  1. I called yesterday to ask if Kix was gluten free. They said yes, and that any of their products that dont list wheat, rye, barley, or oats are gluten free. I asked if there was any risk of cross contamination, and they said no, that it was made in a seperate facility. Has anyone else been told this? I have to admit, I am still nervous to try it.
  2. just about everything Great Value marks gluten free. It took me a while to realize that there was a marking on the back that says may contain traces of wheat.
  3. My main flour is tapioca flour and sweet rice flour. I use a 50/50 mix and so far it has worked great for me. I havent used it in bread. I buy it at the healthfood store and it is very inexpensive-just a couple dollars for a box of it. I also occasionally use potato starch and cornstarch-again 50/50-I have used that for cake mixes.
  4. you would have to give her gluten(and plenty of it) for 6 weeks to 3 months to get a postitive test-if its celiacs. If she has a gluten intolerance and you know for sure, what will change if the test comes back positive for celiacs? If your answer is nothing, I would hold off and do the test when she is older. My son had a positive celiac blood test at...
  5. We avoid wheat at all costs. Processed in the same facility seems to effect my son as much as eating a piece of wheat toast. We had numerous problems with the walmart "gluten free" until I realized that it said that it was processed in a facility with wheat. Now I always read extra carefully.
  6. they are not fried seperatly at the BK by my house.
  7. My grandma is 80+ with what she calls Celiac Sprue and is as healthy as they come!
  8. Are you in the US? I had never heard of uht milk, so i googled it, and it seems to be a Canada/australian thing. I can find any info about it-sorry. I would recommend calling the company.
  9. My baby(16 months) has a similar reaction to gluten. He will be miserable sick and the slightest thing makes him so mad, he will throw himself back as hard as he can over and over screaming and yelling. I hadnt really thought ahead to what it will be like when he is older. That is a scary thought. I guess the best you can do is talk to her and explain...

  11. I love Bob's Red Mill Pizza crust! I like it better than almost any gluten crust.
  12. I would be watching very carefully. To me, 3 weeks seems a long time. The last time my son got glutened, it took him almost 2 weeks to get over it. Do you eat any gluten foods in your house? If so, I would be more inclined to think it was cross contamination. I hope he feels better really soon. What does charcoal do? Also, I would definitly not...
  13. That is so great!!!
  14. I am making my own Thanksgiving dinner the day before Thanksgiving. Then when we go to the inlaws, I will bring my baby his own plate of food and snacks to eat. i will also bring a gluten free dessert that he can eat. The risk of cc is to high in my opinion. I make pumpkin pie with no crust and I love it! I hate crust so it works out well for me too...
  15. The first thing I did was get online and look up the regular stuff that we ate every day to see if any of it was gluten free. Surprisingly a lot of it was-ketchup, salad dressing, pasta sauce, etc... I not to buy store stuff labled gluten free too much, because it seems like just putting a gluten-free lable raises the price. Bread is a tough one, but it...
  16. I use Bob's Red Mill crust and it is so good. I use prego traditional sauce for the pizza sauce. My favorite toppings are spinach and chicken, and after it comes out of the oven, I top it with sliced tomatoes(I dont like them cooked though). Now I am hungry for pizza!
  17. My baby is the only one with celiacs in the family, so we are going to have our own gluten free Thanksgiving on Wednesday and then package him up a plate of food and desserts and take it with us for the big family Thanksgiving meal. That way he gets to have the real thanksgiving dinner with us and then just leftovers later.
  18. My son is almost 16 months old and he is starting to try and take steps. Every step he takes he falls forward. When he gets glutened accidently, he cant even stand at all for a few days. Is it normal for kids to take longer to walk if their stomach isnt fully healed? When did your kids start walking?
  19. Oh gosh, I am going through almost the exact same thing. At first they were all supportive of us doing the gluten free diet and not doing the testing. They were so helpful. All the sudden, they decided he didnt have it and are calling me all the time telling me to put him on gluten. I finally gave and gave him gluten and he was in pain for days. I told...
  20. Is cranberry sauce gluten free? I cannot get the website to work.
  21. My brother in law tutors an 8 year old autistic boy who is on a gluten free diet. I am not sure how long it took, but I know it was pretty quick to see the change in him. When he gets some gluten-he is crazy-with major behavioral problems. As far as your family dealing with him and gluten. I was say-point blank-he will not be eating gluten. He has...
  22. My son eats the Gerber rice cereal with no problem at all. Most of the Chex cereals are gluten free(they say so right on the box) and are in kid flavors like chocolate, cinnamon, and honey nut.
  23. I have a totally gluten free household, so I personally wouldnt do it. Like the previous poster said, the risk of cross contamination is so high and you can get gluten free dough.
  24. awww-I'm sorry=( Does the classroom have a small fridge where you could keep a couple of snacks that she could choose from so she feels like she has a bit of a choice. We havent had to experience that because my baby is only 15 months, but I feel so sad for your little girl.
  25. How much does he weigh? What percentile is he in? Is his doctors concerned about his weight gain? Do you give him a lot of junk food? If that is the reason for the weight gain, I would start by feeding him healthier "junk food"-homemade cookies, homemade fruit roll ups, homemade beef jerky, etc... See if that helps. He may just be balancing...
