bllamb47, I don't have a medical back round, but is your husband getting the required blood labs that go with taking Dapsone??? My Dermatologist directed me to take Dapsone daily in the morning and that a smaller dose daily was much more effective then a higher dose every other day... captaincrab55 replied to jlee2's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
jlee2, Have you tried an Environmental Allergist ??? I'm working through some issues currently.. Just this month, I've been to the GI, Food Allergy Testing (negative to all 27 foods tested for) and the Butt & Gut Scopes.. Waiting for the biopsy report... The Food Allergist did warn me to beware of the Snake Oil Salesmen out there, but did mention... -
My Dr started me on 25mg for the first month, now I'm allowed to double that as needed.. I try to keep it @ 25mg, knowing that it may cause some nasty side effects..

Before my Dermatologist would prescribe Dapsone, he wanted to see a base line blood lab... Only after reviewing my Lab results did he call in a prescription.. Than it was weekly labs for the first month and now every 3 months

Wow, that was a fast diagnoses of DH... In my case it was 56-1/2 years(lifetime @ the time for me), 4 Dermatologists in the last 30 years and lost count of the many Doctors my parents took me see... Dapsone was a wonder drug for me, but there were many blood tests involved... I always get a copy of the lab work and share it with my other Doctors...

captaincrab55 replied to Scott Adams's topic in Publications & Publicity
If One thinks it's a pain to check Meds for possible Gluten contents, start checking for corn content... Hydrolyzed wheat may offer an option for the Pharmaceutical companies... I'm sure people with corn allergies or sensitivities will be keeping tuned in to see if corn can be hydrolyzed... -

Roda, I'm sure it's not a big deal for some, but it could be a BIG DEAL for those that have issues with corn... What does it mean?? Somebody out there is really doing research... It doesn't mean that it's meant to suite us all... If it helps some, that's Great in my book.... Many years back when I was growing up, the great debate was still going... -

Check out the Supper WALMARTS for a Gluten Free section... I found Annie's Rice Pasta & Cheddar (gluten-free) @ the Supper WALMART in Aberdeen Maryland.. It was less than $3, but @ the Health Food Store it was a $1 more... Most prices there were the best I could find... -
ARCHIVED Newly Diagnosed, Can't Really Afford The Over Priced Foods.
captaincrab55 replied to tessabear's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Great Advice, but keep in mind there may be some other food that can cause issues too... It may be almost impossible to live with someone else and eat Gluten Free 24/7, if they aren't into seeing your health improve... Once Gluten Free for a while, you may find some or even all of your problems resolve themself... You may even discover some other... -
shezatrip, Welcome to the Group... Looks like I had Celiac all my life (over 56 1/2 years), along with Dermatitus Herpetiformis.. I'm still looking for answers.. I ran into some Issues with Enterolab, they can't do business in Maryland... Keep in mind that they are adding corn and other foods to their Food Testing Menu... Not sure about...

Just wondering if anyone heard or knows about, "Micronized Gluten" ??? I saw my Dermatologist late Wed 12/22/10, for my DH and he claims it will make it possible to eat gluten after that process... He thinks the new process is about a year or so away from putting safe food on the shelf.. I did a search here and didn't see anything Posted here about Micronized...

My Doctor sent me there telling me that this Allergist was one of the best in his field.. There wasn't any chance to ask a question... It took several days of calling just to leave a message.. They called back when I wasn't available, and my wife was able to make the first available appointment for me (4 months away).. It was almost another month... -

ARCHIVED Enterolab
captaincrab55 replied to captaincrab55's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
As far as FedEX, Enterolab won't cross State Line in Md with any paper trail, but they will email (go figure)... As far as an Allergist, I saw one @ Johns Hopkins last February... For the $$$ I spent there and losing a days wage, I could of paid Enterolab full out of pocket.. It took 4 months to get the appointment, I showed up and he didn't...
