  1. I'll call tomorrow to find out, it's posted at my GI doc's office.
  2. I'm not young or single but I live in the area. Just wanted to let you know that a doctor in Indiana, Pa. has diagnosed at least 200 people in the past year or so and they have Celiac Support meetings at the Indiana Hospital, which isn't very far from Blairsville. They also have a new terrific Health Food Store which carries a lot of gluten-free foods, just...

    ARCHIVED Ruby Tuesday

At least once a week we eat at our local Chinese restaurants, I always order the chicken, shrimp, and broccoli with white rice (no sauce) and I've never had a problem. I might start to carry my own sauce and salad dressings whenever we eat out.
  4. The Denny's I use is on the Pa. turnpike. They keep the Allergen list under the counter when you walk in the front door. It was they who showed it to me, it cross references all of their food, it spells out which allergens are in which foods. I usually eat the scrambled eggs and hash browns and sometimes I eat that new fish they have, starts with a T, sorry...
  5. The upper GI is usually an x-ray at which time you swallow barium and they follow it on the screen. It can diagnose reflux but not Celiac. When they do the Endoscopy they can tell if the villi are damaged or if there is a any redness or irritation, like the Barrett's Ring they found on me. Also they take several pieces of tissue from different areas to be...
  6. I would keep it simple. I spent a whole summer (last year) eating nothing but chicken, bland veggies, applesauce, and a few fruits like bananas, canned fruit, etc. You must give your body a chance to heal. Don't overdo on the grains, stick to mostly rice if you can and slowly introduce other foods. Keep a journal so you can remember which ones seem to bother...
  7. That's a lot of vitamins (IMHO). Vitamins can be very hard on your digestive system right now. I would stick to the bare minimum and be patient. That's a lot of Vitamin C, did your doctor recommend this?
  8. The capsule can't do a biopsy, not much good as a diagnostic tool.
  9. Be sure you have the EGD if you haven't already!
  10. I have it so bad that I was diagnosed in 2003 with Barrett's Ring around the esophagus. I thought all I had was occ. heartburn. I urge all of you who have reflux to be "scoped" (endoscopy). This is nothing to fool around with, it can turn to cancer, especially in men. Just another thing we have to worry about. I take Prevacid every day and I have to be checked...
  11. Besides Celiac you could also have IBS (irritable bowel syndrome). People with IBS have an abnormal amount of air/gas in their intestines. These sometimes are first symptom that lead people to see a GI doc. Your symptoms sound a lot like mine. My GI doc recommended Citracel tabs 2 every day to start followed by plenty of water. I never start a meal unless...
  12. I've always had good luck at Denny's, in fact they recognize me when I go in , they have been so accomodating. I used to look at their allergens list but I pretty well know what I can have before I get there. Just remind them to use clean utensils and clean the grill before they cook your food.
  13. I get migraines when I accidentally get gluten. On Saturday my husband made us eggs and sausage, I thought he was using Hormel but it was a "store brand" and an hour later I had a migraine and diarrhea. Even though I have medication to take when the aura starts they absolutely scare me to death because my vision gets distorted. My husband felt really bad...
  14. Another source would be the Americans for Disability Act, they have used it in schools. Please plug away at it, they have to accomodate you. I would also have your physician write an order for you, they have to act on that. This is the only way we are going to get in their face and get them to accomodate us. If I can do anything to help you, let me know....
  15. I just wanted to add to this because I have often wondered where and when my problem actually started.I don't have Celiac, at least I don't have the gene, but I have had problems all my life with allergies, fibromyalgia, headaches, migraines, but was able to function normally, perhaps I got more tired than my peers (I was a nurse for 30 years) but I didn...
  16. Does anyone know if they are going to offer new products or are they just changing their labels to indicate they are gluten free? What I am wondereing about, will they be offering gluten-free breads, pasta, pizza, etc ? If that is the case then I will be happy too. It's great that they will be changing their labels but doesn't every company have to do that...
  17. You could have gluten sensitivity. My biopsy was negative, the villi were not damaged, and the gene test was negative, but I still can't tolerate gluten or milk. My GI doc says there is no reason why I can't eat gluten, but it makes me sick everytime I eat it. I did a food sensitivity test thru York labs and it came back positive for cow's milk, egg whites...
  18. Tropicana told me that any juice marked with the number 48 on the top is gluten free. I use the Essentials with 1/2 the sugar and calories and it works for me.The number 48 indicates that it is made in a gluten free facility.

    ARCHIVED Stomach Pain

Hi, I also suffer this type of pain, had all GB testing, which was negative. Thr GI doc said it is IBS and the pain was relieved by increasing fiber and a small dose of antidepressant made me better. Try not to let yourself get constipated, I take Citracel tabs. Also don't put insoluble foods first into your empty stomach. It causes the colon to spasm...
