  1. It is really strange but I can only get a significant amount of sleep every other night. One night I am awake the whole night or else fall asleep for a short time before I normally get up. The next night, I fall asleep right away and sleep until morning. At first I thought getting glutened was causing the insomnia, but I don't see how that would be happening...
  2. I sure hope I am not sensitive to rice because I feel it is the one food that keeps me going. I eat Lundberg's brown rice and their rice cakes daily. They have so many flavors of rice cakes. My local store didn't carry all the flavors so I asked them for specific ones and they got them. I really like the buttery carmel flavor. I am waiting for food...
  3. I would have tons of pizza. I haven't made any gluten free pizza yet since I can't have cheese either. Pizza without cheese just wouldn't do it for me. After pigging out on pizza, I'd hit chocolate chip cookies. Haven't tried the gluten free cookies either because of other food sensitivities. One night before I went to sleep I pictured all the foods...
  4. Oops! I tried to reply and I posted nothing. It definitely sounds like you have gluten intolerance. You may or may not have celiac. Doctors just seem to paste the IBS diagnosis when they don't come up with anything else. I lost 38 pounds and was told I had a high metabolism. Well, I didn't have a high metabolism in the past. I gave up eating...
  5. I tested sensitive to safflower, sunflower and soy bean oil. Right now I am sticking to olive oil and coconut oil. I am hoping I can bring back the other oils once my stomach heals more. Most chips are fried in safflower, sunflower or soybean oil. Not that chips are healthy, but a good crunch from a chip would be much appreciated.
  6. I want you to know I care. I don't have answers for you but I do hope knowing others care about you helps. Keep venting with this forum if it helps even just a little.
  7. I agree that you should try the gluten free diet and see if you have results. You have to be extremely careful not to get cross contaminated or you won't know if this is working for you. When I found out that gluten bothered me, I cut out all wheat. Then I cut out oats. Nothing changed for me. Once I learned about cross contamination and really made...
  8. I do feel pretty upbeat and it is great!
  9. That's great to hear. Think I'll make kraut tomorrow, too.
  10. I am going to try the spit test just to see what results I get. I did have a GI panel done this past summer and no yeast was present. Had food intolerance testing done a year before that and yeast wasn't a problem then either. So.....I don't think yeast is part of my problem but it is still something to consider.
  11. Happy, Happy New Year! I still have a long way to go in healing but the new year is definitely looking up! In the past month I have seen improvement in sleep, digestion, mental state and even a little much needed weight gain. I'm definitely having ups and downs but the over all I doing much better. I wish improved health to all of you. I...
  12. Lundberg Family Farms makes gluten free brown rice syrup. I use it on my cream of brown rice cereal daily.
  13. I just ran across this vitamin. It was developed for those that have had bariatric surgery. Since gluten and other food intolerances cause lack of absorption, this sounds like it would work for us, too. I'm going to discuss this with my doctor at my next visit. This is what it says about it: NEW High potency, rapid release tablets designed for smaller...
  14. I had a food and chemical sensitivity blood test done about 18 months ago. I reacted to quite a few things, including severe reactions to chlorine, flouride, apples, beets, beet sugar and safflower oil. At that time, I did not react to oats, wheat, rye or barley. The test results said they are 80% accurate. I went on an elimination/rotation diet and didn...
  15. It isn't the taste of foods that gets to me but the smell. Guess I just have to imagine it all tasting awful so I can get by. I'm still new at this and it hasn't been easy. For Thanksgiving, I ate turkey and fruit salad. I thought both were O.K. but I got to feeling pretty bad that night. At Christmas, I ate before I went. It was very hard watching...
  16. If the psyllium fiber doesn't do the trick, you can resort to a glycerin suppository. I do that every once in a while when I am in a lot of pain. Not a pleasant experience, but it definitely gives me some relief. Be sure you drink lots of water when taking psyllium. At least eight hours a day at the minimum. Good luck!
  17. The bottle states it contains no sugar, salt, yeast, wheat, corn, gluten, soy, dairy products, artificial flavoring, artificial coloring or preservatives. It contains rice flour and has a vegetable poysaccharide capsule. Never heard of the capsule ingredient before. Still wondering how much I should take and how long I should take it. Today I didn't...
  18. Have you tried taking a good muti-probiotic? That has really helped me. I recommend i-flora from Sedona Labs. It is available online.
  19. Possible cross contamination? I will have to buy a new coffee maker before I can make coffee again. I'm guessing my coffee maker got contaminated sitting out on a counter top close to flour, bread, etc. Also, the basket for the coffee filter got washed with other dishes so most likely that is cc also. I'm just doing without coffee now.
  20. I am consuming nightshades now but they will probably be next on my list to eliminate. I really rely on them since I have given up so many other foods. I'm waiting for my food sensitivity test results to come back and am afraid there isn't going to be much left for me to eat. I did try an elimination and rotation diet before I gave up wheat. Didn...
  21. I'm going to give the light box another try. Possibly with the Vitamin D3 supplement that I'm now taking it will help.
  22. I really relate to the roller coaster ride of going gluten free. I feel better one day and worse the next. The symptoms are never the same. Looking at the whole picture, I must say I feel better than before I gave up gluten. I am waiting for results of blood work for additional food and chemical sensitivities. I know there are going to be a whole...
  23. I am still trying to work out some insomnia issues. At this time, I don't want to risk it interfering with my sleep. If I sleep O.K. the next few nights, I'll give it a try at bedtime.
  24. My system is very sensitive. My doctor started me on L-Glutamine but told me to take it very slowly. I started with 1/3 of a 500 mg. capsule a day and now am taking a full capsule in the morning. I feel strange for a couple hours after taking it and then the feeling goes away. The bottle says to take 1-3 capsules daily. I will not increase my dose until...
