ARCHIVED Candida
Bobbijo6681 posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I have been gluten-free since January of this year, but what led me to the GI dr is severe abdominal pain in my right side. My dr has done many many tests and has not found a reason for the pain, and has referred me to the University of Iowa for another opinion. Today I was doing some research online and came accross CANDIDA that I had read about a few... -
I have also read what Heidi wrote...I am pretty sure on here. Maybe try looking under the search function. From what I remember of the topic it requires LOTS of paperwork and follow through. For me I don't know that I have the time...nor patience...to do that. Although it is an added expense it is TOTALLY worth it if I feel better! Good luck in your...

ARCHIVED Glucose Breath Test
Bobbijo6681 replied to Bobbijo6681's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I surely hope that I don't have that problem....but so far it doesn't appear to be so. I just have unresolved Celiac symptoms that are just not going away despite the strict gluten-free diet that I adhere to. The most troublesome part is the severe pain in my right side. At first it would come and go, but now it is constant and NOTHING helps. They gave... -
ARCHIVED Glucose Breath Test
Bobbijo6681 replied to Bobbijo6681's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
No it is not testing for Fructose, that was something they could have added to what I am doing, but I elected to no do it. I don't have a problem processing fruit so I elected to not do that at this time. My test is only for 2 hours and is checking for Bacterial Overgrowth in the small intestine. -
ciavyn, I know what you mean about craving gluten-free foods now. I bought some Nut thins when I was first diagnosed and it took me a few days to get used to them, but now I can eat a whole box in 3 days and I LOVE them!! I also like the Enjoy Foods Snickerdoodle cookies with frosting for a snack (not very healthy, but again I LOVE them.) My biggest problem...

ARCHIVED Glucose Breath Test
Bobbijo6681 posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I just got back from another trip to the dr's office because of continued problems. I have severe pain in my right side that is getting worse after going gluten free instead of better. Aside from a few GI issues that I had prior to going gluten-free, I have no other noticeable signs of Celiac. After doing a quick internet search on the Breath Test...(my... -
My best suggestion is to take it one day at a time. Do your best to take care of yourself and your little one and hope for the best. Hopefully he won't have to go(fingers crossed for your family) but if he does just do the best that you can. Line up a few people that you can call for help in a crisis and just do your best. I know you are kinda new to...

K8ling, I would also give Better Crocker's gluten-free cakes a try....they were a little dry but the closest thing I have had to CAKE in a long time, and I missed it terribly. Also I have a pacakge of Brownie mix that I just got at Trader Joe's over the weekend that I plan to try sometime this week. You CAN have all of the yummy stuff you had before...

ARCHIVED Cross Contamination
Bobbijo6681 replied to MamaMeagan's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I know it sounds overwhelming...I thought the same thing not that long ago. The biggest problem with plastic utensils and non stick pans is that you can't get gluten out of the scratches that are on them. So you may think that you got it all, but then it hides somewhere that you can't see. If you are just starting out you may not feel any better until... -
That might get you close to a count, but I would guess that what you are making at home is probably much lower in calories than something store bought. They add so much to it to preserve the taste and to make it's shelf life longer, and that has to add something....at least that is my 2cents.

ARCHIVED Muscle Weakjness / Twitching / Neurological Symptoms?
Bobbijo6681 replied to GoPhils's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I had severe pain in both of my feet, and my right arm. I also got a terrible eye twitch in my right eye....made it very difficult to drive when that sprung on me at the worst moment. That is what led me to see a rhumetalogist and she ran the celiac panel just because she couldn't find anything else to explain the pain. I thought she was full of you know... -

Bobbijo6681 replied to Bobbijo6681's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease

ARCHIVED Frustrated Beyond Words....
Bobbijo6681 replied to Bobbijo6681's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Yes they told me to drink lots of fluids so I am trying to make sure that I do so. I have had both the colonoscopy done and the CT. Had an ultrasound done too. So far nothing is showing up....but the pain doesn't go away. Most of the time I just try to grin and bear it, but right now I am just having a pity party for myself. I HATE FEELING THIS WAY!... -

Thanks for all of the replies!! I had my gallbladder out in 2006, years before I was diagnosed Celiac. I did have the Small Bowel Follow Through done today...hoping the results of that come back quickly. I am in soooo much pain I just want to curl into a ball and cry. Thanks for listening to me vent. I know some people have it way worse than I do... -
ARCHIVED Hair Loss And Dandruff
Bobbijo6681 replied to crsgal98's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
crsgal, Take it one day at a time. Try not to change everything overnight. Yes you need to get rid of all of the gluten, but try not to replace everything with all of the gluten free replacements. Some, if not all, of them will be hard to handle at first, and they are somewhat of an acquired taste. I was very overwhelmed at first, but then once I got... -
I have been on the Gluten Free diet since the end of January this year, and feel much much better in so many ways. However the reason I saw the GI, which lead to diagnosis, is that I have pain in my RLQ. The severity varies from day to day and time to time. My dr is trying his hardest to find a cause for this pain but so far has not been able to pin point...

ARCHIVED Preliminary Results Of Endoscopy
Bobbijo6681 replied to AlysounRI's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Allison, I also was given meds for Acid Reflux after my scope....I asked the GI on Monday when I went back for a followup why I was on that medication. I didn't remember much from after the scope. I just started taking the pills. He said it was for the same reason you gave. I told him that I didn't feel any different taking it then I did before and he... -
ARCHIVED Considering Becoming A Consultant
Bobbijo6681 replied to JNBunnie1's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I agree with buffettbride that education is important to our cause. However I think that it would be nice to have someone to go with me to the grocery store and help look at labels. I know all the "big" things to look for, but then I have to get out my "no no" list and check everything else. It is very time consuming to start with and VERY overwhelming... -
Glad to hear things are looking up for you!! As for missing the bonus, remember you have been sick for a lot of the quarter so by getting SOOO Close that is a pretty big accomplishment in my book. Although not good enough to get you where you wanted to be look at everything you have been through. As for the boss maybe a note from the dr would help. ...

ARCHIVED Suzie's Rice Cakes
Bobbijo6681 replied to dhiltonlittle's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I personally have never had them....but I have had other products that say they are made on shared equipment and been fine, but that is different for everyone. The best suggestion I have would be to try a couple and wait a day or two to see if you have a reaction. The problem that I see is that this bag/box might be ok for you, but the next bag/box will... -
ARCHIVED Not Doing Well Emotionally
Bobbijo6681 replied to sandsurfgirl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I agree with that!! I try not to say "No" to doing things, I just try to find the ways that I can do them so that I don't feel left out. I just tried corn pasta on Monday and LOVED it, I was so worried that I would never get to have pasta again, now I know I can. -
ARCHIVED Not Doing Well Emotionally
Bobbijo6681 replied to sandsurfgirl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I agree 100% I was just talking about that this morning with some of my co-workers. I always tell them that we need to think positively. I have always tried to use myself as an example, but it was hard to get people to really understand how important thinking positive can be. Since I was diagnosed I can now use myself even more. When the dr. first told...
