	1. There are no tests that will tell you if a food has no gluten in it. We don't have tests that are this sensitive yet, sadly (not even the industry folks). And to the best of my knowledge, some of us are reacting to less than the detection levels of the tests, so that kind of...well, it bites. 2. The EZ gluten test mentioned will test, I think it...

ARCHIVED Newly Diagnosed And Depressed About It AllT.H. replied to aroche84's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease So sorry it's been so hard! *hugs* And yeah, it's hard in the beginning, because there is so much information that you don't know and it's something that you HAVE to deal with every day now. But really, it's like anything else new: starting a new job, having a baby, moving to a new city. You'll be bombarded with new information constantly, and it'll...

First - so sorry you're still ill! I didn't get well at first, either. I was feeling awful for a while, so as many *virtual hugs* as you need. Second - What are your symptoms? It's frustrating beyond belief when you're still sick, and like you said - LOTS of different things can cause problems. It's so very hard to figure out which things cause our own...

ARCHIVED I Hate When We Have To Make Decisions Because Of Our DiseaseT.H. replied to T.H.'s topic in Super Sensitive People Well, I'm half way through the trip now, and I gotta say....not goin' so well. I'm having a lovely ole pity party right now, sigh. Planning needs to be much more intense next time, it looks like. Farms and health food stores along our route all didn't pan out, or I couldn't get in touch with them properly to even arrange to meet (like the lovely...

ARCHIVED I'm *finally* Seeing ProgressT.H. replied to julandjo's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut A weird question, but what type of water filter do you use? An acquaintance of mine from on-line just got her coconut-allergic daughter to finally start getting better for the first time in her life when they changed their water. They found out that pretty much all charcoal filters - like those used in fridge water filters and Brita ones - are coconut based...

ARCHIVED Gluten Free, Dairy Free, Fructose Free...how Am I Still Sick?T.H. replied to TummyTrubble's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut Could it be corn? Corn is in iodized salt to stabilize the iodine. Corn is also used in the processing of white rice, I believe. Either during processing or polishing - I can't recall exactly, only that those who are sensitive to corn often have trouble with white rice. If corn is fed to the chicken, the skin will often have a little of the corn...

Yeah. Pepper always seemed to be a problem now. Although a lovely gal who lives in CA had access to a pepper tree, which isn't real pepper but makes berries that are used as red pepper corns. She let me have a bag of the berries. Those, totally unprocessed and untouched, I have no trouble with. I had to drop two different salts. One was when I couldn...

ARCHIVED When You First Went Gluten Free, Did You Lose Weight?T.H. replied to Prezwilson15's topic in Related Issues & Disorders I always think I lost more than I did (keep messing up my actual weight with how much I lost, LOL), but looking to make sure I'm not screwing up... I lost 50 pounds in the first 6 months (I was about 50 pounds overweight, though). Over the next few months, it fluctuated between about 5 pounds, up or down, and then finally dropped another 10 pounds within...

ARCHIVED Info For Daycare ProviderT.H. replied to suziq0805's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs It's definitely a possibility. And if more than one child is fed at a time, he can't be near them - how often do we see little ones throw food or spit it out so that it sprays across the table? If they eat food anywhere but the high chair, that's a risk too. And playing with playdough. And I believe some glues or tempera paint powders, too - you'd have...

ARCHIVED Opinions On Black Diamond CheeseT.H. replied to Newtoitall's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications I literally just came across a glutened cheese today for the first time (aside from some super fancy Bleu cheese): beer-washed cheese. This is the kind I saw today: Open Original Shared Link I had no idea this even existed! I looked on the web and it looks like ale washed or beer washed cheeses are not from this company alone, although not ever...

If you are sensitive enough, or the gluten cc is high enough, it certainly could be an issue. Currently, some members of my family can use spices, but I haven't found any so far that I can have without having a reaction. Although I'm now growing a huge herb garden to make up for it. Works out okay, although I really miss cinnamon!

