ARCHIVED Ghirardelli Chocolate Squares?
kareng replied to WinterSong's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
this is new: Open Original Shared Link Not sure if throwing out chocolate is true. Looks like most candy is made on shared equipment so you can choose for your self. Looks like almost everything they make is gluten free. I will still eat them. -
ARCHIVED For All Nesquik Lovers. . .
kareng replied to ptkds's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
These original posts are 6 years old. The products may not contain the same ingredients any longer. Please look at the ingredients, company websites, maybe even email the company if you feel the need. Just don't make any assumptions based on such old info. -
That part about your friend doesn't make sense? Why would he test positive for gluten sensitivity one time and, after eating a lot of gluten, test negative? And, even if he went gluten free after his positive test, isn't the point that you don't need to eat gluten to get a positive test? So he should still test positive?

Here's some info from real celiac researchers: "We only embrace tests that have endured rigorous scientific evaluations. So far, these tests have received no evidence-based support." Open Original Shared Link Just my personal opinion - I have never seen anyone ask for a gluten test from them and get a negative. To me, that is suspicious.

ARCHIVED Thanksgiving Day Food
kareng replied to I-want-nachos's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
If you are sure the some foods are gluten-free, why not ask if you could serve yourself first? Or straight from the pan in the kitchen? I would worry about cc. My neighbor wanted to make gluten-free latkes so I gave her some rice flour. She knew to fry the gluten-free ones first but hadn't thought about her colander. She drains and squeezes the moisture... -

ARCHIVED Question About Celiac Testing
kareng replied to kdz773's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
It is probably OK to test. Maybe just make sure you eat some gluten for a couple of weeks first? You want to make sure you get the correct result. The amount doesn't have to be much. This link is for someone who has been gluten-free for a prolonged time. https://www.celiac.com/forums/topic/105280-tested-negative-for-blood-test/#entry897266 "For... -
ARCHIVED Tested Negative For Blood Test...
kareng replied to madminx's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Many of us have seen that there are a lot of doctors that do not keep up with research and current standards of practice for Celiac disease. Labs sometimes use different units of measurement so the ranges would be different. -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Cheesecake?
kareng replied to Waitingindreams's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Would you like to say where you live? Maybe someone will know a gluten-free bakery that will make one for you? I have found that some local gluten-free bakeries will make special orders. ARCHIVED My Story
kareng replied to ceceliac's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Humans have 16-20 feet of small intestines. Usually, the whole intestine isn't damaged. So, Even if you have a lot of damage, 2 or 3 tiny biopsies may miss the damaged spots. Also, eating gluten free will cause the intestines to heal and make it even harder to find damage. -

ARCHIVED Gluten Intolerance Linked To Gmos
kareng replied to kenlove's topic in Publications & Publicity
So true. What theya re saying is that - Some baked goods have more gluten because they are adding additional " wheat gluten" to the recipe. It isn't that the wheat has more gluten, it's that they are using more in some baked goods. -
ARCHIVED New Here - Ongoing Symptoms After Glutening
kareng replied to JustCricket's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms

ARCHIVED Should I Try Eating Gluten Again?
kareng replied to kellysensei's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I think you should go back on gluten and get a Celiac test. You sound like you will always doubt if gluten is an issue - and maybe it's not! ( I know - I'm a rebel! :0 ) -

kareng replied to NoGlutenCooties's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I agree with Irish on this. Also, what proof do you have that Captain Morgans rum drinks have gluten? Or any dark rums? Last I heard, they were gluten-free but I don't drink them so I haven't kept up with that. -
