ARCHIVED Osteoporosis
Wolicki replied to Wolicki's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I am going to give a big shout out to Curves. I've been working out there daily. Their routine is resistance machines, that you can make more difficult based on your effort each time. Yeah, starting out malnourished like we all were means a lower bar at the beginning, but you'll get there! I went for my one year checkup with my DO a few weeks ago and... -
ARCHIVED Osteoporosis
Wolicki replied to Wolicki's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Gemini, I am with you. Although I am 44, I felt 100 for years. I honestly feel better and younger than I did at 20, thanks to the diet. Well, er, except for my right hip that is -
ARCHIVED Osteoporosis
Wolicki replied to Wolicki's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I am 44, and not menopausal. I took reclast for many years, but I was so very sick from the celiac, I don't think it would have worked even though it bypasses the GI tract. I was a skeleton trying to get through every day prior to diagnosis. I did chat with my doctor about it. He's a DO, and is "drug resistant" However, he is very comfortable with... -

ARCHIVED Osteoporosis
Wolicki posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi All, I got some good news today, and thought I would share! I was diagnosed with Osteoporosis and Osteopenia long before I was diagnosed with Celiac. For about 8 years, I have had annual bone scans and annual Reclast injections, only to learn it was getting worse. I have been gluten free for a bit over a year. I've been taking my calcium, Vitamin... -

ARCHIVED Crazy Hunger!
Wolicki replied to brett31em's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yes, I was constantly starving for 1o years. There was not enough food on the planet to satisfy. Come to find out, the celiac body is starved for nutrients due to malabsorption. Once I went gluten free, the hunger intensified for about a month. I became an eating machine! Once my nutrient levels evened out, my appetite normalized. I sometimes forget... -
Oh Geez, sorry Maggie, didn't realize I did not put in the name! The pizza/pasta place is called Cisero's Pizzaria, and the kabob place is called Skewers. It's on the southeast corner, in between the nail salon and the tire place. It's one of those circular food court things, and they are right in the middle of the horseshoe next to Quizno's. Enjoy! I went down to Lake Forest for work today. It was 2 pm and I was starving. I stopped by a food court type place on the corner of Trabuco and Bake Parkway. I stopped at the first place to peruse the menu on the window. The owner popped out and said "Are you hungry?" I said yes, I was starving but have food allergies. He said "what kind?" I told him...

ARCHIVED What Is This? 2.
Wolicki replied to Simona19's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
IT's fairly easy to recover. PT and being conscious of what you are doing. You'll be just fine. Keep a good attitude and it makes it easier -
ARCHIVED What Is This? 2.
Wolicki replied to Simona19's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I have that. It started after I broke my foot, 5th metatarsal, in Jan. My ortho prescribed "dancer's pads" in my shoe. Worked like a charm. No more pain. I was compensating and putting too much pressure on that side. Hope yours gets better soon! -
ARCHIVED Is Cancer Inevitable For Me?
Wolicki replied to jasonD2's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
OK Jason, it's time for an intervention. Now I say this with care and concern, but YOU HAVE GOT TO GET SOME PROFESSIONAL HELP NOW. This is interfering with every part of your life. You're in a place where you can't see the forest for the trees. People here are really trying to help, but you can only see why the advice won't work. You've got to spend... -

So, I am sitting here feeling like an idiot in between trips to the loo I went to a luncheon today, and the only thing safe to eat was steamed carrots and zucchini. Good thing I paid $40 for the lunch, right? So, I go in search of something to fill the screaming void in my tummy. Went to Cherry on Top, a Frozen Yogurt chain. Now, before anyone says...

ARCHIVED More Digestive Issues Following Gluten Free Diet
Wolicki replied to fiveftjen's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
YEs, exact same thing. I was so gurgly, it was embarassing. And my entire GI tract FREAKED out. It took a few months and elimination of some foods to get it all to stop. I think it does have to "re-learn." -

ARCHIVED Rice Intolerance - What Can You Tolerate?
Wolicki replied to gf-soph's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I had the same issue for about 6 months. ONe bite of rice and I looked hugely pregnant. Once I started testing it, I could tolerate a few bites of rice, or gluten free baked goods with rice flour. Trader Joes rice cakes, in moderation, were ok before actual rice. A year later, I can eat 1/2 cup rice with no issues. HTH -
Thanks, Daniknik! Anyone else?

ARCHIVED Anyone Know How I Can Put Weight On?
Wolicki replied to jasonD2's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
My 13 yr old son went on a weight gain campaign with some guidance from Mom on June 15. He has gained 30 pounds since then, and is now 6 ft, 135#. I realized that for him, living in a gluten free household, he was not getting enough carbs. So I started making him gluten free grains: spaghetti, rice, quinoa, etc. added to his dinners. He can tolerate dairy... -

ARCHIVED Do Probiotics And Enzymes Help You For The Most Part?
Wolicki replied to sweeeeet's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I am a little more than a year gluten free. If I go more than 2 days without my pro-b's, I bloat up like a balloon. I am fairly certain I am on them for life. I actually take HCL before meals, and enzymes after. That has improved my digestion drastically. HTH -
For those of you who are Lectin intolerant, I would be very curious to know what specific symptoms you had, and how eliminating lectins has made a difference for you. I've read lots of articles, so I am not really looking for links, but rather anecdotal stories from those who have experienced it. I am particularly interested in if eliminating lectins...
