  1. How were you tested for these foods? I was tested 1 1/2 years ago for food and chemical sensitivities. The company that did this test claimed the results are 80% accurate. I tested extremely sensitive to apples, beets, beet sugar, safflower, sorbic acid, yellow #5, fluoride and orris root. I tested moderately sensitive to many more things and mildly...
  2. I drink at least eight cups of water a day but may suffer fry dehydration because of diarrhea. Today that isn't a problem but I still got a headache. I avoid caffeine except when I resort to my pain reliever, which I no longer want to use. Thanks, Jabe, for the suggestions to combat the headaches. I don't think they are from eye strain, but I will try...
  3. Has anyone reacted to the BHT in Chex?
  4. I am wondering, too, if I have fructose problems. I will definitely bring this concern to my doctor at my next appointment. I love fruit and eat a lot of it for the calories. I sure hope that it isn't causing some of my problems along with the glucose. If I have to give up fruit my calorie intake will definitely be less. I have lost so much weight and...
  5. The only headache relief I get is from Goody's Cool Orange Headache Powder which includes acetaminophen, aspirin, and caffeine. I emailed the manufacturer and was told that it contains less than 60 parts per million of wheat from flavoring. Is this a large enough amount to be considered gluten? I really hate to give it up. Can anyone suggest another...
  6. I too am stressed with the price of gluten free foods and supplements. It doesn't help that I react to a lot of the supplements I've tried to help me feel better and end up feelilng worse. Money down the drain I am hoping that once I am off gluten for a while longer that I won't be sensitive to so many things. My doctor is hoping for that, too. I...
  7. I have gotten worse from eating nuts. All the packages do say processed in a plant that processes wheat. I do not know if it is cross contamination or the nuts themselves that I react to. I just know that my diarrhea gets worse. I am avoiding wheat, dairy, soy and eggs so really ate lots of nuts for the calories. I really can't afford to lose more...
  8. I have tried a gluten free digestive enzyme and it really bothered my stomach. My doctor told me to discontinue it. I had a GI panel done that showed an abnormally low amount of a marker enzyme that indicates poor pancreatic output of all enzymes. It also found some bad bacterial overgrowth. I read that bad bacteria can break down pancreatic enzymes....
  9. Are you able to get by with using the same cutting board, pots, pans etc. that others use? I am trying to eliminate all gluten from my diet but have the concern that I am getting contaminated. I just spent the weekend at my son's home and as expected there were gluten crumbs on everything. I washed all my utensils but am concerned that I got glutenized...
  10. I have tried swimming but am sensitive to the chemicals in the water and break out in hives. It was hard giving it up but I feel for the time being it is the thing to do. My doctor is hoping I can get over this sensitivity and eventually go back to swimming. I cannot jog because I have bad feet. Walking isn't a problem for my feet if I don't walk for...
  11. Hi from southcentral MN. I am happy to see someone from MN using this website. I have not been diagnosed with celiac disease but sure have the symptoms. My doctor did do a GI panel which showed a lot of concerning things. I tested positive to gliadin (gluten grains), milk (casein), soy (protein), and eggs (albumin). These were the only four food groups...
  12. I haven't been diagnosed with celiac disease but did have a GI test that was positive for gluten among other GI problems. Right now I am trying to avoid gluten and am hoping for the best. I have not been able to work the past four years because of insomnia, anxiety and depression. I have tried so many antidepressants and anxiety medications. I have...
  13. I have had insomnia for four years and try everything I hear of to help sleep. I haven't found anything that helps. I know I have good sleep hygiene. My daughter commented that a lot of people don't sleep. I realize that, but the body and mind need sleep. Most people that don't sleep don't just accept the fact that they can't sleep but try different...
  14. I have suffered from insomnia along with anxiety and depression for four years. I had to quit my job and have not been able to go back to work. People tell me I just need to be busier. How can I do much of anything when I can't sleep? I have tried so many sleep aids and found nothing that helps. Some make it worse. Ambien CR gave me four hours of sleep...
  15. For about a year I have suffered from diarrhea. I have not had any bloodwork for gluten intolerance but did have an expanded GI panel that consisted of stool and saliva samples. The saliva test showed positive to grain glutens, milk (casein), soy ( protein) and egg (albumin). The stool samples suggested that I had a poor pancreatic output of enzymes,...
  16. I would like to know if anyone else with gluten intolerance hears their pulse (vascular/pulsitile tinnitus)? I have been hearing my pulse for about four years. It started after a long spell with severe headaches. The pain caused my blood pressure to spike which started the noise. It sounds like a clock ticking in my head and is very annoying. I do have...
