine in a bread maching but I keep wanting to try it in a french bread roll so I can then make crostini out of it and use it for dipping in olive oil, garlic and red peppers. Yum. Susan
  25. Darn our local grocery doesn't carry bobs Red Mill, does anyone know of any other brand that if gluten-free?? Susan
