ARCHIVED Thyroid And Celiac Disease
twe0708 replied to twe0708's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Hi Reba, What is the difference between auto immune thyroid disease and regular thyroid disease? My oldest was diagnosed with Graves Disease and is taking Methimazole 10 MG once a day. She goes back and forth between a 10 mg pill and 1/2 of a 10 mg pill. Usually for about a year then goes into under active thyroid and has to cut the pill in half to... -
Is is smart to go to a restaurant that makes mostly pizza dishes? A group wants to go to Old Chicago Pizza tonight and I would order the Grande Nachos which are gluten free but if they make their own pizza doe daily, wouldn't there be flour in the air? I heard that some get sick from just walking through a bakery at the grocery store.

ARCHIVED Beer And Celiac Disease
twe0708 posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
My husband still drinks beer and does everyday so I never get to kiss him like a husband and wife but more like a friend on the cheek. Does anyone else out there have this problem or did your spouse quit drinking beer since you were diagnosed? Also, how do you kiss you spouse if they still eat food containing gluten? -
ARCHIVED Mccormick Neon Food Dye
twe0708 replied to twe0708's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Thanks all. This was bloating due to gluten, I know the difference. My daughter slipped me one bite of her muddy buddy which is rice chex, melted semi choc. morsals and p-nut butter all mixed together. I figured out that one little rice chex I had was contaminated since she used her p-nut butter. We learn as we go! -
I just woke up from my nap and ate a sugar cookie that I made but used food dye this time in the frosting and feel bloated. Here are the ingredients: Water, Propylene Glycol, FD & C Blue 1, FD&C Red 3. FD&C Yellow 5, FD&C Red 40 and Proplparaben (Preservative) the Better Crocker Decor selects which are a 6 pack of sprinkles has...

ARCHIVED My Dad Was Just Diagnosed

I eat a lot of kidney beans or black beans with tomato's and cheese on corn tortillas. Or you can make fajitas. Since we can't use a lot of marinating sauces that we are use to I use a lot of yellow onions. Apples with p-nut butter are good. Sauteed red and green peppers and onion with steak or chicken and rice. Eggs in the morning. Fresh blueberries... -
Thank you everyone for your posts. Paranoid is exactly how I have been feeling. Good to know we can still live as long as the average person. It's been hard because I feel so embarrassed going in to restaurant after restaurant and explaining my situation. It's embarrassing to cry in a restaurant and have to put your sunglasses on. I will try to relax...

I read a lot of posts, but most people have been newly diagnosed or haven't been gluten free for more than 10 years (at least very few that I have read about!) Does anyone know of anyone with Celiac Disease that is in their late 60's or 70 years plus of age? Just wondering if people with Celiac can live to be 80 plus? And I know it depends on how well you...

ARCHIVED New Here, Wife Has Celiac
twe0708 replied to notkuroda's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Wow! What a lucky wife you have! I wonder if I am getting contaminated by my husband when he drinks beer? We clearly know that we can't kiss unless he has brushed his teeth, but you say you wait a day if you have a beer. My husband drinks beer every night! Not an alcoholic but likes one or two after work. I wonder if brushing his teeth like everyone... -

ARCHIVED Do I Not Have Celiac Disease?
twe0708 replied to jimbob2225's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
A self test? Why not just get a blood test so you know for sure? Or just go on a gluten free diet and if you feel better, even if you have the blood test and it tells you your not, then stick with gluten free. -

You are right about Fruity Pebbles! I did call and they did say they don't contain any wheat products but they can't label them gluten free because even though they are produced on a machine that is wheat free, the facility itself isn't wheat free. I would love a bowl of fruity pebbles! You are never too old (40) for fruity pebbles! Does anyone else... -

As much as I would love to say Fruity Pebbles are gluten free, they are not! Sorry! Chexs cereal is about the only safe cereal out there. The doritos are probably off the list too! -

How horrible! So sorry and hope he gets better soon! I can't believe that when someone goes in to see their doctor about messed up bowels and stomach pains that they just don't run a simple blood test for Celiac. Instead they diagnose it as IBS or go home and take some Metamucil! How much can the test really cost! Makes me mad! Hope he gets better... -

ARCHIVED Help For The World's Pickiest Eater
twe0708 replied to Dakko's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I am very picky too and find myself eating a lot of the same foods. Here are some of the foods I eat: fresh blueberries with a banana or two and 1/2 cup of crushed ice in a blender for about 5 to 8 seconds makes a great fruit smoothie. (don't blend too long because then it gets too watery) This is great in the morning, plus my kids have a glass too...