ARCHIVED Is Contamination Unlikely?T.H. replied to milkmommy's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease That sounds somewhat similar to my daughter. A few months ago, everything she put into her stomach hurt, no matter what, even if it was a glass of water! I saw what she had to go through, where she was hungry but it always hurt so much she didn't want to eat - so much sympathy for you, hon! Here's what they tested her for, in case it helps, and what seems...

ARCHIVED Newly Diagnosed...just A Little Support?T.H. replied to SpiderD's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease Pretty much. I've really seen a main couple approaches, usually. 1) Eat some gluten-free processed foods, be careful with gluten cross contamination during cooking, careful with eating out and vitamins and such. If there's any problems, get more careful and potentially cut out problem foods. 2) Ditch most processed foods, be super careful...

ARCHIVED Any Connection To Celiac And Urinary Urgency?T.H. replied to concernedmamma's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs Well I will be darned - I was just thinking about this today! I've kind of wondered if this might be one of my symptoms, since when I get gluten, I feel thirsty as heck, drink tons of water, but it seems to go right through me and I have to pee constantly. I'm on a road trip now, got glutened, and...let's just say I am familiar with many road-side rest...

I haven't, but we were looking for some that might work for us, and quite a number of them who are 'gluten free' don't even test for gluten, even if they have a shared line. So I could see them being a problem, definitely. We also had a big problem finding dairy free pro-biotics when we last looked, so if you have any dairy issues, that could be an issue...

ARCHIVED I Hate When We Have To Make Decisions Because Of Our DiseaseT.H. replied to T.H.'s topic in Super Sensitive People Yes, I did! There's one in TN that I'm hoping to stop by, but we're trying to get in touch, still. Playing a lot of phone tag.

ARCHIVED How Definitive Is The Blood Test?T.H. replied to terpeng's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs I'm so sorry to say that the doctor you saw is completely and utterly ignorant about celiac disease. I will restrain myself from saying more out of a desire to avoid using curse words. Low numbers do not mean that she is less sensitive. Honestly, doctors are only now realizing that a negative biopsy can still be celiac disease - they don't know enough...

For explanations - we've had a hard time with it. My youngest was 7 when both he and his older sister went off gluten. We were homeschooling at the time, and with all the issues that have come up, I'm happy with that choice. My kids have learned to stick up for themselves, but it's been hard. Some people simply can't believe that the issue is real unless...

ARCHIVED I Hate When We Have To Make Decisions Because Of Our DiseaseT.H. replied to T.H.'s topic in Super Sensitive People Thank you guys for all the support! And...wow, things exploded just a day or two after I wrote this! I was discussing it with my folks, who live one state east of us, and it turns out that they had been planning to go see an ailing friend of my mother's (who lives in Washington DC) sometime in the next couple of months. So we quickly arranged things...

ARCHIVED What If My Chicken Eats Wheat?T.H. replied to missingtortillas's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications Yes, I'm aware. Doesn't really get all the nooks and crannies, though, rather like trying to wash gluten out of a collander...only slimier, heh. The poultry seems just fine for most of the celiacs in the family, but a couple of us got a gluten reaction the majority of the time we tried chicken, so we stay away from it for the moment. Perhaps someday...

Me either! Well, not to drink coffee. I have accompanied my husband on a few occasions, though, since he seems to have some kind of Starbucks spidey sense and can find one within minutes, any city in the USA, I swear.

ARCHIVED Sugar CravingsT.H. replied to UpbeatPete's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease You could be suffering from sugar addiction - it's weird stuff, but it really explains how I used to react to sugar! Well, and i was allergic to it, too! Open Original Shared Link When I stayed completely off of sugar for a few weeks, the craving went completely away. But if I got just a taste, it came roaring back like crazy and I craved it...

ARCHIVED Gluten AnxietyT.H. replied to nik95670's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease Oh yeah, I've been there! I first dealt with it by staying paranoid for months, LOL. Time was really the only cure for it, and for my fears that involved screwing up my good health again. But looking back, I kind of see it as a lifestyle change rather like having a new baby. At first, you are scared to death about raising a child, screwing up, dropping...
