  1. It's oral and I have decided to wait until after my cruise because I don't want it to wipe me out. I also read on a website that people have tried taking 800 mg of folic acid a day and it has helped them so I am going to give this a try before taking an antibiotic that is so hard on the body. Plus I think I will get tested again when returning from my trip...
  2. I am battling a bacteria problem too and read on a natural health site that women were taking 800mg of folic acid daily and it helped them. I am going today to buy some so can't tell you if it works or not. I just don't want to try a harsh antibiotic unless I absolutely have to.
  3. and if so how were you treated? I am thinking I got this because I wasn't receiving enough nutrients from my food before being diagnosed, but that was over 6 months ago and I don't have any symptoms just a test that says I have it. I read some where that increasing Folic Acid to 800 mg a day has helped other women. My doc gave me metronidazole 500 mg to...
  4. Try to stay away for soy sauce. Have you seen how much salt is in soy!
  5. Try making your own sugar cookies. I made some with my daughters over Christmas and they were so good. Couldn't even tell they were gluten-free. I will send the recipe today when I get home.
  6. If you need cereal then have Fruity Pebbles or Coco Pebbles. Just bc you need to be gluten free doesn't mean you need special gluten free foods only. Think of all the really good things you like (like ice cream) and keep those in the house. You can have black beans/kidney beans with brown rice or white rice and tomatoes and cheese. The is good gluten...
  7. I worry too and the problem is I had all of these symptoms before I was diagnosed and thought something was wrong before being dx but just said to myself it's part of getting old. I am only 40! Before being dx I went to a dentist and they asked me if I had a problem with acid reflux bc he could see how my enamel on my teeth was bad. I also had and still...
  8. Just wondering if you still take this much biotin a day and if it's still helping?
  9. Usually when I get bloated I just lay down for about 5 to 10 minutes and for some reason it makes me feel better. Seems like something in my belly gets trapped when I am standing up so it helps release everything when I lay flat. Sounds weird but it works for me.
  10. Thanks for your help! I haven't been tested but just recently contacted my dr. about some symptoms I have been experiencing. Dry mouth (feeling dehydrated for over a year even though I drink plenty of water), dry eyes, sometimes feeling like there is a cotton ball in my throat and have experienced this at times at night while sleeping - as if my throat...
  11. I eat there almost every weekend. I just order a burger without the bun and fries. But be careful, because I went to one in downtown Tampa and the lady back there preparing my food actually thought that none of their food contained wheat. She was even nice enough to go out of her way to prove me wrong and printed out an ingredient list to show me that...
  12. Do you know how this is diagnosed? Is there blood work done or do they tell just by the symptoms you have? I read on the Sjogren's website that they don't do blood work.
  13. If you test positive for Sjogrens Syndrome, what other tests should you have done on top of the SSA and SSB. Should you check for damage to other parts of the body due to Sjogren's Syndrome? Ex: Does it cause serious damage to any organs or other body parts. Right now I am experiencing dry eyes and mouth. Also having a problem with my gums receding. Thanks...
  14. Feeling very irritated and annoyed. Any suggestions on what to do?
  15. Not sure of your daily schedule, but I find that if I walk for 30 minutes a day it makes a big difference. I noticed a difference right away after going gluten free, so by day 5 you should have too, but everyone is different.
  16. Anyone have dry nails and if so what do you do to treat them and does it eventually go away? I have been using Vit. E oil but looking for other suggestions. I did have my thyroid checked and it came back fine. I also take a multi vitamin, calcium, iron and biotin daily. All at different times. Before I was diagnosed I also noticed that my skin was dryer...
  17. Also, be careful what you eat. I have rice, bean and tomatoes and cheese almost everyday for lunch and do just fine, but I noticed if I had Winto Green Lifesaver after lunch for the breath I would get big time acid reflux.
  18. I use Pamela's pancake mix and my girls love them, so far this is the best pancake I have tasted that is gluten-free. It's pricey but good. They also put little chocolate chips in them.
  19. This pizza looks great! I hope it's as good as it looks! I haven't found anything I like yet. The pizza crust is usually still doughy on the inside even after cooking it longer. Is the yeast active? Thanks for the recipe.
  20. What major health issues have you been diagnosed with since being diagnosed with Celiac Disease?
  21. When I sign in and click on view new content it says "no new content exists and the board is blank. Why is this?
  22. The derm tried to put my daughter on it for her acne but after reading all of the side effects that could come during or after I said "no." She already has a thyroid problem. We were able to put her on birth control which yes I know does also have side effects, but it has made a huge difference. After four months her face looks great! Too bad they don...
  23. I live in Tampa and was diagnosed about 6 months ago.
  24. Maybe I don't understand the procedure, but why can't they just take your blood and then separate the red blood cells from the plasma? Why do they need to give you back the red blood cells?
