ARCHIVED What Are You Thoughts About This
twe0708 replied to twe0708's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thanks for your thoughts. I am not worried about hurting someone else's feelings, those are words the doctor used. I don't know why anyone in our situation were worry about what someone else thinks. If the other people don't understand then that would be their problem. -
So I was recentely dx with celiac disease and I asked my doctor how serious I need to take this and is it ok to have say a beer or a cupcake once a year. He said if I was at a party and didn't want to hurt the hostess' feelings while celebrating a big event then a beer or piece of cake would be ok. Is this true?

ARCHIVED 2 Months And Still Constipated
twe0708 replied to glutengal's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Constipated? I wish I had that problem! Tired of being loose! LOL Try a smoothie in the morning. Fresh blueberries - 1/2 cup, 1 banana and some strawberries in a blender with half of cup of crushed ice. You can also just do the blueberries and banana with ice. I usually have one every morning and need to stop for about a week to see if it firms me... -
If so, what were your results? It's called Healthy Trinity by Natren.

Has anyone found a good coconut oil to use for dry skin?

I would love to try your recipes. Thanks! I was a big junk food eater before I was diagnosed about three weeks ago and am 5'9" and 130 so I have never had to watch my weight. This diagnosis has been very hard on me to adjust my eating habits but after reading so much about ingredients and what is in our food I am all for eating healthy now. I think even...

Is there a salad dressing out there that's gluten free but everyone has already been using it even though they aren't gluten free? Does this make since? I don't want a dressing that is made just for people who need to go gluten free. I want one that's sold in the regular market and most people use.

ARCHIVED What Tests Do I Need To Ask For?
twe0708 replied to Wolicki's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I wasn't checked for all of the vitamins you mentioned, but I did start taking a multi vitamin. Is that good enough? -
If you are diagnosed with celiac disease do most people get tested for anything else to see if there are any other problems. Diabetes, cancer and thyroid disorders run in our family. I had an over active thyroid as a child and was on meds for about three years and have been fine since, but with all these problems in the family should I have other tests...

ARCHIVED Overwhelmed And Depressed By Latest Blood Work
twe0708 replied to nasalady's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Do you mind if I ask what made the doc run these specific tests? I was just diagnosed with Celiac Disease and they didn't run these specific tests on me. He did ask me if I have any joint pain and I said no because all of the symptoms I have had for so long I don't really think about them any more because I am use to them. I guess I should have said yes... -
I had a baked potato with my special butter only and a bag of M & M's and within a half hour I could feel the thunder storm coming. I must have had a hit of wheat but don't know how. If it's that easy then I don't know what else to do! :( :(

Brigala, Thanks for all the information. I do understand what you are saying and will try the gluten free cake. I just bought some. So far everything I have tested has tasted horrible! Namaste pancake and waffle mix and some chocolate chip mix from Whole Foods. It's the mix that comes in a bag with chocolate chips in them. The bag is all clear. Don...

Just wanted to let everyone know, if you don't already know, that Stonewood Grill & Tavern has a Gluten Free menu. Thank you! I wear Buxom Lip Gloss and was just wondering if it's gluten free. I too am tired of having to call everyone to check! I just wish the FDA would pass a law saying that all products need to be marked "gluten free" or "contains gluten," contains milk/peanuts/soy etc... Thanks for doing the research!
