  1. It depends where you are, here in Oz = you cannot be diagnosed at all, ever without a biopsy. Doesn't matter what your bloods say, or what the diet does, or how severe (even if they are life threatening) your symptoms are. Drives me insane!
  2. haha - I do that - think everyone has celiac I mean! !
  3. I have never had pierogis, but my husband goes on and on about them - so if you cold post a recipe I would really appreciate it!
  4. Both of my kids had negative blood work - but they found things in both, one showed inflammation, the other, ulcers in his esophagus, inflammation, and borderline results for celiac. I would do it personally - I know it seems scary- but both mine were up and around in 30 mins like nothing ever happened, and we wouldn't have found all that stuff if we just...
  5. What is SCD?? At various points he has been dairy free, fruit free, haven't done grains. And now he is Lactose free - ie L/F. He has probiotics. He hasn't had a colonoscopy- think they were waiting to see if it all resolved on a gluten-free diet!
  6. Yep - they are always elevated - no by much alot of the time though. I have psoriatic nails as well - which means I have a 30% chance of psoriatic arthritis, think I just have so many different things going on they want to get the diag right? I've been seeing the rheumy for 6 years now and still no official diag....which is a good thing - except when they...
  7. I'll say - I was diagnosed at 28! I am now 34 and its spreading and getting worse and worse, it goes into complete remission when I am pregnant - so its totally autoimmune in nature...arrgh. I have other things as well but not enough for a diagnosis of anything firm, so I have some sjogren's symptoms, some lupus symtpoms, psoriatic arthritis is a possibility...
  8. Well, I mean - for example, my son is borderline result and there is no doubt he is far better gluten-free. But there is still something going on with him, he is LF/gluten-free has been tested for everything under the sun including cystic fibrosis and crohn's has been mentioned. We have tried all kinds of elimination diets but he still looks like a starving...
  9. I'm with you Hailiesmom - I just want to know that it is gluten and nothing else underlying etc. Seems to me they rule out celiac and then that is it, its not "It's not celiac so lets look for something else" it seems to be "It isn't celiac, and that is all". Drives me mad!
  10. Hmm- I have some type of autoimmune arthritis that isn't showing up on bloods - so that is interesting.. thanks for that !!
  11. I just don't agree with that at all I'm afraid, there could be many many reasons why some people have the symptoms they have, its not always celiac. So what if all us negative ones are on the wrong track?
  12. You weren't eating it long enough after being gluten free anyway. I know how you feel, I am undiagnose, one of my children is neg on the tests and the other was borderline. Its such a kick in the face after all the pain and suffering when it comes back negative.
  13. When you talk about your sister having a "sensitive constitution" I had a little chuckle = I know its not funny. But I grew up believing I had a "weak stomach" , I mentioned it to my GI and he started laughing and said there is no such thing as a Weak stomach...it suddenly dawned on me - doh! Only took 33 years to work out. So yes = deffo get tested!
  14. Not to worry you, but lupus can cause unexplained fevers and its autoimmune so if she is celiac she has more of a chance of that kind of thing. I know some people on here do get fevers from gluten. Might be worth getting some bloods done just to rule it out though.
  15. Sounds like a stomach ulcer - especially the 'fullness' feeling. You can have those even with neg H Pylori, I've had a few. You should go to the Dr for sure they'll prob give you a proton pump inhibitor!
  16. It can take years, honestly though I'd give it at least 12 months, some of my symptoms (painful mouth ulcers) have only just gone away and I have been gluten-free for 12 months.
  17. I reckon heaps and heaps of people in the NCGI group are really false neg celiacs anyway - if you have a problem with gluten just stay off it.
  18. Its in the crock pot recipe section! Hi Irishheart - how's it going over there?
  19. I'm making Skylark's red wine pot roast recipe
  20. We are having your recipe for dinner tonight Skylark
  21. I know that DQ8 is in there - was just wondering what the others mean - if anything?? Sorry for being a pain!! HLA -DR 4, 15 DRB1 04, 15 HLA-DQ 6, 8 HLA-DQA1 01, 03 HLA-DQB1 0302/7/8/11, 06 I will NEVER understand...
  22. I forgot to mention - my Grandfather (mothers dad) was diagnosed bowel cancer in his 40's after a lifetime of sickly tummy, I think he was coeliac as well.
  23. I absolutely have other autoimmune conditions, I'm not sure which came first - they have all been happening for so long So My mother is a Coeliac, as am I (pretty convinced but no biopsy) two of my children are gluten free and doing much better on it after years of malabsorption issues, and my husband - who is gluten free just because the house is...
  24. That sounds totally delish Skylark! Thanks! PS - does crockpot mean slowcooker??
