I have been having a problem with acid reflux. Today I had three eggs with two slices of cantalope (sp?) and a banana, and within 30 minutes I could feel it starting. I had an apple for snack with almonds and I am still having the acid reflux. Last night I had a vegetable drink at home and it started with 15 mintues - salad, carrots, celery, cucumber,...

ARCHIVED Helped My Friend Make Cupcakes... Ugh
twe0708 replied to TiffersAnn's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
You can always make the gluten free cupcakes with her using Betty Crocker. Those taste the same as regular cupcakes. -
I went to PF Chang's a few weeks ago in Tampa, FL and ordered the beef broccoli and lettuce wraps, and within 45 minutes I was in the bathroom as if I had had a laxative for lunch. I just ate there last week and had the lettuce wrap and was fine, so not sure if the cook mixed up my order or used a utensil that was contaminated. I also went to Publix a...

ARCHIVED What Are Your Symptoms?
twe0708 replied to SuperMolly's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I usually know within about 45 minutes to an hour. It's usually to the bathroom within 45 minutes and then I am good or my stomach blows up with a sharp pain on my right side. So far after about a half hour of the stomach bloating I am fine - except for what I am not feeling with what it's doing to my insides, I did make the wrong choice of eating a donut... -
ARCHIVED All 3 Kids Diagnosed
twe0708 replied to ProudMommyDebbie's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
A couple of items I have found that my kids like are the Betty Crocker Gluten free cake mix and Quinoa Macaroni (not sure if they are called Macaroni but they are the shape of the macaroni and cheese noodles) taste great! You can't even tell they are gluten free. I can't even imagine how hard it is with three kids having this problem. Good luck! -
Thanks for the advice. I will try adding the yolk back in and see if that helps. We did start adding fresh fruit smoothies in the morning so maybe it will all come together.

ARCHIVED Breakfast Options

Pamela's gluten-free Pancake mix is good and my teenage daughters love it. They add tiny hershey choc. chips when making them. -
I had four egg whites with cheese, peppers and onions for breakfast, shouldn't this be enough to fill me up? I have gained 10 pounds since being diagnosed a little over a year ago. If I don't eat enough I get really bad headaches. I would like to lose the 10 pounds, but when I try to eat right it's not enough and I end up with a headache. Anyone else...

ARCHIVED Bob's Redmill Flour
twe0708 posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Not sure if we are allowed to do this, but I have a ton of Bob's Redmill flour that I don't need and was wondering if anyone would like to buy it. I live in Florida but will ship it to your house if you are interested. I bought it after I was diagnosed thinking I would need it to bake and eat special gluten-free but I am managing on regular foods that... -
ARCHIVED Bobby Brown Foundation

What kind of foundation do you use and does anyone know if Bobby Brown is Gluten Free? They said it contains corn and soy, so it shouldn't be a problem, right? -
ARCHIVED I Wonder?
twe0708 replied to twe0708's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Interesting replies. I have been mostly gluten free for a year now. Maybe an occasional glutening by a crumb, but that's it and no major side effects except for what it is doing to the inside of my body that I can't feel. But one day about a month ago I decided to eat a donut and became very sick and was throwing up (three times) within an hour. Just... -
I am wondering if a regular person who doesn't have gluten problems would react the same way we do if they went off of wheat for more than 6 months and then tried to eat something containing wheat.

ARCHIVED Need New Ideas For Chicken Mardinade
twe0708 replied to VioletBlue's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
McCormicks has these pre-made seasoning packets with about 6 to 8 different spices on the packet that the grocery stores sell now. So they are ready to go, just mix with chicken or steak The recipe also calls for 1 lime and 1 orange with a little oil. I mix this up and cut the chicken in strips and cook them on an iron skillet for fajitas. It is so good... -
ARCHIVED Carbs Make Me Feel Lousy
twe0708 replied to sandsurfgirl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Try eating something that has protein in it to balance it out. If I eat something with mostly carbs it messes me up. If I have a meal that is half carbs and half protein, I do just fine. -

ARCHIVED Need Advice With Thyroid Problems
twe0708 replied to mygfworld's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
My daughter is 16 and takes 10 mg once a day of methimazole for hyperthyroidism. She's been the on meds for 7 years and now the doctor wants to kill her thyroid off. I am concerned about this because I have read about some horrible side effects, but I also know she can't stay on the medicine for the rest of her life. Anyone else have their thyroid killed... -
ARCHIVED It's Finally Clear!
twe0708 posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I made a very bad decision at work today and decided to have a donut. Within an hour I was feeling sick. Within two hours I was throwing up in my car on the way home. Arrived home and laid in bed for a half hour before tossing out of both ends again. Tossed one more time and after 3 and a half hours I am finally feeling better! I am sure it's all due... -
ARCHIVED Rubberbands For Braces
twe0708 posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I just started wearing rubber bands for my braces, does anyone know if these rubber bands are gluten free? I read somewhere that some people get sores in their mouth and I seem to get them on one side of my tongue. You can't see them and there is only one and it feels like a cut or canker sore. It keeps coming and going so not sure if I am getting gluten... -

Pizza on a cruise and will never have it again. I did have a about a month ago and had no problems. Had one again the following weekend to see and still not problems. I know, I know...please do not respond to my drinking these beers because I know you all will say that still doesn't mean it was good for you even though you didn't have symptoms. Just imagine... -
Just wondering if anyone does a lot of juicing. Not sure if "juicing" is the right word for it, but I just purchased a Breville Juicer and was wondering if anyone else makes juice out of fresh vegetables and fruits and what their feedback is on this? I have been reading about fresh juice from vegetables and fruit and how much more our bodies absorb vs eating...

ARCHIVED Nature Made Acidophilus Probiotics
twe0708 posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Are these beneficial or is is better to buy the ones in the refrigerator. I've heard that the probiotics the fridge are better and the ones that come in pill form on the shelf aren't any good. Any thoughts? -
Hi Sue, The doc said it's Gardnerella Vaginalls but I don't have the discharge or odor that it talks about on the Internet or any other symptoms, just the mild cramping. I just went in for a yearly checkup and this was my dx. My cruise is this Sunday and it's for a week. I did see the website about comments and they are horrible. There is no way...
