ARCHIVED When People Want To Host A Bridal Shower For You....
amberlynn replied to latteda's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
There are so many gluten-free options... and it is YOUR bridal shower. Perhaps ask them if you can help prepare the food and do it at your home? If everything is gluten-free, then you won't have to spend the day worrying about getting contaminated. My cousin just had a bridal shower, and I fully expected to not be able to eat, but she had salads... -
ARCHIVED Diarrhea In The Middle Of The Night?
amberlynn replied to LisaaaNoel's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Seriously?? I went through this for YEARS... it stopped when I first went gluten-free with my older son and has only happened once since. And it wouldn't be every night, just random nights (when I probably stuffed myself with gluten, throught the day, lol!). I remember when he was an infant, and screaming and I Couldn't leave the bathroom . It was every... -
ARCHIVED Poll: How Long Did It Take You To Get Pregnant After You Started Trying?
amberlynn replied to Becci's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
It took 6 months to get pregnant with my 1st, no period, so I had no idea when I was ovulating (or if I was at all!). I had mild symptoms at the time... His pregnancy was rough on me... and labor and delivery were even worse, ended in emergency c/s. He was born with a myriad of food allergies and intolerance... dx'd with Autism at 3 y.o. 2nd time... -

ARCHIVED This Is So Odd... But My Rash Went Away And Came Back
amberlynn replied to amberlynn's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
From what I read though, DH is itchy and turns to scabs... mine is neither. It stays in the same condition all the time. It doesn't look like any of the DH pics I've seen either. Though, when glutened, my son gets a much larger scale of this that also doesn't seem to bother him. Thankfully, its looking better this morning. I can tell its starting... -
ARCHIVED This Is So Odd... But My Rash Went Away And Came Back
amberlynn posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I have had this red rash my ENTIRE life. I can see it in the pictures from when I was younger. Not so much as an infant, but you can see it as I age... It doesn't itch. It's not bothersome at all, except for the fact that its really, really noticable. It's a red, bumpy acne looking rash on my arms and legs. My chest and battle scarred tummy have... -
I have no idea where I got glutened, as I only eat at home. But my 4 year old is having symptoms as well, so something happened somewhere. I ache sooo bad today. My right leg is hurting so bad. I cannot believe that a few months ago I lived like this! Even my right arm is achy. I'm sad, for no particular reason. I'm mean to my kids, and I don't know...

ARCHIVED How Long Before You Start To Feel Better
amberlynn replied to New-To-This's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Honestly? Buy a new toaster. Then you won't have to question it. I thought my bread maker was safe after thoroughly cleaning it, but nope, got sick as a dog for a few days. -
ARCHIVED Will I Hurt My Baby If I Cheat?
amberlynn replied to darkhorse's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
As a mom with food allergies, with kids with food allergies (my first the most severe), I wouldn't cave. I seriously wonder all the time if I'd been diagnosed years ago if my kids would have the issues they have now... I will never know, but at least you have the oppurtunity to be aware of it. -
ARCHIVED Why Is This Such A Popular Condition For People To Self Diagnose With?
amberlynn replied to silvertail's topic in Publications & Publicity
My doctor refused to give me the tests because I didn't present with 'classic' Celiac symptoms. I'm slightly overweight, rather than underweight. And that was the reason he gave me!! WTH... So, since I'd already been gluten-free once before (while nursing my oldest son who was allergic/intolerant to the top 8 allergens), I KNEW that I felt better at... -
ARCHIVED Does Your Motor Idle More Quietly?
amberlynn replied to ciavyn's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Yeah, even OTHER people have noticed my flatter stomach - which makes me feel kinda bad, but whatever. I had customers congratulating me on my recent pregnancy... , and they felt awful when they learned my last one ended 2 years ago!! I have been working out 3 times a week for 6 months, I couldn't lose any weight, my stomach didn't get any flatter... -
ARCHIVED Got Nauseated On Bread Aisle At Walmart
amberlynn replied to Glamour's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
It might be psychological, but it happens to me too, lol . I can't touch the bread bag and then my mouth, or I get a little sick. Who knows, but you're not alone!! -
ARCHIVED I Swear I Have Celiac Disease...but....
amberlynn replied to ktnhsv's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Sound an awful lot like my symptoms... I have not been 'officially' diagnosed, but the results from the diet are more than enough for me and my doc (who is the one who was unsure I had a gluten problem and refused to give me the test, but I digress). Muscle soreness, joint pain Severe fatigue: to the point where I was actually falling asleep standing... -
ARCHIVED Green Bean Casserole For T'giving
amberlynn replied to buffettbride's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
^^ But , the last time I need FF Onions, we couldn't have them for some reason (maybe CC?? I don't remember). I don't fry anything though, so I baked them til they were brown. They were great! -
I used to have a lot of pain in my teeth - and I would constantly grind my teeth too, because of it. I had never attributed to anything until I realized that I stopped doing it... weird. I thought I'd need my wisdom teeth out or I had a cavity, but that dentist always said my teeth were fine. Weird.

My son will ONLY eat hamburgers if they're on a bun... I attempted buns tonite, but they were a fail. They tasted OK, but fell apart in seconds. I remembered the xanthan gum too, perhaps I need more of it?? They were moist, more like buttermilk biscuits (which is what I'd meant to make this MORNING for biscuits and gravy, lol!!). I'm not intimidated...

ARCHIVED 2009 Thanksgiving Disasters
amberlynn replied to Ahorsesoul's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Actually, everything went very well. We were short a couple of people (I have a slight cold that just keeps hanging on), but I cooked last year, and I was determined to make it through! So, lots and lots of hand sanitizer Everything came out great, except the biscuits . I just cannot seem to get the hang of them! LOL! They tasted like baking... -
Occasionally Feel Like I'm Going To Fall Over?
amberlynn replied to amberlynn's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
They did a full panel a week after I went gluten-free, and everything came back fine. I take Kirkman's prenatal vitamins (cause I have a million of them, lol). I have NEVER been able to walk a straight line without concentrating on it (and my husband has always commented on it). So weird. -
So, I don't know what this is called, but every now and then I feel like my brain has lost contact with the rest of me and I might fall down. Not really dizzy, nothing else is wrong, I just feel like I'm completely out of balance. Just now, sitting in the chair, it felt like I was falling to the left (its always the left!), though I hadn't moved at...

ARCHIVED Anyone And Everyone: Are Your Gluten Exposure Symptoms Usually Consistent?
amberlynn replied to StacyA's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Yes, usually... chocolate triggers migraines (even in the smallest, minute amount-and that sucks cause I LOVE chocolate), but my gluten triggers AWFUL gas that, yes, puts my husband to shame. I get VERY tired, lethargic, and irritable. Crazy, almost. Stomachaches, not so much - but the gas comes with bloating, yay. And I look like I'm a few months pregnant... -
Speech Delay
amberlynn replied to Mom of a Celiac toddler's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I know from personal experience that food intolerances/allergies, etc can cause speech problems. My oldest son did not start to speak until we took soy out of his diet at around 2 years old (its not a coincidence... you don't go from not speaking more than 10 words to sentences in a week). Celiacs can experience brain fog, which would probably cause similar...
