  1. instead of the tour of Guiness take the tour of the Jameson distillery. Find other stuff to do. Ask the waffle place if they can add a gluten free option. Life is not over. Its just a new road.
  2. so by that logic can I use my HSA card to buy broccoli and steak? They're gluten free. You don't *need* to buy pre-packaged manufactured "gluten free" foods. There are real foods that are naturally gluten free.
  3. Celiac disease is just gluten intolerance gone horribly wrong. Just because a gluten panel blood test comes up negative, doesn't mean you can eat gluten (despite what most doctors will tell you!). It just means you may not have full blown Celiac disease. And I agree, if you were "gluten light" before your tests, the results could definitely be skewed toward...
  4. I'm a low carber, have been for well over a year now. I'm also Celiac, and I avoid pretty much all packaged and manufactured foods. Gluten free sure ain't low carb! I've been "doing Atkins" since November 08, and even if you're vegetarian, there are a lot of low carb/low GL options! There are a bazillion things you can do with Flax meal that are good...

They should also test thyroid antibody levels, to look for possible auto-immune diseases like Hashimoto's (hypo) and Grave's (hyper). Too much TSH means you're hypothryroid...
  6. you can be gluten intolerant and not have Celiac disease. Gluten intolerance won't show up on a blood test.
  7. organic cosmetics can still have gluten in them. Farmer's can grow organic wheat, barley and rye, so cosmetics makers can put them in their makeup! I used to use Physician's Choice Organics tinted moisturizer, but it's got wheat in it, so I tossed it out. I had 2 tubes of hand lotion that had wheat germ in them, gave those to a friend. I've also discovered...

    ARCHIVED Coping!

I feel 100% better since being gluten free. More energy, I sleep better, and I don't have that cloud of noxious gas hanging over me anymore! I don't eat packaged foods though, whole natural foods only. I've been a low carber for well over a year now (which is how I diagnosed Celiac, then confirmed with blood tests and biopsy), and I feel so much...
  9. Cold turkey is the best way to go. The ONLY way to treat Celiac disease is by totally avoiding gluten products. If you continue to eat products with gluten in them, then you will never get healthy. For every gluten containing product, there is a gluten free alternative. There's really nothing to miss!
