ARCHIVED How Do Other Autoimmune Diseases Affect Recovery Time?
beebs replied to nvsmom's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I don't feel remarkably better either. I have at least 3 autoimmune disease and going while gluten free has stopped some scary symptoms. But I still get flares with one of the other AIs - so still go through periods of feeling ugh! -
ARCHIVED My Kids Tested Negaive :)
beebs replied to nvsmom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
It is difficult without a solid diagnosis, my eldest son has been sneaking gluten at school - so we are about to do a gluten challenge with him. If he gets sick and I can see it is from Gluten then I will probably just stop the challenge and not bother with the diag, having said that, because our whole family is gluten free, our food bill is between twice... -
ARCHIVED Q For Those Who Had/has Gerd As A Symptom Of Celiac
beebs replied to beebs's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
God yes Kitty, haha. But it is life stress, so nothing i can really change unfortunately! -
ARCHIVED Gluten-Free Label But Wheat In Ingredients List
beebs replied to pouncer's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
sakata are a well known gluten free brand, they process the wheat so highly that there is no gluten detected. We have very strict laws so it has to be under 3ppm. We eat sakata stuff all the time. -

ARCHIVED My Kids Tested Negaive :)
beebs replied to nvsmom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Kids have a really high false negative rate, mine tested negative even though he vomited every day of his entire life until he went gluten free (and the endo showed damage). -
ARCHIVED Q For Those Who Had/has Gerd As A Symptom Of Celiac
beebs replied to beebs's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
There are a few different things that have been going on, I may or may not have a stomach ulcer (due to have an endo to see), I have put on some weight, and I have become very relaxed with regards to CC including eating gluten free pizzas from a normal pizza place. But I'm going to see about the probiotic. And truthfully - if I am getting cc'd - then... -
ARCHIVED Breast feeding boosts baby's immunity, prevents celiac disease - Indian Express
beebs replied to Scott Adams's topic in Publications & Publicity
I'm greatly in favour of breastfeeding too, but I was breastfed for a year and my mother was breastfed, and I grew up in a wholefoods household and we both are celiac. These kinds of articles give false hope that if you breastfeed your child won't become celiac. There are so many factors we all know that isn't the case. -
ARCHIVED Anyone Have A Child Currently Doing A Gluten Challenge?
beebs posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My DS who is 6 will be starting next week. I am not looking forward to it at all, the though makes me feel ill. But I am not 100% sure that his problem was gluten? It seems as if it is the case, but I am not sure. And I need to be sure. Anyhow our GI wanted him to do a challenge later, when he had a few good years at school without illness. He missed a year... -
ARCHIVED Q For Those Who Had/has Gerd As A Symptom Of Celiac
beebs posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I had really bad GERD for ages, I was on medication for it but it didn't work. When I went gluten free it stopped, that day - no more GERD. It was awesome. Anyhow all of a sudden about 5 months ago the GERD came back really bad, I have it all the time now, even though I am on nexium. What has happened? Why did it just come back like that? Has anyone had... -
ARCHIVED Australians And New Zealanders Hellooooooo :)
beebs replied to Aussie Peg's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I came on to mention the new Country life as well Saz! I Think it is 100 times better than it was before. It doesn't smell like the ocean when toasting and tastes like real bread. It is more expensive, but still cheaper than shar and those other brands. I am well impressed with it. I basically have only eaten this bakery bread (so I went a year without... -
I'd always choose coconut over anything else:) Yum! Not sure about the flour question, hopefully one of the clever cooks on here will be along to tell you the answer!

ARCHIVED My Biopsy Word For Word
beebs replied to troykm's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Is that not terribly insulting? Is it also not illegal to insinuate that you could have HIV just because you are gay??? I am fairly sure that even if it isn't illegal it is not the done thing! That result would have me thinking celiac straight away! -
ARCHIVED Misdiagnosed?
beebs replied to MysteryDiagnosis2012's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Mystery diagnosis, I am with you, I am a very reluctant gluten free person, and I find it especially hard not having a diagnosis. If I had a proper one, then I may not be sitting thinking at least once a day "maybe it isn't gluten, maybe I am on the wrong track". Unfortunately the testing is not 100% and lots of us are in the same boat. I too hate... -
ARCHIVED Is It Easy To Make The Connection?
beebs replied to Nen's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I never saw the connection, because I didn't have typical symptoms. I had things like nose and mouth ulcers all the time, constant middle ear infections and constant chest infections, severe GERD etc -
ARCHIVED Misdiagnosed?
beebs replied to MysteryDiagnosis2012's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I'd find myself an new GI asap - someone who knows about celiac disease, clearly yours doesn't, you can be negative on the tests and still be celiac. -
I agree with this. My kids haven't even noticed switching to gluten free and two of them don't even have issues with gluten. Majority rules in this house, so they go without. Also - unless you guys are doing something totally different in the states, I am really unsure how you can even tell. Lots of the gluten-free mixes over here taste exactly like the...

What were the list of the other things that cause flattened villi? And are you experiencing any symptoms that sound similar to any of those things? Sounds like celiac to me, I'm not a doctor obviously.

ARCHIVED Before You Knew It Was Gluten...?
beebs replied to heathenly's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
1) Yes 2) No, I ate gluten all the time. I never had any obvious symptoms like gut or toilet symptoms. I had a whole lot of random things that seemed to be unconnected with each other. So it never occurred to me that it could be food. -

ARCHIVED Can Gluten Cause Ms And Other Autoimmune Disorders?
beebs replied to TomC's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Yes, undiagnosed coeliac and eating gluten can trigger other autoimmune diseases, I have at least another two, possibly more. MS isn't usually one that is connected though, things like RA, Lupus (connective tissue) Diabetes type 1 etc. I would go with what Skylark suggests. And also remember that when you go off gluten - it can take a year or more to fully... -
