A quick meal I always make is Kidney beans or black beans shred some cheese tomato's onions Heat a few corn tortillas in the microwave and you have a nice taco. They are also easy to take to work I also make everything above with white or brown rice (minus the tortilla) Throw it all in a plastic container and you have lunch for the next day.... -
So I washed my chocolate lab the other day in our shower and as I was washing him I noticed that his shampoo says Derma Care Oatmeal Shampoo. Ugh Too late it was already all over him. It was shampoo we bought some time ago and didn't think to check it. Do I need to rewash my dog and what about his bed linens?

twe0708 posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Diagnosed with celiac disease about 4 months ago. For those of you that have been gluten free, do you have firm bowel movements everyday now? I am firm about once or twice every two weeks and then it turns bad. This is pretty much what I eat everyday. Salad Kraft Thousand Island Tomaotes Cheddar Cheese Onions White or Brown Rice Oatmeal (gluten... -

ARCHIVED Am I Missing Anything
twe0708 posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
As I read more and more on this website I discover other areas my doctor should have checked since I have been diagnosed with Celiac Disease. For example: I had to ask my doctor about a bone scan because I read that some people develop osteoporosis and in my case after my bone scan I have osteopenia. I have now read up on vitamin B deficiency and all of... -
Seems like last time I went to the Orthodontist for my fitting I was bloated after. Today I just picked up my Invisalign and feel a little bloated again. Could it just be something in the office? Could it be the latex gloves?

My dad was a diabetic and lost both legs, was in a wheel chair, had eye problems and heart problems and it took him years to get on disability! I couldn't imagine they would consider celiac disease a disability, but then you never know. Someone has a little backache and and we give them disability for the rest of their life. Who knows!

I have been trying to get Publix to order the gluten free oatmeal and they take down my information and never call me back. They keep saying "let me contact our vendor and we will let you know"! I called them three times on this and get the same answer every time! I don't even know why they offer the service if they can't follow through. I also find expired... -
ARCHIVED Bloating/gas

Can you still have problems with bloating/gas if you are gluten free? I mean just because we are gluten free doesn't mean we will never be bloated or have gas again, right? -
ARCHIVED Cross Contamination In My Kitchen.
twe0708 replied to SGWhiskers's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I hear what you are saying. I didn't want to ban wheat from my family but when they bring home fast food (cheeseburgers) and then touch the counters, faucets or fridge, everything is contaminated. Same with pizza. My husband even ate a sandwich at the computer we both share. Do you think there is wheat all over the key board, desk and mouse! I don... -
This is an old post but I was just researching white spots on my nails and Pyroluria popped up. The problem is only on my toe nails and it looks as if someone has scratched the tops of them. Is this what they are referring to when they say white spots on nails? It's almost as if they are dried out! I also experience some of the other symptoms listed but...

ARCHIVED Is There A Substitute For Sweet Rice Flour
twe0708 replied to twe0708's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Thanks! I will give that a try. I am still looking for the perfect pancake. Pam's is still number 1 but I haven't really tried many other recipes and Pam's is a little doughy on the inside still but is better than nothing. I have already tried cooking it at a lower temp. and longer but still no luck. -

ARCHIVED Not Happy With Blood Test Results
twe0708 replied to SLB5757's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
You need to try a gluten free diet for at least three weeks to see how you feel. Taco Bell is not recommended. -
I just found some old test results from a bone scan from 2004. In 2/6/2004 my bone scan was T-Score -0.9 and Z-Score was 0.8, now 10/7/09 it's T-Score -1.1 and Z-Score is -1.0. I know my most recent score isn't good but is the difference considered a very big change (meaning that I am losing it very quickly) or considered what would be expected with someone...

ARCHIVED Is There A Substitute For Sweet Rice Flour
twe0708 replied to twe0708's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Ok, so I ended up using sweet white sorghum flour and not sure if this is why but I thought the pancake tasted like there was sand in my teeth when I would chew. Pamela's pancake mix is still the way to go!
