  1. Yay, that's awesome, I like Medieval Times, it's a lot of fun! Although last time I went, we had a food fight, chicken and rolls flying all over the place. I'd have to wear battle gear. It's nice to go out to eat, I went out for a business lunch yesterday afternoon, and my companions sat watching me eat the whole time, waiting to see if I would explode...
  2. that's an aweful lot of sugars, (even without added HFCS) have you had anything to eat besides fruits? You still need protiens and fats in your diet. Just because you're gluten intolerant doesn't mean you're stuck eating only fruits all day every day. 1 apple is about 14.34 grams of sugar, and not even half a gram of protien 1 banana is 14.43 grams...
  3. whey is a by-product of making cheese, and dextrose is a sugar.
  4. if it is bright red, it is likely a hemmoroid or a fissure, close to the exit area, and irritated by the constipation. If it is dark, almost black, I would suggest you get to a doctor fairly quickly, as it could be an internal bleed. Ditch that supplement you're taking, that'll make you sick, as ravenwoodglass said. Watch for ingredients that are derrived...
  5. corn and soy are probably the other most common intolerances/allergies after wheat and dairy. I can't even smell corn from the other side of the room without feeling nauseous.
  6. you will likely start to feel better immediately. Within a day or so of being gluten free, you should notice a difference. Within a week you should noticed a marked difference. Within a couple or few months, give or take, you should be at about the point where you go "Holy $#@%! This is what healthy feels like!". Every day will get better and better...
  7. Let me preface this by saying I have had gastric symptoms pretty much my entire life. I'm 42 years old. Pain, gas, constipation, nausea etc etc and so on. I'd been diagnosed with "migraine stomach", IBS, allergies, and the ubiquitous "well, we have no idea what's wrong with you. Eat more fibre" Around 1998 I started losing A LOT of weight. I...
  8. if you're not dairy intolerant, this one is awesome! Open Original Shared Link
  9. I use crushed up pork rinds and parmesan cheese!
  10. I was just dx with D deficiency. All they told me was "take an off the shelf supplment" Didn't say how much or how often, nothing. I really dislike doctors most of the time, they're not much help I looked at my handful of vitimins that I currently take, and I guess it's not nearly enough D, considering how much the rest of you are taking! I guess...
  11. I believe all toothpastes in North America are gluten free. Sounds like you're pretty thorough and that your boyfriend is very supportive, lucky you If you are overly sensitive, you might want to consider checking the labels on your soaps, cosmetics, shampoos etc. And pet foods if you have pets. Some people think it's a bit overkill, but it's...
  12. if you are gluten intolerant or Celiac, the ANY amount of gluten will harm you.
  13. I noticed a difference within a day of going gluten free. No bloating. It took about a week for the constipation to go away. 2 months later and I've lost some weight, been accidently glutened a couple of times (CC I'm sure, not blatant gluten ingredients), but my ears are still ringing and I have body aches. Just not as bad as when I was doing the gluten...
  14. if a multi-vitimin or supplement is gluten free, it will say so on the bottle label. I take a handful of vitimins and supplements every day, all of them are labeled gluten free.
  15. I worked at one manufacturing company where the majority were Chinese, and they always heated their lunch in the common microwave. The non-Chinese employees always rather loudly and rudely complained about the smell. Until one day I said "have you ever considered that the smell of your vomit van chili may be just as offensive to them, and their fish is...

    ARCHIVED Eating Out

very cool! Might come in handy too! Ta.
  17. yes, low blood sugar can cause nausea and vomiting. And the shakes and dizziness. I think breakfast should always be a balance of fats, protiens and controlled carbs. Not cereal on it's own. Most cereal will spike your blood sugars, and have you crashing too soon. Fats and protiens digest slower, and have less immediate affect on the pancreas. Even...
  18. that's great that you're not feeling all deprived and that you're still getting out. Normally I don't prefer Outback (I think they're very overpriced!) but heck, if they have a gluten free menu, I might just put them back on the list of places to eat. My Australian friends think its funny though. It's not really Australian food.
  19. Do you live in the US? Do you eat a lot of processed foods? If yes to both, watch your ingredients labels for high fructose corn syrup. It is processed by the liver, and converts and stores as fat. If your liver function is reduced because of Celiac (which is possible), then feeding it HFCS certainly won't help it! I serioulsy think that stuff...
  20. I know it's hard for me, and I don't have kids! Just dogs. I can't imagine trying to keep up with children! I was having a heckuva time a couple of weeks into my 8 week gluten challenge, right up until the past week or two, I had horrible dizziness, sometimes I couldn't focus on anything because it seemed to take my head too long to catch up with everything...
  21. I do think there is a big correlation between Celiac disease and all forms of infertility and/or reproductive organ issues. (which would include advanced endometriosis). I think it just wreaks such havoc with everything that all systems start to fail. Everyone is individual of course, so each person may have different domino effects and different system...
  22. I rarely ate breakfast up until about 5 years ago or so. Which is about when my hyperthyroid Grave's disease went into full swing, and even if I ate in my sleep I could never have enough food! I eat breakfast every day now (Grave's diseae in full remission!). I can't expect my car to work without fuel in it, so how can I expect my own body to work without...
  23. diagnosed 8 years ago and no one told you? How the heck does that happen?
  24. I read an article a few months ago about a lab in Australia that is testing intestinal parasites as a "cure" for Celiac.
  25. Pretty much every single fast food restaurant in the US (probably everywhere else too) puts wheat in or on their chicken in some form or another. Even the "grilled" chicken that's supposed to be healthier for you.
