  1. Celiac disease isn't an allergy. So- no, Celiac doesn't come with other allergies. Doesn't Red Bull have a lot of sugar and caffiene? Those can cause hot flashes in some people. Did you read the ingredients before drinking?
  2. If you usually drink lactose free milk - then it was probably an issue with all the milk in the lattes. They are mostly milk.
  3. They have this brand at Bed Bath and Beyond. And you can use the $5 or 20% off coupons.
  4. Are you saying that it has gluten and caused your issues? Or you just have a problem with the medication, in general? It looks like Zoloft is likely gluten-free. Open Original Shared Link
  5. Its nice that a dentist " gets" gluten free. However, I haven't found any dental products with gluten, yet. And it doesn't really look like he does " get" what is gluten. He uses the old myth about artificial flavors to scare people to his business. Whatever.... He is happy to see his link here.
  6. Lattes have a lot of milk. Maybe that is the issue?
  7. This requires a " lot of ingredient" warning! This makes yummy gingerbread. Not a crunchy kind but a soft kind like people used to make 200 years ago. It is very sticky. The key, for me, was to get the dough almost frozen, roll out, cut into squares with a knife, re freeze, then peel the cut squares off and onto the parchment on the cookie sheet. As...
  8. Anyone been to a Firebirds? We just got one here. Open Original Shared Link
  9. Without a diagnosis, schools, hospitals, dormitories, etc do not have to provide gluten-free foods or excuse the child from activities like baking in 6 th grade. When she is older, she may think " I don't have a diagnosis, I'll eat what I want." I think it would be easier to keep her eating gluten for 3 more weeks and get a real diagnosis. You won't...
  10. if it were me, I would keep her on a regular diet and get a new doctor. Maybe the GI doctor understands Celiac testing better? Low IGA means that the common blood tests, the IGA versions, will not work. Open Original Shared Link
  11. A bone density test doesn't take bone cells....it's an X-ray. Very simple and painless. Here is an explanation. Open Original Shared Link
  12. Fingernails aren't made of bone, FYI.
  13. The thing with calcium is - the levels can be fine in your blood - that doesn't mean you are getting enough. Out bodies take the calcium out of the bones to maintain a good level in the blood. That is why they say to add calcium to help with bone density.
  14. What are the ingredients? I have never seen a soda pop, except a homemade root beer/ sarsaparilla one at a Civil War Reenactment , contain gluten. Edit: looked at the ingredients on the website, I would drink it.
  15. I would consider a colander for gluten pasta only. Use the other for fruit, beans and gluten-free pasta. It's really hard to get the sticky pasta out of every little hole.
  16. Indeed! This is a most important discussion! My gluten eating hub loved those plain Breton ones!
  17. Probably not. I would consider a cutting board, colander or measuring cups but not pots and pans. Pans don't really need to be gluten-free if they aren't scratched. I like my Caphalon pans. Things that wash nicely like, knives, dishes, pots and pans, silverware, etc don't need to be segregated. I, and many others, solve some of these problems by buying...
  18. Lots of non- gluten-free people serve these. They are much cheaper at SAMs Club or Costco. My husbands company serves them at functions. Open Original Shared Link.
  19. A new gluten-free bake shop just opened up in Southern Overland Park! It's called Mama Resch's! Just tried the chocolate and the pumpkin spice cupcakes! Yum! Also, T. Loft near Ward Parkway Shopping center has gluten-free treats and salads. everything gluten-free. They are opening another location in Overland Park at Park place next month.
  20. In the Us, caramel color is gluten free. Coke is gluten free. However, it is very acidic. Bubbles can be hard, too. Also, it has high fructose corn syrup which can be hard for some people, Celiac or not, to digest.
  21. That's funny! That is my first symptom of a glutening, too! If I'm lucky and it wasn't much gluten or the stars are aligned or I have good karma - it doesn't go much further than that!
  22. Yeah! I expect a full report when you return! Keep track of places you ate - good or bad, shops to get safe snacks, etc. And have some fun.
  23. No. That is terrible advice. I would find another derm who knows how to biopsy for DH properly. They need to take the skin next to a fresh spot. Open Original Shared Link
